I loved my whole experience with Cinderlands! The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The HARISSA MARINATED HALF CHICKEN was amazing!! The service was excellent and very friendly. I can't wait to go back the next time we are in Pittsburgh.
Beer is great but if you're looking for food, go to their other location. I went with a group of four hungry drinkers, and not one plate was cleaned. We love food, like love love just about anything. But to strike out with four of the handhelds and two apps is a rough night. Service was great tho! We've dined in the strip and that kitchen was incredible!
I was very excited to book my husbands birthday dinner with friends at cinderlands. We’ve always had good experience and the food is delicious. However. This experience really altered my opinion of them and ultimately my view for the future. I had been in contact with the event planner for reserving an upstairs area for the dinner with friends. I was told this would be communicated and would have the upstairs area. ( great). When we got to the restaurant , we were told by the hostess we were seated downstairs in the back room. ( not upstairs where I had made reservation). When I inquired about this change I was simply told a bigger party booked in that space. I was really disappointed as I wasn’t told in advance which would’ve made the experience a lot more tolerable. The last straw was when we were leaving . I noticed that the upstairs area was not actually taken by 20 ppl but rather 8. Very disappointed in the whole process and lack of communication or apology for the change in my plans. Will not be returning due to this.
Love it there. Original spot is the best.l vs the new warehouse.
The beer was delicious. they should probably simplify menu and emphasize the beers. So many great food options in Pittsburgh that are better, however. Sandwiches just were a bit bland and dry. Our table all had different things and nothing was outstanding. Fries were good but a bit too salty. Overall,
Eric is one of the best chefs in the country. I would put him up against anyone else, he wins! That includes all your “celebrity” chefs as well.
He creates flavors that you didn’t know existed. Service throughout the joint is fantastic. You feel like family when you are there. We are so excited to be here in Pitt, if for no other reason than to frequent Cinderlands.
Surprised by the excellent, elevated,
Creative dishes here - I would recommend trying it. Beer was great too. The only issue was their air conditioning broke, so our stay became uncomfortable toward the end.
Fun fresh atmosphere and fantastic beer!! We went on a Sunday afternoon so they only offered a limited brunch menu. Three of our 4 entrees were pretty good but their signature chicken and donuts was a little underwhelming. Our server wasn’t too attentive and we had to ask the person who delivered our food for refills. Nothing that will stop us from going back to try the dinner menu and/or their Strip District location.
Nice evening with good friends. Awesome service! Loved the dad’s beer!
Great upscale bar food, cocktails and of course, craft beer!
I love Cinderlands and go regularly both for the excellent beer and delicious food. However, the restaurant week options were just ... bad. Like really awful. Of the 3 taco options we had the ceviche (shrimp) and the lamb/eggplant tacos. The shrimp ones were fine, though the tortilla itself was hard to get through; mealy and dry and unappetizing. The lamb tacos came cold and the miso-glazed eggplant was foul. Either the eggplant had gone bad before cooking or it was significantly overcooked, but we could not finish them after a couple bites. I was shocked as I've never had something even close to gross at Cinderlands. Hope the next visit won't be similar. :(
Delicious and unusual brunch menu and outstanding beers.
Good food and atmosphere.
We didn’t eat there. They have an “open concept” kitchen and the staff doesn’t wear gloves. I don’t like watching someone touch their hair, face, hat, etc...then touch my food. Also watched them use towels to wipe off their faces the their hands then clean plates. At one point they were trying to scrape off food leftovers off a pan, and instead of using a spatula, they used their fingernails.
You’d think they’d have a little more couth knowing people can see them. I don’t need to see you knuckle deep in a container of feta after you just wiped off your forehead.
Service was spot-on! We sat upstairs and our server must have climbed the stairs 20 times waiting on us. Unfortunately I tried 4 beers and didn’t like any of them. I also had the turkey frisco melt sandwich, which was VERY greasy. For some reason the 2 locations on the website were confusing. I thought the reservation was for the Strip location. But, perhaps that was just user error, although our server stated that others made the same mistake.
It was interesting to try the new location. Music was so loud, it felt like we had to keep our voices raised all throughout dinner. Nice service, hip and trendy atmosphere. Food was a little over priced for the type of food offered.
