Had a great time at Cioppinos-had a nice bottle of wine with our meal. Prices were fine for a restaurant right on Fishernans Wharf. My sister and I shared the Cioppino very tasty and enough for both of us. Everyone else enjoyed their food selection - crab sandwiches, salad, fishernans platter, crab cakes all got the thumbs up. We Areli al so we will come back! Nice friendly service too - very accommodating .
It was an amazing meal and the service was exceptional. Cheers to all!
This restaurant was recommended by friends. I had the Cippiano special. It was delicious. My husband had the lasagne which he enjoyed thoroughly.
The only issue was that the table felt sticky
Been here 3 times, Great menu, great seafood, super nice staff, good wine elist, worth the price!
Everything was very good. I had the house specialty. A bit annoying that I had to pay $5 extra to have the crab legs removed from their shell. Otherwise, very pleased.
Have the cioppino. It's the best in the city! Actually, the cioppino is excellent amd rivals Scoma's version. (It's thicker than Scoma's version, but about equally good.)
Good food and great service. Very busy restaurant but we didn’t feel neglected.
I definitely recommend open table to reserve. We arrived and was seated right away. Seen a few walk ups where they waited longer over 30mins. Edgar was our server. He was attentive, funny where our orders were in and served right away. Always made sure we had our drinks refilled, bread warm and just overall he provided great service. Their signature Cioppino was delicious. We ordered alot of dishes. Very impressed with the Calamari n crab cake Appetizers. It was crunchy and had a light crisp where it just melted in your mouth! Would definitely go back again.
The crab cakes are amazing! I’ve had them at many fine restaurants and just love how they do them here. Nice atmosphere. I’ve only been here twice, and great both times. This last visit especially we had fabulous service.
The restaurant was lovely and the food was delicious. I was glad to have Open Table to book my reservation because it was small and busy. The Tiramisu was the best I've ever had.
Just in town, open late and accessible. No regrets on this choice
Bread was awesome. Cioppino was so so. Would have been better hotter. Hamburger in group was overdone.
Overpriced and mediocre food. So loud I could not hear across the tiny table
This place came highly recommended as "hands down the best Italian in the area" and it lived up to all expectations. I had the cioppino and it was delishous, the broth was rich and flavorful and they do not skimp on the seafood, the portions are large. Our server was amazing and very attentive without being overbearing.
Food was excellently prepared. Risotto was a little more oily than necessary but packed with flavor. Food tasted very fresh but the service stagnant. Appetizer and bread plates remained on the table throughout the meal and water was not rapidly refilled. Still a worthwhile experience for the good food. Would give it another shot.
It was good but not great. Once our server finally came over, he was attentive. I probably wouldn’t return. Mainly because there are so many other options available to experience in this area.
Located in the heart of Fisherman's Wharf, this restaurant was perfectly located close to our hotel. I was worried about it being too "Touristy" with it's Fisherman's Wharf location, but it was good food in a pleasant atmosphere. Prices were slightly higher than the value received, but it was reasonable for the location. We will return to this restaurant on our next visit to San Francisco.
We had a wonderful lunch here on our recent visit to the city. My daughter is vegan so there were even options for her besides a salad which is a plus! The clam chowder, the crab sandwich, the bruschetta & the minestrone soup were all excellent. We went earlier for lunch when it wasn't busy and the waiters were friendly and attentive.
My husband loves cioppino, and this is his favorite place to come for this dish. The cioppino is always loaded with all kinds of seafood goodies in a garlicky thick tomato broth. And I always find something tasty for myself. When we made our reservation, we requested as quiet a table as possible, and the restaurant did a good job of accommodating our request. The service is good, and our waiter was attentive to special requests we had regarding our food. We are looking forward future visits.
Food was amazing! All in my party ordered pasta and was served hot and delicious! Actually, The best pasta I had had in years! Perfection! Kudos to chef! Service was wonderful too! Highest ratings!!
Our choice to pick this restaurant was a last minute decision, but we were so glad that we did. What an amazing cioppino full of flavors that come at you from different angles, each piece of seafood added its own flavor and was so so good. One of the most unique dishes to try is the Roasted Olives Wow!!! Such a great idea and a must order. Crab cakes is an appetizer that I always like to try every time I see them on a menu, you can’t get any fresher than Cioppino’s for a good crab cake.
Delicious with attentive service! We enjoyed out visit and loved that they validate parking!
