About
Sorry to see it go! A favorite of ours!
Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen was one of our favorite Napa restaurants. Sadly it closed for business on July 7. We enjoyed many great meals there, and were always happy to take our out-of-town guests there. See you at Mustard's!
Fabulous but it’s closing! 😢
I’m glad we got to go there, as the food was wonderful, and I understand they are closing soon
So sad to see a Saint Helena institution closing but it was a memorable last meal. Best wishes to all of the staff and owner Cindy Pawlcyn!
Overall disappointing and overpriced, slow service. Cute place.
We reserved a table at Cindy’s however when we showed up for our dinner the restaurant was closed! Surprised that opentable/ restaurant failed to let us know
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and our daughter’s birthday. The food was great as was the service. We first dined at Cindy’s 7 years ago and were excited to return. It was one of the best meals we had during our 4 day visit to the Napa Valley!
Sadly, this was our last dinner at Cindy’s since it is closing on 7/7/18.
We’ve been patrons since 2004, and it was our go-to place for celebrations and out of town guests.
The food was excellent, as usual, but with the restaurant only half-full at 5 PM Sunday, the service was slow. It took 10 minutes to get drink orders. A second round sat on the bar with no one paying attention. Inexplicable.
Courses arrived promptly.
We’re sad to see Cindy’s close. It was a Saint Helena institution.
We have been to Cindy's a handful of times and wanted to go one last time before they closed. I'm not sure if the staff was new or part time help, but our service was absolutely terrible.
First, the bottle of wine that we ordered, they said they didn't have, then they found it 10 minutes later. Our server was nice, but it took him a long time to event greet our table.
Another person ended up taking our order, and then our server came over and asked what we wanted for dinner. (?) The menus were cleared from our table and we weren't sure who was actually taking care of us. We had to ask for our water to be refilled and we waited for our food for over 45 minutes! The only saving grace was that the food was good, but living in Napa for the past 6 years, I have never experienced service this bad before. I couldn't recommend this place to any of my clients.
Will miss this place so much when they close next week. It's been a great run and we've enjoyed every bite and every sip at Cindy's over the years. Cheers to the whole staff and the owners-- hope to dine with you all again.
Awesome food. Always is at Cindy's
Had not been there in 6 years having moved from 30 miles away to 3000. Sad to hear it is closing in one week.
Our final lunch at Cindy’s, and it didn’t disappoint as usual. Stuffed pepper appetizer, duck burger and crispy fries, roast chicken. No room to have the campfire pie. Great server, who will stay local post-Cindy’s. This was a restaurant that understood its clients and place in St Helena - understated, convivial, great food.
Another wonderful Napa Valley Restaurant passes into history. It will be missed by one and all. Best wishes to you Cindy!!!
Best place in all of Napa. Always go there when in town. I am super bummed to see them closing. Thank you for all of the great meals.
Cheers
Great place great food. It’s a terrible shame they are closing
Too bad this great spot is closing. Unfortunately, the staff appear to have already left the building.
Going to miss CBK! Another great experience and killer fried chicken :)
Table was near the stairs and bar area, so there was constant traffic going by. Wines by the glass and half bottles were expensive, so we ordered a bottle even though we did not want to drink that much. Fish and chips was good but overpriced for one piece of cod and potatoes. My companion ordered the quail salad and got an ahi tuna salad instead; had to send it back and it took forever to be replaced with the right order. My meal was finished by the time hers arrived. Waitress said she "misunderstood" the order but she was obviously distracted, stressed or just wasn't paying attention. I had read beforehand that service was bad in recent months and almost cancelled the reservation. Wish now that I had as the overall experience was not commensurate with the cost of the meal. FIrst time there and would think long and hard before returning. Had a much nicer meal and ambiance in Bistro Jeanty in Yountville earlier in the month, and this was with a three year old in tow.
Great food, waitress took forever, cozy place but seating neighbors were really loud.
Excellent quality of ingredients and creative seasoning and preparation so that "simple" dishes were wonderful. Only the dessert was disappointing
Great as always. Super service!!
This was a 4-way birthday celebration for my husband and his 3 adult kids. Was PERFECT for the food, the ambiance and the great service by Hugo. Cindy's was with us every step of the way...planning and always a menu that makes you want to return to try all the dishes!!! Thanks, Cindy's!
We are so sad that Cindy’s is closing, but are always supportive of amazing chef Cindy and will continue to enjoy Mustard’s Grill! Cindy rocks!!
sat outside, great service, very good and REASONABLE wine list---much appreciated these days!
I have been a fan of all restaurants Cindy Pawlcyn related for as long as I can remember. I am at Mustard's a couple times a year for the last 20+ years. It never disappoints and anyone I take falls in love with it. Hadn't been to CBK for many years but my husband picked it for Father's Day this year and we loved it. Creative, Farm to Table, Comfort Food, great ambiance... In all my years of being a foodie I had never had Fried Green Tomatoes - they were delicious and topped with a grilled prawn and served with remoulade sauce. The Caesar is the best on the planet. Delicious grilled quail and spinach salad and my husbands special baby back ribs served with mac n cheese and grilled corn on the cob was bone lickin worthy! Perfect end to a day of bike riding and wine tasting (Larkmead!!!)
Great food in downtown St. Helena. Very quaint and rustic. Food was excellent and the service was on point. Great for everyday occasion.
As usual, the ambiance and food were wonderful. We always enjoy ourselves and look forward to coming back again and again. Thank you.
I could not wait to get out. It seemed like a local place with a lot of the same people coming again and again. But, it took forever to get our food and water refilled. It was Soo hard to track down a waiter. They seemed to be walking around a lot. But, they weren't coming to our table. Overall, the service and environment didn't make the food worth it.
Great lunch spot, food was top notch and will revisit in the future. Rabbit tostadas were excellent !!!
After I accidentally booked the wrong evening, the staff could not have been more accommodating when we arrived. Cocktails were on point and atmosphere is great. Love this restaurant! Will always come back when in town.
We dined at the bar and met very friendly local people. The service at the bar was really good thanks to Wilbur. It’s a very comfortable atmosphere with fantastic menu options.
Cindy's has a comfortable, charming interior, an historic buildling that has been carefully rennovated in a classic, bright and open way. Excellent service -- staff couldn't have been nicer, even bringing us complementary champagne for our anniversary. Table spacing and noise level were just right for an active restaurant.
For food we ordered a mix of things including the wild mushroom flatbread, Caesar salad (it was not overdressed like most Caesar salads), and fried chicken. It was all quite good.
Cindy's is on our list of places to return.
We would go back in a heartbeat! Food was incredible, every bite! Thank you, Juan for fun and efficient service. We will ask for you next time!
Once again Cindy's does not let us down, food ambience and service were all as usual excellent. The Halibut dish was par excellence and my all time favourite is the Rabbit Tostada. Well worth the visit.
The food was wonderful as always but the service was awful. They were apparently missing people somewhere and that threw the operation off. The couple next to us could not get their food, then his came, then he finished, then hers came. We tried to order wine but could not get it. Luckily, we ordered identical dinners and they both came out at the same time. That was good.
Favorite place we ate in whole Napa area, incredible food and service
The service for our dinner was poor. We ordered a starter, but it was never delivered. No water refills were offered during our meal, and when I requested more when the bill was brought out, I was only given a refill when I was about to leave. The food is fantastic, but the service does not live up to it.
Excellent service. Nice small outside space
