Revisited Fisherman's Wharf after honeymooning in SF over 33 years ago. Delighted to find tasty cioppino in a vibrant wharfside restaurant by the same name as our favorite seafood dish! Glad we came back to find Cioppino's!
Service was good, food was excellent,a great place to go for seafood!
It was expensive, and food was below average. It was our anniversary, and the food quality was below expectations.
Service was great, Cioppino was good not great, a little blander then I would have liked. I wish it had been quieter:( very loud due to customers yelling. Hostess was super unfriendly to us and other guests she was seating. Saw her rolling her eyes at some other guests. Overall service helped make experience better.
There were a lot of little flying bugs at our table next to the window. Not pleasant.
Food and service was good especially being on a touristy areaZ highly recommended
Lots of fun. Able to sit outside. Staff were great and funny. Pizza, crab cakes, salads were our great dinner. Awesome spot!
We had a nice table and the service was very good, but food was awful. My husband had chicken on his pasta, which tasted old like out of the fridge and warmed up in the microwave. He gave it back and got pasta with mussels, clams and shrimps. He had a bad clams, which was not fresh and tasted fowly. They took it off of the bill but we would never go there again.
Staff were very good and handled a 70 th Birthday with little prompting, would recommend to any one visiting San fransisco
We had been recommended this restaurant by a friend. The pizza was small (for the price) but very tasty and perfect for someone with a small appetite. The lasagne was brilliant but the bruschetta wasn't crispy, it was more stale than anything. I would recommend and I would go again but don't expect anything particularly fancy!
As a local, I assumed this place would be a tourists trap but the food was great! Our waiter was a GEM. The crab was delicious roasted in GARLIC!!
Went for 20 th anniversary. It was a fun evening. The crab was really good but a little heavy on the garlic. We will go again.
Not near as good as expected after reading the reviews. Real disappointed in the 5% added to the ticket for help with healthcare and minimum wage. We just paid 5% less tip.
The food was great we enjoyed the restaurant
Good food and service Very pleasant waiter
And seated by window with view of Fisherman s Warf. Would recomemd
Good food but very loud. Great spot to meet friends for food/drink but pretty noisy for a dinner date.
Food was terrible. Worst bruschetta I've ever had and I've had a lot - barely any basil and dripping in balsamic. Jumbo prawns with bacon didn't have a lot of flavor. Location was okay, but they have the patio on the street side rather than. Toward the ocean which was disappointing. Umbrellas in he patio would've been appreciated as sun was brutal facing west. Bill was huge considering what we were served. Wont be back.
Expensive for what it was.
Good service, good food
Food was decent but felt like I was in an inexpensive diner. Not sure why, but did not feel like it was a place for an adult meal. There were high chairs and kids everywhere.
Everyone was awesome. We had reservations but ended up showing up early. They so nicely accommodated us! Food was fantastic!
We ate there based on an online article someone wrote pertaining to the best restaurants for Cioppino. Well, the article had this restaurant rated high for the San Francisco area.
I ordered the Cioppino from the menu and my Wife ordered the Combo Seafood cocktail. We have had Cioppino a lot at other restaurants, but were very disappointed at this restaurant. The base of the Cioppino was bland, watered down tomato paste with no flavor. The fish in the Cioppino was also disappointing.
The restaurant is in a high traffic tourist area and due to this they probably mass produce the Cioppino and let it sit in a large pot all day in order to kick out the orders.
The Combo Seafood cocktail had two small shrimp and mound of crab meat that did not look appetizing at all. No presentation like a normal shrimp cocktail.
If you are in that area I would suggest a quick serve fish-and-chips place to save you money and disappointment.
The service at this restaurant is terrible. It was as if we were an inconvenience and the food was terrible. I would not go to this restaurant.
Great service. Lots of variety on the food. Good choices for desserts.
The Ciopinno was absolutely amazing with fresh seafood in an amazing tomato base!. Doesn't get better than this.