This was the second time we had been to the restaurant. The first experience we had was wonderful, this time, we were a bit disappointed. My husband and I had come over for the weekend to celebrate Valentine's Day. We had made a reservation and were able to get in a bit early but once we were there our server came to the table a total of 3 times, once to take our order, once to bring the check and once to take the check for payment. He was not very personable. The food was wonderful but I'm not sure we will be returning in the future.
I was on a girl's trip visiting San Francisco when I saw Cioppino's on Pier 39 and thought to try it. Our waiter was great, and the food tasted amazing. Being from Colorado I don't get to experience such fresh seafood, so when I bit into the calamari and it melted in my mouth, it was fantastic! Great place to eat!
Wait service was attentive; food was delicious
Casual dining atmosphere
Restrooms were in urgent need of attention when we were there Saturday night.
We were a party of 10. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The service was excellent - ask for Andrew. The food was very good. We had a variety of entrees - everybody enjoyed their food choices.
Great service! Fantastic pan fried calamari! Friendly staff!
Cioppino's was our first night in San Francisco and it was a really good feed! On entering the restaurant we were welcomed in and quickly shown to our seats! Service was good as our server didn't hover but was always near if we needed something! Food was enjoyable, my wife had the seafood risotto which she wouldn't stop talking about how good it was! Overall a great night and would recommend to others!
Amazing food!! Nice service!! Good atmosphere!! Loved the food !! Totally worth the value . Definitely going back
We visit Ciipinnos every year while vacationing in San Francisco. We love the food. Waiters, leave you only to enjoy and eat your food without bothering you every five minutes.
Xmas Eve was great at ciuppinos
Although the restaurant naturally attracts tourist because of its proximity to the wharf, it did not take away for our dining experience. We were seated next to the bar at a window table. We arrived early for our reservation...hostess asked for a minute to get table ready and quickly seated us. Our waiter, Rolando, was friendly and attentive. Our meals were delicious (grilled salmon, blackened salmon, cioppino, fish and chips, and clam chowder)...fresh sourdough bread, excellent! We were not disappointed!
Our family has a tradition of going to San Francisco before Christmas. The city is always beautiful, but thus time of year it truly dazzles. The past few years, we've had dinner at Cioppino's as part if our tradition. The food is wonderful, prices are reasonable, and they are well suited to accommodate our large party. This time we were taken aback, and disappointed by our reception. I made a 5 pm reservation, and we arrived a little early. The hostess who checked us in said, with a frown and a sigh, "It's 4:52. Your table isn't ready. Go sit in the bar and we'll call you."
So this review isn't about our food, which was all quite delicious: fantastic SF sourdough, creamy perfectly seasoned lobster and clam chowder, tasty seafood pasta and risotto, all chock full of seafood. Really good thin crust pizza. No. It's that greeting that put a real damper on our whole time there, and makes me think I'll look for a different restaurant next year.
the restaurant wasn't crowded. There were plenty of staff. (After that greeting when we went to wait, I saw 7 wait staff congregate at the hostess desk, and watched her seat several parties of 2 and 4. There were many open tables all through the restaurant.) It's about hospitality. Customer service and making us feel welcome from the minute we arrived. That didn't happen and I think it's unacceptable.
A waiter was delivering food and spilled a salad with balsamic vinaigrette onto my coat that was on my chair. I was in the restroom at the time. But when I returned I was very surprised on what happened. I thought for sure my night was ruined but the manager and service staff was extraordinary. They took care of the mess and my meal. The manager also offered to pay for my dry cleaning!!!
The food was outstanding btw. I recommend this place if you come to Fisherman’s Ward!
Very disappointed in the waitstaff. The hostess had a sour attitude from the moment we walked in - no smile, just grabbed menus and directed us to our seats, to her sourpuss face when we left. It gave the impression that she didn't want to be there and could care less about hiding the fact.
Our waitress didn't take the time to notice that we only had 1 place setting between the two of us. Had to ask her twice for another place setting. Then, she just seemed either forgetful or too busy to take our order.
The food, it was great. But I would think twice if I was hoping for a well-rounded experience that reflects the perception one would have of such a wonderful restaurant.
Don’t order the house Chianti at 36.00. It tasted like a two dollar bottle. The cioppinno was good. A little to much tomato puree for my taste. I prefer a more broth style.
All in all it was pleasant.