Nice place and the food was alright. We sat in the back in a booth for dinner and the sun shined straight into my eyes the whole time because they didn't have any blinds. It was a small dining space but was very noisy at times. Would return despite the seating in the back!
I really love this place for their good beer, quirky menu and atmosphere. We had a range of ages at our table (22-62) and there was something for everyone on the menu and with the music. We were there late afternoon on a Sunday and the atmosphere was chill and we sat, ate and talked.
The burgers were great!
Only minor grip is that the music was really loud.
Great service, beer, and food
We booked a table for 7 and were sat in the loft. For the most part, the server was attentive. There was one glitch when we waited 15 minutes for our second round of drinks. The food is always good. Our server made suggestions that worked very well.
Awesome staff and drinks. The service was amazing and their beer is very good. The food was a little odd. Not bad, just weird. I was with a group of 5 and we all had different meals and agreed on the food so I don’t think it was just me. I’ll definitely come back, just might not have dinner again.
I liked the beer and chicken sausage I ordered but the rest of the menu did not appeal to my palate.
I think we are too old to appreciate this place.
Nice vibe. Food is quite tasty. Oh, yes there are some very nice beers too. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Cinderlands in Lawrenceville (haven't been to the big one in the Strip).
Fun casual eatery- great drink menu. Awesome food for the price. It’s a great choice for inventive dishes in a cool vibe!
We had a great server that took time to describe the menu to us on a busy Saturday. Our meal and beer was innovative and delicious, we'll be back!
This was fantastic. We are currently working through a list of sustainable restaurants in Pittsburgh and we have both delicious food and drink here. The spent grain chicharrones are not to be missed.
Our server was amazing. She was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about both the menu and beer selections.
Great service, food and beer ! I would recommend this restaurant.
The beer was good, but the food left a lot to be desired.
The beer here is great. I got to eat the delicious spicy chicken sandwich and definitely do not regret it. I'm excited to come back next time I'm in town!
Had a really great experience, but the waitress was not warm or engaged even a bit crabby.
Fun atmosphere, not congested. There were board games in the loft area to occupy ourselves with while the food was getting ready. Interesting menu layout. The main big dishes were sandwiches but you could definitely get full by splitting all the For The Table food options. Not loud, we had a screeching baby so we were probably the main source of the noise haha!! Fries were good but a little bit the salty side. Same with the falafel. The chicken and donuts are definitely the largest portion on the For The Table list. Would recommend. Overall, a good time.
Great food, mine was a little cold hence the 4 stars but the Scottish Egg was delicious and the biscuits and gravy tasty. Service was exceptional this time around. Consistently my favorite brunch spot.
Booth was too cramped for 4 people. Service was slow and disjointed. Too many people coming and going to our table and they never smiled. They were way too matter of fact. Tried to joke with them to get them to smile. No luck. Food was just average. It was our first time there so it was disappointing.
Beer was great, limited variety until the other location opens. Food was very good also. Fun night was had.
Waitstaff were friendly, but slow. Food was great except fries were saturated with salt... not inedible, but sure drank a lot with meal. Food came out fairly slow too, but staff apologized and took drinks off the bill to compensate which was nice. Overall atmosphere was fun and enjoyable, but probably go somewhere else next time in Lawrenceville
Fantastic food, great service, fabulous beers. A great place to eat and celebrate a birthday!
Fries were absurdly salty.
It's mainly a brew pub, so one doesn't expect much in the way of food, but is instead there for the beer. True though that may be, it's not unreasonable to expect edible food. Nothing of the kind available here. I ordered what seemed a safe choice, a burger and fries, because what else would one get at a brew pub? First sign of trouble: it is not possible to specify the extent of cooking, rare, medium, etc. The plate came. Second sign of trouble: the fries were completely inedible rubbish potato strips fried in what must be months-old oil, utterly repulsive. Third sign: the burger was similar inedible. A double thin patty, greasy as hell, stacked inside a crap bun. I tried separating out the burger and eating it with knife and fork. Forget about it, completely garbage. The waitress came to collect my leftovers (almost all of it) and didn't even ask whether it was acceptable, the answer being entirely self-evident. My companion had a lamd concoction that looked even worse than my burger, but I didn't try it. The beer, a saison in my case, was acceptable. Nothing else is even close.
