The food was wonderful and Charles provided outstanding service! We will be back and we highly recommend.
This was our 2nd time dinning at Circa 1886 while visiting Charleston, our 2nd Birthday celebration there.
Very elegant and very expensive. Interesting and unusual menu with extensive wine list. Service a bit too obsequious for my taste. A walk up to the cupola on the Wentworth Mansion was wonderful.
Excellent food but a little pricey for just any night out. Service was incredible and the food was awesome even if it was a little eclectic. Best apple soufflé I've ever had, hands down.
My husband and I dined at Circa to celebrate our 7th anniversary. The food and service was amazing. Our only gripe was that the amount of food was far less than expected. After appetizers, our meal, and even dessert, we had to plan our "after dinner meal". We spent nearly $200 for two and left wanting more, but while the food we had was great it simply wasn't enough. I would certainly recommend Circa, but with that disclaimer. Great food, but we won't be back.
The food was amazing. The have a pastry chef so the desserts were made to order and delicious.
We had a reservation and arrived on time. Greeters (two young gals) initially told us we had to wait "because our waiter had just gotten another table seated", then as soon as we sat down to wait we were told our table was ready (elapsed time about 15 seconds). The restaurant was pleasant but not noteworthy. Food was quite bland (the duck breast was thick and tasteless; the tuna was just OK; the fried artichoke appetizer was so poor that the waiter apologized and took it off the bill). We were disappointed as this was a special weekend in Charleston and we had heard good things about this restaurant. It is pricey but not worth it.
This was our first time at Circa 1886 and it we had a wonderful meal. The service was spot on as well. I had the artichoke appetizer and the blackened catfish main course. Both were very well prepared. My husband had the cabbage salad and beef dinner and he thought both were wonderful. We were too full for dessert. The wine selection by the glass was good and the prices were in line with other fine dining in Charleston. We would visit Circa 1886 again.
One of our favorite places to dine in Charleston
Circa is and continues to be our favorite restaurant in Charleston
The epitome of Charleston fine dining!!
Arrive early to enjoy the ambience at the bar, as well as the divine cocktails!
Would kill for the white peach grits recipe, would settle for an order the size of a sand pail.
Service, ingredients, preparation, presentation -all a complete delight!
Enough of a reason for a trip to Charleston.
And the bourbon smash at the bar was soooo A++++!
We enjoyed a great birthday dinner for Mom’s 80th celebration dinner.
We went to celebrate my gierfriwnds birthday and had a great experience.
Had an anniversary dinner here and Circa 1886 made sure to make it very special. We were treated like royalty - very friendly service, wonderful food, comfortable ambiance. I’m vegetarian and they were very accommodating to my needs. Thank you, Circa 1886 for making our first anniversary such a memorable experience.
Circa 1886 was probably the best dining experience I have had in Charleston. We celebrated our one year wedding anniversary and the staff went above and beyond to make it special for us. The atmosphere is perfect - elegant, classy, quiet. The food was phenomenal. Our server Emily was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. We will definitely return.
Absolutely one of the best meals we have enjoyed in a long time. The restaurant does not disappoint in any area! Food and service are exceptional. We will return on our next visit to Charleston!
I was told that Circa 1886 was an experience not to be missed. After one evenings dinner I must say it is true. What an exceptional meal, ambience, and service!!! Austin, our waiter, knows the food and the wines. Three of the four of us had the chefs five course meal with wine pairings. The food was beyond delicious and each wine paired spectacularly with each dish. The variety was a party for your tastebuds. Don’t miss out on experience.
Great atmosphere, excellent food, outstanding service...
Circa 1886 was everything it was billed as... from the walking through a beautiful garden to arrive at the front door to the stunning presentation of each food course. Ann, our waitstaff, was impeccable—-providing the kind of service one expects at a 5star restaurant—-while not being overbearing. We have eaten at many great Charleston restaurants—had wonderful food—and do not plan on returning. Not that there is anything wrong with the restaurant—-more that there are MANY great restaurants in town. This restaurant we definitely WILL RETURN ago visit—-and were already scheming who we would take with us.
Had a fantastic dinner for hubby’s birthday. Service was excellent (Ann). Great for special occasion or just great meal.
Excellent food, particularly the antelope and my wife enjoyed the chicken fried salmon.
We were here on vacation from Scotland and have to say Southern Hospitality really exists! Not the cheapest meal that we have had in America but as the saying goes you get what you pay for and we definitely got what we paid for! Excellent service, food and ambiance!
Need we say more??
My wife and I come here every year for our anniversary and more. Our servers are always great. And this time our server was Sarah. She was wonderful !!
We were passing through Charleston, and were only going to be there for a night, and chose Circa 1886 for our one dinner . We were not disappointed. Food, service, location, and ambiance were all outstanding. This is a world-class restaurant that could hold its own in New York, London, or Paris.
Had a fantastic time. GREAT food and the staff was outstanding!
Iv been to many iron chef restaurants. This place is better.
Delicous, good service, comfy chairs, nice ambiance.
Dinner with daughter attending interview at CofC
The food was outstanding, Great dining experience.
Outstanding food, great ambiance. Most of the staff was fantastic, but the waitress seemed very distracted and we barely saw her. As she only had one other table, it was a bit odd in an otherwise amazing place.
Amazing historic carriage house, wonderful food and attentive waiter.