Their signature dish, Cioppino was delicious! It was quite pricy but I had to try it. They definitely didn't skimp on the seafood. The atmosphere was quite crowded and a bit noisy but we'd go back if we're ever back in San Francisco.
The food was pretty disappointing. The calamari had no flavor and was soggy. The chicken Parmesan tasted like something you would get from the frozen aisle. The bread was the best part and even then they don't serve it warm.
Our drinks came at least 10 minutes after our food(one of them being just a water...). We needed a side of ranch but never saw the server until the end.
Enjoyed a nice dinner here. We mainly had Italian entrees which were very good. One diner had the captain's tower which was really an overabundance of fried seafood. It is right on Fisherman's Wharf and thus tends to be populated with tourists. Overall, it is a fun place to eat and a great location for walking after.
This location was a nice view, if you are seated in the right location. The food was quite good as well, however, not worth the price charged. I am not sure what they believe is justifiable in terms of charging more, but if you're going on a date or a special night out, I could say it's "worth" the cost.
Advertize happy hour but must sit at bar to participate. When waiter realized we were not ordering apps drinks dinner and dessert he handed us over to someone else.
We met some friends for dinner who wanted seafood. We were all surprised how wonderful the food was . We had Cioppino, which was excellent. My daughter was craving spaghetti and meatballs, and and was pleasantly surprised at how very good that was as well. The fried calamari , was also excellent.
Great food and service, even when busy! Bacon wrapped prawns were wonderful, and so was fish & chips!
The main reasons we went to Cioppino were we wanted to go to a place other than Alioto's (which I've been to before), not a dress up place, and on the waterfront. Our server was friendly and efficient. Three of us had the cioppino which was excellent--lots of clams, mussels, squid, crab and whitefish. You have the option of getting the crab in the shell or shelled. The other member of our party had salad with grilled salmon. The salmon had a nice crust and was moist and tender. The only downside was the restaurant did not notify Open Table that we showed up for the reservation. There's other things on the menu we'd try next time.
We ordered the Cioppino. Was fantastic. Clam chowder was excellent. All seafood was great. Bread great. Drinks great. Pasta great.
Don't order a ribeye steak here. Very overpriced for basically a frozen grocery store steak. Sorry but it's true.
My wife and I ate here while on vacation based on the recommendation of the concierge at our hotel. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. I have to eat gluten-free due to Celiac Disease and the restaurant has gluten-free pasta options. One of the managers brought our food out and when I asked if my dish was gluten-free he went back to the kitchen to double-check. When he came back out to tell me that it was, he thought he saw 2 different types of pasta in the dish and immediately grabbed the dish to have the kitchen remake the meal because he didn't want me to get sick just in case there was any cross-contamination. His attention and concern were comforting. I got the Bolognese and my wife got the chicken park and we both loved our food. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
The Cioppino signature dish is OUT OF THIS WORLD!! Perfect seafood medley that dances in your mouth.
Love this place. I recommend to everyone who gets to be in San Francisco. It's name is its signature!
Personable staff with friendly service. The food was tasty and as one would expect from an establishment on the San Fran waterfront, it was a bit more expensive. An appetizer, two entrees, two drinks, and a double expresso was $88 (with tax without tip). Wouldn't make a special trip back just to go there, but might revisit with company visiting the waterfront.
Food was good. Location was good. When weather is warm outside dining is available. Varied menu in a "seafood" city was good for those who wanted something else.
Our server (Raul) promised a great evening for my fathers birthday and he came through. We came late so he was towards the end of his shift but he had so much energy we honestly couldn't tell. Our waters were always full, we didn't have a long wait for food and we were able to enjoy conversation (most restaurants in the city rush customers definitely not cioppino's). The cioppino tasted delightful and everyone enjoyed their main dishes. The dessert was rich (molten lava cake). Only complaint on food was the calamari, at the wharf there's so much great seafood to try so this is one to skip. The whole staff was friendly and acknowledged us as we came in and out of the restaurant. Will definitely come back and bring more people. Thank you Cioppino's and thank you Raul
