Cioppino is always a big hit. The food is just excellent. Calamari appetizer was cooked to perfection. The scallops small dish was also fantastic. We had the grilled mahi mahi, lamb shank, duck ravioli and the linguini with prawns. Each dish had such a different flavor. We enjoyed all of them. Service is top notch. You cannot miss when visiting this restaurant!
We had a great time at Ciopinno’s lounge. Service and drinks were excellent. The music by the Contenders was great!! The manager Melissa did a wonderful job with the arrangements including wishing me a happy birthday on the menu!!
This is a go too for me. I have a gluten allergy. The kitchen made me special gluten bread to not feel left out. I love anyplace that does that. Appetizers, all of them, and my meal was awesome! I love that after dinner if a band is playing you can extend your night and relax at the bar.
The ownership staff of Cioppino are good people. I could tell they wanted to make it a good experience. Food was OKAY. Everything needed more seasoning. And I think they are a bit overpriced based on the quality.
I know they are bringing back their old chef which would do a world of good of creating a better dining experience. But the service alone is worth going back there.
My husband is interested in going to their cigar lounge as well.
In the past, I really enjoyed Cioppino. The cigar bar was and still is a highlight. However, the new menu seems to have been developed to improve margin and I found the meal underwhelming. The meat and cheese board in particular was disappointing as they removed all the variety from it. The main dish selection really did not excite me - everything seemed either too plain or too exotic. I settled on the gnocchi and it ended up being mostly kale covered in cauliflower cream sauce- very sulfurous and unbalanced in flavor. I did enjoy the steak salad, bread, and drinks.
Despite these changes, its still quite expensive. For what a meal costs here I expect to fully enjoy it, but it was only “OK” at best. I did not feel like I got a good value from my recent visit.
For the ambiance and price point, I expected better in terms of service and food quality. We were celebrating an anniversary and the host called me earlier in the day to see what we were celebrating so they could plan accordingly. When we arrived, we were seated at an extremely small table. The service was fine. Our server could’ve been more friendly and outgoing but he did a fine job. The food was just not up to par. We ordered the grilled squid, oysters, and a half of the ciopinno to start. The squid was overpowerly charred so you could not taste the squid itself. The ciopinno was completely off. It could not be called ciopinno, rather, seafood cooked in broth. The only positive to the ciopinno was that the seafood was cooked well. My husband ordered the ribeye and for $55 it was very disappointing. It was fatty, not marbled plus tough to chew. No one ever brought up our special occasion and we left disappointed with the experience.
This restaurant was not for us. The quality of the food was sad; meat was not seasoned, service was nice but rushed. Charcuterie board was sub-par. They gave a dessert for my husbands birthday, which was nice, but we should have known what we were getting when it was dead on a Friday night. Complimentary valet and scallops were the highlight.
Food lacked flavor and server forgot three different things we ordered. Likely will not return.
Valet parking a big help. Room is quite pretty. Limited options for vegetarians. Dessert sampler was a winner. Main courses good but not great.

Squid appetizer was very good, but beet salad was undercooked. Cioppino was chock full of seafood, very tasty even if the broth was thinner than expected. Sole meuniere was a perfect classic preparation. Overall a very good dinner.
I think maybe we just ordered menu items that were not their specialty, but my husband and I were underwhelmed. The beef cheeks were tasty but nothing special, and the “duck” ravioli had like maybe 6 small shavings of actual duck on top, though I enjoyed it; just felt a bit misleading.
We got the giant squid and some pink lady oysters as apps, and that was the best part. So again, I think maybe we just didn’t order the right stuff since it was our first time there. But it felt overpriced for what we got, regardless.
The ambiance and service were excellent, so I’d definitely be willing to give it another try.
Our prized reservation on Valentine's Day wasn't until 9:15pm and then we still waited 20 minutes after to be seated. The table wasn't set, and the wait staff took almost 10 minutes to bring us water. Our filet was ordered medium-rare, came out purple and raw. Sent back and came back well done and black. The Cioppino, signature dish came with a piece of bread the size of an average cracker, the seafood was cold, and the portion was not worth $44. At approximately 11pm they asked if we'd like another entree to replace ours. We ordered the Lamb Shank to go since it was so late. At the end of the night they said they removed $18 in wine from our order since the dining experience was bad. Sorry, but $18 off a $129 check is hardly compensation. I've lived here for 3 years and heard all about Cioppino's, and when we finally made it here I was definitely let down. Next year for Valentine's Day it is back to Ruth's Chris or Morton's Steakhouse. This place was definitely not worth the time or money. If you want an honest opinion, Firebird's in Cranberry beats this place hands down!
Food is always great... However my dish was not as expected... Generally Gnocchi is served very similar to ravioli. Mine was almost toasted. Which made it very dry...
my wife ordered a ceaser salad and the waiter said it comes grilled and said she couldhave it plain .When it came to the table it was grilled. I ordered the soup and when it was served it was cold. my wife ordered stake med well it came rare,sent it back came back very well done.
The wait time between courses was way too long.
This is my last visit to Cioppino thanks for a bad date night...

