A very knowledgeable staff, and super presentation of each course. Each of us bragged that we had the best entree. So happy we were able to dine before the arrival of "Florence"

Good and service very good. My husband was upset that only the restaurant week menu was available. They did let us have 2 appetizers rather than a a dessert.
We came for restaurant week and overall the experience was good. I was a bit disappointed with the coffee brined antelope (I felt it was gamey which is probably the nature of the animal) but everything else was quite good. However, there wasn’t anything I had in particular that stood out to me. The presentation of everything was nice.

We loved our dinner at Circa 1886! ALL of the food and drinks were delicious. With every bite we were saying "ooh yum". The environment was lovely and the staff was wonderful. We liked it so much we went back for dessert the next night! We would strongly recommend and we will definitely go back next time we're in Charleston. If you're not able to make a reservation they do have a bar area, but do try to make reservations!

This place never disappoints. The best fine dining restaurant in Charleston hands down. Their soufflé is amazing no matter which you get. If you’re luck you can get the peach vodka soufflé in season or their s’mores soufflé either way they don’t dispppint on entree nor dessert. This is the place to treat yourself and that special someone.

The food was superb, the ambiance cozy, the service impeccable. Little extras like a complimentary tasting of tuna and aioli and a demitasse of mushroom soup with truffle oil were much appreciated. The presentation of the appetizers, entrees, and desserts were stunning. We will go back.
We did not know it was a limited menu due to Restaurant Week but they had a good selection at a great value. The food was delicious and the service was top notch. They served a little cup of mushroom soup with truffle oil between the appetizer and entree that was amazing. Will definitely go back!
We recently had a chance to visit Charleston during Restaurant Week. Our 1st call was to Circa 1886 for reservations. Our dining experience was exceptional and epic for us. Absolutely wonderful food.

This is a very special restaurant in every sense. Absolutely outstanding! Restaurant is housed in a converted stable on the property of the Wentworth Mansion -- the charm is unparalleled. My husband and I dined here to celebrate our anniversary and it was the best meal we had in the entire city. The food was inventive and creatively presented -- perfect in every way. Service was impeccable. If you can only go to one restaurant in the city, this is the one!!

We were half an hour late for our dinner but they were very cordial and happily sat us. We were there for our third Wedding annivesary (I mentioned it in the open table reservation). It was quiet quaint setting. The waitress was very attentive and accommodating and greeted us immediately by wishing us Happy Anniversary! She replaced my husband's glass of wine when I mentioned he preferred my glass (and let him keep the original glass of wine). The food was excellent. We wanted to share the Napa cabbage salad o they plated them separately for us. The steak and blue cheese fume was extremely tasty! I don't even like blue cheese! The deconstructed stawberry shortcake was to die for. They surprised us after dinner with two complimentary glasses of champagne! I parked on the Inn property but only after I had called ahead and got permission. Unfortunately, I got a ticket anyway (parking is apparantely only for Inn guests). I explained to the Maitre D who had my bill adjusted for the amount of the ticket (which I still had to pay). Very friendly staff. Very classy establishment! Wonderful food (and I'm a tough crowd!). Easily five out of five!
Circa well exceeded our expectations and Austin was a fabulous waiter! Very often restaurants with good ratings have chefs who try too hard and actually create dishes where the flavors all overwhelm each other, creating confusion on the palate and a poor dining experience. That was not the case at Circa 1886, as Austin had assured us when asked. The flavors and presentations were spot on! As was the hand crafted ginger beer that my husband had. It was a marvelous anniversary dinner and we will definitely go,there the next time we are in Charleston.
Wow! I consider myself a foodie, and I definitely have eaten at many restaurants before, but this one was PHENOMENAL! Every appetizer, entree, and dessert was absolutely delicious. I’m the adventurous eater in the bunch so I felt like I should order the antelope and it was so worth it. Mom - who always says she doesn’t really like scallops - ordered the scallops and raved about them. Dad’s beef was very good - though probably the least favorite of the three. I highly recommend the pork cheek appetizer, which was extremely tender and tasty. And make sure you leave room for the desserts - we each ordered one, were given an additional one, and cleaned all 4 plates! I would definitely go back here!
Kaitlyn was beyond friendly & attentive! We couldn’t have asked for a better server! The food, every single bite of every single item we ordered, was outstanding! Our experience could not have been one bit more perfect than it was❤️
Outstanding dining experience!
We were celebrating my Mothers 84th birthday & wanted a special evening. We had the tasting menu which was ok but every course was very under-seasoned & we were told 2 of us could not get the short ribs as they were out of them (seemed strange given our early evening dining reservation). Everything needed salt. My Mom's short ribs came & there was no meat at all - entirely all fat! I give staff credit as they agreed & brought her a replacement. But everyone else was done eating by the time she got hers. Staff did take a little money off the bill & brought us a glass of prosecco which was nice. In a place that is trying to do fine dining & charges high dollar, I expected it to be "spot on" so was a little disappointed.
We had a romantic and delicious anniversary evening. The complimentary chef offerings were a nice touch and let us experience his unique offerings!

Wonderful ambiance for a romantic evening. Food is excellent. Wonderfully prepared and perfect portions. Service is perfectly attentive, just the right amount of attention for a date night. I would highly recommend for a date night, special occasion or anniversary!
Boyfriend and I went for date night and were absolutely blown away. From the stellar food by the brilliant Chef Collins, to the gorgeous ambiance of dining in a converted historic carriage house, to the impeccable service by Emily, the whole evening was perfect. We will definitely be back to try out the tasting menu next time!
