Cien Agaves Tacos & Tequila – Old Town
The food was good, but not great and the service was average at best. Part of it was that we were seated upstairs and it was a trek for the waitress but that doesn’t change the service. I’d recommend the place as it was tasty but I likely won’t go out of my way to go back.
I always enjoy coming here. Sometimes personal and th edrinks are great. For business like this event no drinks. Food is very good and tasty. Love the salsas as well.
The service was awesome. As was the vibe and feel of the place. The drinks were awesome and as advertised. The food however, was awful the tacos were not up to par. I do think this place is a better bar than it is restaurant.
Great Tacos and service
Food was too spicy even after we asked waiter if it was and requested mild. Super loud that we couldn’t hear each other talk. Slow service & we had to track down our waiter for more water refills.
We waited about 15 minutes to even have the waitress take our order. We both ordered two tacos. We waited about another 15 minutes before the waitress stopped by to ask us if we wanted any chips and salsa, we said yes. The chips and salsa were mediocre. The chips needed salt and the salsa tasted like something out of a jar. About 30 minutes later the waitress stopped by and asked us if we wanted more chips because the kitchen is backed up. We asked her how much longer it would be and she said “I don’t know, maybe another 20 minutes. I just went back to the kitchen and there was a ton of red tickets.” No apologies or anything. At this point we had already been at the restaurant for an hour. We told them to cancel our order and we walked out. This place is a joke and I wanna would never return.
I have mixed feedback. The place is nice. The downstairs is cooler than upstairs, but the ambiance overall is nice. The food was good. Nothing spectacular, but we all enjoyed what we had. We also had margaritas and cider - all good. The problem was the amount of time that it took for us to be served. We ended up being there for an hour before we received our meal. The manager came by and apologized, and they discounted our meal, but it did take a really long time. Another couple came in after us and got their meal before we did - so I think they just screwed up.
In the end, I would recommend Cien Agaves Tacos & Tequila.
great! Please disregard my previous message. It was for a different restraunt.
Sitting at a bar the next evening and a couple fromNew York asked if we knew of a good Mexican restaurant We said as a matter of fact we ate at a fabulous place yesterday Cien agaves , we highly recommend it
We had the same waiter as we did the last time we were at Cien Agaves about a year ago. He was very attentive & made sure we had everything we needed. The guacamole is always excellent & great margaritas.
Great food for the price ,you could live just off the appetizers..Cadillac Margarita is a must have if you go
We were seated in front of the door and freezing cold the entire time. Service was very slow. Probably will not return.
The atmosphere here was really cool, the food was good and the house margs were legit. They seated us right on time but must have missed our preference for regular seating because we ended up at a high top. All around a fun stop!
I reserved hit too seating, but was seated at a regular table.
Took a long time to get food. Waitress & Manager both apologized for delay but the restaurant did not seem to be overly busy
Just nothing impressive. I find it a tourist trap of a restaurant in old town Scottsdale. If you want more American style Mexican, quick and just some food to put in your belly great place to go. Probably great if you plan on drinking your night away as well, lots of drink options. My drink was good but very sugary coconut margarita. Would I chose to go back? Probably not. But would I tell people it’s a bad place? Probably not either. Just not a lasting impression. Hope this helps!
Great atmosphere and good food! Our server did a great job!
The $2 Tuesdays beef tacos were surprisingly delicious 😋! And the churros were out of this world 👍🏻! We were under the stairs, so missed a bit of the ambience.
We are visiting Scottsdale and Cien Agaves was suggested by a friend who visited a week ago. The Cien a ritas are delicious. The happy hour 1/2 price appetizers could have been our meal. Great food. Highly recommend this restaurant.
The restaurant was 45 minutes late for our reservation, and when dinner arrived, the food was luke warm at best. We have been there many times, i think this was a one off.
Great food for a great value!
Fun place with great food! We started with the guacamole. It was delicious. For the main dish we had a fajita bowl and a chicken chimichanga. Both were very well prepared, presented nicely and, most important, were very tasty. It was our first visit but we will definitely be back and we’ll bring friends next time!
Bar was constantly behind. Had to cancel final drink order as we were done with food before it was ready. Food was medlar best. Would find another place for Mexican food while in Old Town Scottsdale.
Food was great!
Made a reservation for 10 ppl on NYE last minute. They accommodated for additional seating last minute, and even had our table set up with water and chips by the time we arrived which was super convenient. Great service!
Best Happy Hour!!!
The shrimp tacos were delicious. The carnitas were very dry
Terrible food! The black beans were so salty that could not be eaten. The fish was bad and the tequila for the margarita was cheap! Never going there or recommending this place
The poblano crema soup was outstanding... Cool vibe... Mas tequila...
Great atmosphere. Good food.
Great food...poor table
Delicious food, great margaritas, and good service, but this was the loudest restaurant I have ever been in! Definitely made it hard for our party of 6 to talk and enjoy each other’s company.
Excellent tacos and desert sundae was wonderful.
This was my first time and I will definitely be back and would recommend. My friend and I sat down and our drink order was taken right away. It was happy hour so the server advised us on the house margarita as well as other specials. The house margarita was fantastic! We were chatting so we were a little slow to order food. In that time, the manager came over and informed us that the kitchen had made an extra carnitas cheese crisp and asked if we would like it. Absolutely! It was SOOOO good! I loved that the edges were a little extra done, exactly how I like it. The carnitas flavor was amazing and she told us that it was a previous chefs grandmothers recipe! We ordered the chips and guacamole which reminds me a little bit of Barrio Queens guac with pomegranate seeds on top. Such a delightful addition. You could tell when happy hour kicked into full force because the noise level did too. It wasn’t too bad though and it died back down. Food, drinks, service, atmosphere, and price were all amazing.
An overall fun dining experience as always.
We found this by chance and what a great spot for our group!! Loved it!
We love authentic Mexican food in an authentic atmosphere. This is by far the best spot in the valley.
Birthday but they took the reservation and called me 30 minutes before to say they only had a table outside. It ended well with a high top for 10 inside but they should make sure when a reservation is taken they set up the tables.
We met some out of town guests here and had a great time. I would come back again.