Lamb was cooked nice but lacked spice and potatoes were bland. Was alittle disappointing for the price
We went on Valentines day which is not normally a great day for a restaurant. Cioppino was a great exception. We were seated on time at a lovely window table. This section of the restaurant is very quiet and easy to maintain a conversation. Our food arrived nicely paced.
We shared a hummus "small plate" for an appetizer and had Sole and Strip steak entrees. Both entrees were delicious and well presented. We shared the dessert sampler which could have fed four people. Wonderful meal.
I went with my wife and 2 of our sons and we all had excellent meals and great service from Drew. I had the Scottish Steelhead Trout and it was amazing. They also have a very good wine list which we enjoyed.

Service was pretty slow considering the place was empty. But good was very good and service was very knowledgeable.

Amazing service, fabulous food from starters to desserts! Perfect place for a special night out. In my reservation, I let them know we were celebrating my husband's birthday in the reservation and when we're got there there was a card for him, special personalized menus, and happy birthday written in his dessert. He loved the cigar bar after dinner too. Highly recommend.
Overpriced, bland, & all around not good. I will never be going back. It had been years since we last attended, and things have gone downhill since! It's unfortunate.
Our dinners were among the worst I have experienced in a restaurant. The portions were small and the price was high. They charged $34 for prawns and linguini for unattractive serving of three prawns in the shell which when taken apart were three small to medium shrimp. My cioppino lacked flavor and the mussels and clams did not taste fresh.
I will certainly never again eat there.
I've never had a bad meal here. Beet salad was excellent and the Cioppino is the best I've ever had. The dessert sampler is more than enough for two. Service was prompt and friendly. Atmosphere is excellent and a jazz band was playing in the bar area that we could hear in the dining area but it wasn't real loud, which I like. We will be back.
The Restaurant Week menu had a great variety. The NY Strip Fiorentina and the Garlic Shrimp were excellent. Desserts were also delicious. We had the chocolate sticky cake and the apple cream cake. The wine list was extensive and contained something for everyone. The service was responsive, knowledgeable, and friendly. We visited the cigar bar as well. Great selection of cigars and drinks, service was also top-notch. Looking forward to our next visit.
Cioppino's at one time was one of the best restaurants in the city We used to eat here every other week. What the heck happened? When we arrived there were only four diners. ( Now we know why!) Our server James was outstanding! very attentive without being pushy. I ordered the pork belly small plate. I'm not sure what it was but it was not very good. Maybe it was me. My wife couldn't find anything on the menu that sounded appealing so she went with the chicken. She looked at me and said "Well you cant screw up chicken !" I guess the chef said " Hold my beer." She cut into it and it bleed all over her plate! She asked me to pay the tab and get out of there before she got sick. James was very apologetic and took her meal off the total which was nice. Once again the service was great just the food sucked. Please just go back to what made you so good! stop trying to be so complicated. PS the wine was outstanding!
Great experience. Live Jazz with a separate comfortable dining room. Our Waiter Raj was kind and attentive. Our entire group loved the food, the braised beef was perfect in my opinion. Cioppino has a creative selection of cocktails which lead the way to finish the evening with a few great cigars in their lounge.
As a frequent diner I will start with my filet was excellent and my wife’s salmon was delicious. The new menu leaves me pondering the advertised “Steakhouse” with only one steak option on the menu? Our guests were somewhat taken aback at the limited menu Entree selection. In our opinion, we much preferred the old menu options and selections.
Had a wonderful meal there in September and decided to recommend for NewYears to a group of friends. I made the reservation and we were seated in a back room I would have preferred the main dining room. We waited quite a while for anyone to bring menus or drinks or just show up
Three of us ordered filets at $40.00 each. That’s what I had ordered in September and it was wonderful. Unfortunately all
three steaks were a disgrace. Mind was undercooked, and tough , my husband received a very large piece that was chewy and definitely the cut that shouldn’t have been sold as a filet . The last and worst steak served went to our friend who ordered it because we said how terrific it was the first time. He received a tiny piece of meat no bigger than a medallion that was NOT an 8oz $40 dollar filet. The beef cheeks salad ordered by another friend was pure uneatable fat. We were also told the Asparagus that comes with the filets was gone.
All in all a very disappointing New Years dinner. I felt terrible recommending the restaurant but there won’t be any potential new customers and my husband and I won’t be back. We all spent a lot of money for a very poorly prepared and presented dinner
We love this restaurant and the personalized service we received. It started with the bartender who worked with us to make a special Patron XO martini that is no longer on the menu. From there we were served by our favorite waiter Tom, who always delivers outstanding service. The signature dish of Cioppino is of course cioppino, and the broth that it is served with has a depth and richness that is unparalleled, I highly recommend trying this dish. Thanks for a wonderful New Year’s Eve dinner, we loved it!
Tbh I was disappointed with the new menu. It offered too few choices in the fresh fish and beef selections. The experience was positive overall. Still one of the few places in Pittsburgh to enjoy a cigar after dinner, so I’ll be back for more!

Checked in at 5:07...dinner didnt arrive until 6:45...server would disappear...back room had a party and people kept spilling out and approacing on our table...after speaking with manager, she did attempt to make things right, but frankly, the experience was already lost.

The cigar lounge could use better ventilation. The food I ordered wasn't good, but that was more a result of my selection. My dinner mates loved their steak. I should have gone with the steak.
Dessert sampler was the absolute best of Iike offering any where on the planet. Every dessert sample selection was world class.
It was our friends birthday and the staff went above and beyond to make him feel celebrated! It was a wonderful experience!
