Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
Although I had heard good things about this restaurant, I was disappointed in the food. I ordered the homemade meatloaf which I found bland and unnotable. My husband ordered the hangar steak entree which was stringy and chewy. The ambiance was nice, the service more than adequate, but I would not go back there with the plethora of fine restaurants in that area.
We went to Cindy's to celebrate a birthday and loved it. We shared the polenta fries and stuffed peppers which were both very delicious! Cindy's was also very accommodating and helpful in making a dish vegetarian for me. Our server insisted that I give him feedback about the dish to make sure that it actually tasted good, which it did! I would definitely go back!
Ambience was good. Very busy yet not loud. Service was friendly but not always timely -- food was served before settings placed several times.
The food was uneven. The salads were disappointing. The soup of the day had wonderful fresh sweet peas in it. The specialty drinks were interestingly described with unique and
intriguing combinations but did not live up to the hype. The fresh pasta, crab cakes , grownup grilled cheese, and polenta fries were a hit. Coffee was wonderful & flavorful.
Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen is a small, wonderfully thought out restaurant. The service is very good and the menu is varied and interesting. It is obvious that great attention is paid to items in season. The wine list is thoughtful with something to interest everyone. I look forward to my third visit!
We made a late Saturday night reservation but they were still busy at that hour.
The server was inattentive - it took quite a long time for him to acknowledge us. We ordered appetizer and glasses of wine and the appetizer came out immediately, followed much later by our wine. It took quite a while for our server to come out and take our entree order.
My girlfriend ordered the ahi tuna salad and enjoyed it. I had the chicken fried steak and was very disappointed. I was expecting a special twist on it but there was nothing unique about the steak, potatoes or accompanying spinach. It certainly was not worth $22.
Cindy's came highly recommended by friends and other reviewers - which made it more disappointing.
We tried this one after Mustard and Go Fish. Probably the more humble of her restaurants. The food was good, but not amazing. But understand me here, Mustard is really good and some of the dishes are just stunning... At Cindy's kitchen the food was good, butu we did not get impressed as we had in mind... Sadly our waiter was really bad... He forgot to order an appetizer, I had to remind him for my wine, my wife got up to get the desserts menu... And we had an early reservation at 5h30 on a Saturday because of a play... You figure that around 6h30, the volume of guests should be that you have a full staff around 5h30... But anyway... My two cents
I like this place because they have good food without costing an arm and a leg. The location is cozy and would be more romantic if they weren't right along the Napa wine train's railroad tracks. The portions are also decent so that you don't need three courses to fill up.
We went with five diners at 7:30PM but were still seated immediately even though I had not been able to spot the open table in the crowd. The menu was multifaceted and engaging. The daily specials were well explained by our server who was also a solid promoter of their wine selections. One thing I really liked was the "Dinner Club" specials which offer the diner a globetrotter's adventure if the guest was to return often enough. For our visit they were offering South American fare I had just seen on one of the travel channels. Other days would cover other locations. It was fun. The star of the table was a regular side dish. The Polenta Fries were subtle in taste and texture yet managed to be the item most fondly remembered.
I've never had a bloody mary drink that tasted this good and I don't think I will ever find a better one. I would go here just for the bloody mary's, its just that good! They told me all the ingredients were made fresh and I believe it. The duck is also spectacular, definitely one to try. I can't wait to go back and try something else, along with another bloody mary.
This was a wonderful experience!!! We were greeted so well at the front desk by a delightful, cheerful, friendly hostess!! it got even better!! It was my friend's 80th Birthday and at the end of our lunch, the young hostess came over and expressed her congratulations!! A friendly gentleman at the next table overheard her and was so very kind and expressed his congratulations as well!!! when we were ready for our bill , our serviceman informed us that the gentleman at the next table had all ready taken care of our lunch bill!! Everything was not wonderful at the restaurant but your other customers were most kind and made our experience one to remember!!! When you reach the age of 80, these surprises seldom happen.!
It was a wonderful dinner: the food was fantastic and the staff was attentive and knowlegable. It's not up to them how loud other patrons converse, unfortunately, two of the neighboring tables were quite loud and distracating.... took away from the overall experiennce, HOWEVER, I'll go back there again and again and again....
Our Server was outstanding. She was very attentive and fun. The Manager on duty was extremely helpful with a special request and the bartender was also friendly and helpful. However the food was disappointing. The meatloaf lacked character and was virtually flavorless. The quail was also uninspiring and "just okay". We had read so many great reviews of Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen that our expectations perhaps exceeded what the restaurant was capable of delivering.
This is my second time at your establishment. The flavors of the food are complex and deeply satisfying. I felt very conscious, with every bite, of the combination of different flavors that created the combined taste that made up each bite. I love the fact that the no-heat-o is on the menu -- as someone who does not drink for religious reasons, I often find myself feeling as though there is nothing special on the menu to drink, but this drink means that I can also order something special, which I really appreciate. My only suggestion is that an excellent gluten free bread be added to the menu so that those of us with gluten allergies can enjoy the bread and butter, and potentially, some of your delicious sounding sandwiches.
Basic fare very well done. The appetizer was good (rabbit tostada) though the side of fries was too oily and the mayo-based dipping sauce had no flavor.
For main courses, we had winter-ish meals at lunch : the duck and osso buco and they were delicious. Dessert was overpriced for what it was (Sour cherry bread pudding) and not well made. Skip dessert and enjoy the main courses.
Very friendly and attentive service which was appreciated as we arrived early for our reservation and we were seated immediately.
Cindy's was quite impressive. The selections offered were not the usual fare. I was in a group of four and all ordered a different entree which each raved about. In fact, as we entered and were seated, the lady leaving the table next to us suggested two meals which she said were also excellent. The wine was superb and the service fabulous! Our every need was catered to. The food arrived hot and the entire meal was well paced from appetisers to desert.
The interior is well designed, very clean and the other patrons as well as the help were very friendly!
This is a great place to dine and worth every penny you spend!
