Don’t order the house Chianti at 36.00. It tasted like a two dollar bottle. The cioppinno was good. A little to much tomato puree for my taste. I prefer a more broth style.
All in all it was pleasant.

Visiting San Francisco with Family. This restaurant was recommended by a local bicycle rental shop owner. Close to the Cannery and only about 2 1/2 blocks from our Hyatt Centric hotel.
Each of the four meals was excellent. I had the Pacific Snapper and my wife had a crabmeat sandwich. I cannot remember the other two meals as there was wine involved. Excellent meal...
I would eat there regularly if I lived in San Francisco!!!

Cioppino was So Good!
The food was very good and the Cioppino it was named for is excellent. Service was just ok as they are in a high tourist area and their goal is to get people in and out quickly.

Was very disappointed with this restaurant. The food was not very good and it was overpriced. Very much a “tourist trap”. The service was also very slow and when you did finally have a server come over they felt like they were rushing you.

Service was slow. Food menu needs serious updating. The "warm apple dumpling" was ice cold so the ala mode never melted. My fettacini noodle dish had spaghetti noodles mixed in. Don't waste your money

The Clam chowder was great! And everything else we ordered wss really good as well.
The service could
definetely be improved on. Our waitress seemed to be in a constant rush (despite the place not being full) and getting the waitstaff’s attention was hard. The meals did come out fast though.
Overall I would recommend that someone go if they asked, I wouldn’t consider it a “must” restaurant though.

Wait staff was great and offered suggestions. Waiter checked on me periodically to make sure I did not need anything. Place was clean and had an inviting look to it from the outside. I was visiting so it was my first time there and a good experience.

The Cioppino’s signature meal was AMAZING! My boyfriend is nearly full Italian and he approved of this. Great meal for a good price.

Flew into San Francisco for a day with the girlfriend for the first time from San Diego. We're both from the east coast and haven't experienced authentic Italian food since the move, as it's not incredibly easy to find. This reminded us of our family, our heritage, and the amazing food that stems from it. Even with all of the amazing views and experiences, coming to Cioppino's was still one of our favorite parts of the vacation. Thanks for your services! I'll be coming back for more.

Got there around 7 on a Friday night. Busy, but still available seating. We had the Chicken Farfalle pasta and the special, Cajun Seafood pasta. Love their fresh sourdough bread! Food was quick and delicious.

The atmosphere was very inviting and not too loud even with many people around. The service was terrific and it’s unfortunate that I can’t give it more stars because MY meal was amazing and very delicious but everyone that didn’t order one of the “signature” dishes (the crab, the Cioppino or the seafood feast), was quite unimpressed with their meal. They had the chicken parm and the fish and chips. That was disappointing. I’d definitely recommend this place if you plan on getting one of their delicious specialities.

Everything was great. They had a wine list, but it was limited at best. Food of this quality should have been paired with a better list. Other than that, great place for good food.

Great experience. Crowded Saturday night on a holiday weekend but we were seated as soon as we checked in. Best shrimp scampi linguini I ever had...light sauce bursting with flavor, shrimp cooked perfectly. Excellent appetizers also - we had olives (buttery taste!) , crab cocktail , and bruschetta.

The food and service were good, but the restaurant was warm (a/c finally turned on when our dessert course arrived!--and the back room we were in filled completely--despite us having mentioned the heat to the waiter when we were first seated). The food was good (nothing fantastic), but a great selection for all the picky eaters in our group. Our party of 7 got seated with our reservation quickly.

It took FOREVER to get even a glass of water here! But once someone came over, the food came quickly. The cocktails were less than spectacular. The Cioppino and the sausage pizza were delicious though! It was extremely loud inside. The food was great, but everything else was just ok.

On a fairly slow night it took far too long to be served. Our appetizer was barely warm and just ok. It was a crab dip that came with only 4 skimpy pieces of bread.
Our lasagna was ok...we've had much better.
The wine, like most places in CA, was overpriced but decent.

Cioppino's turned out to be a tourist trap. I was expecting something more personalized, given that it calls itself a family owned and run restaurant, and I was expecting a somewhat more refined cuisine given the city it is in. The seafood was fresh, no doubt, but prepared with a heavy hand, and the same sides accompanied all dishes.

We were met at the desk by a woman that knew our names. She did not look at the reservation first. The service was very personal. The manager came out and spoke to us for a few minutes. We felt very special the entire night.

The cioppino was everything we hoped it would be! With all of the seafood in it, portion, and toasted bread, it was a great value too. The roasted olive appetizer (special) was simple and amazing.

Revisited Fisherman's Wharf after honeymooning in SF over 33 years ago. Delighted to find tasty cioppino in a vibrant wharfside restaurant by the same name as our favorite seafood dish! Glad we came back to find Cioppino's!
