Cicala at the Divine Lorraine
A special destination with fabulous food, service and ambiance. Menu changes monthly so always new choices.
My husband and I had a very nice dinner here this past weekend. Our server was professional and courteous. He was quite knowledgeable about the food, the preparation, and cocktails. This restaurant is beautifully decorated and comfortable. We had Buratta and Salumi pesto for our 1st course, a pasta dish for each as our second course and we split the Swordfish entree. We then split the Babba Rum for dessert. Every course was expertly prepared and tasted delicious. It was definitely a special treat for us. I look forward to another special occasion for us to have dinner at Cicala again!
Loved everything at this place!!
Beautiful restaurant...drinks at bar were outstanding, then dinner was creative and delicious ...Second courses and desserts all large enough to share. Valet parking for $15 on Friday and Saturday is really convenient . Anxious to return.
The food is solid; authentic Italian. Good cocktails. Loved the room and ambiance, with tablecloths and comfy fabric chairs and well spaced tables (for social distancing during the coronavirus), you can have a real conversation. This is great addition to N Broad.
Delicious. Beautiful atmosphere!! Definitely will come back.
The dining room in a charming old hotel is beautiful. Our meal was simply delicious. We shared the antipasti and the cheese board, two pasta dishes ( orechiette and gnocchi) and then had the Lamb Chops and Filet as our entrees. We had everything family style. Our waiter was very professional and accommodating. I'm looking forward to visiting again with my wife.
Went for my birthday and it was perfect. A beautiful space, gracious and attentive service, and every dish was a delight. Perhaps a bit pricey for everyday dining so looking forward to another special occasion to go back.
Going through the front door was like going through a time portal to a time of luxurious, grand living. The wait staff and service we're impeccable. The food, while being southern Italian, was not typical but rather a gourmet version of familiar dishes. This is a very special place.
Very attentive service.
Food made me feel like I was dining in Italy.
One of those old fashion American fine dining restaurants. Meets the expectations that people have for this type of restaurants. The food is good and the waiter is very knowledgeable about pairing wine. The fact it's in a Philly historical building is an plus, which used to be the nation's first desegregated apartment complex and cafeteria.
Best dining experience in Philly. Food, incredible; service, impeccable; ambiance, delightful. They did a great job of noise abatement, too. It’s not tinny and chaotic, but easy to have a conversation.
Don't miss the eggplant polpetti. Wine selection by the glass is terrific. Wait staff is really friendly in a down to earth but professional way.
Divine cooking&service. Gorgeous decor. Great special occasion spot.
Amazing food and service! A most when in Philly or if you live here!
Our food was amazing and the restaurant is beautiful. Plan to go again!
Excellent dining experience! The service by John was knowledgeable and friendly and the food was great (especially the rib eye - outstanding).
Cicala is a wonderful evening out: excellent food, romantic, fun setting, very attentive waitstaff. We will certainly be back.
Absolutely fabulous place! The room is exceptionally spacious and beautiful. Delicious cocktails and an excellent list of wines by the glass. Joe Cicala's affettato misto was, as expected from previous acquaintance with his work, was spectacularly good, the pastas - especially the tortelli - were equally outstanding, and my imaginative main dish of filetto al Scabin (filet being a cut I don't usually go for) was perfectly prepared, rare inside and with just the right sear. Our server, too, Domenick D, perfectly combined professionalism with friendliness.
Warm congratulations to everyone involved.
Cicala at the Divine Lorraine is a unique and wonderful dining experience in every way! The restaurant is elegant and reminiscent of bygone days. Beautiful velvet banquettes, crystal chandeliers and antique furniture provide a warm and relaxing environment. The food is incredible! It is the food that I ate in Sicily. The pasta dishes, breads and desserts never disappoint. Every dish that I ate was excellent! Take my advice and treat yourself to a truly wonderful meal while seated in gorgeous surroundings!
Beautiful space, romantic ambiance, top notch service. We got three apps - eggplant, octopus and tuna plus two pastas that we’re outstanding. Octopus was the only disappointment - scanty serving and overcooked for such thin tentacles. I had the mushroom pockets and he had the orrichiete.
Desserts were good, but I was really hoping for a nice cake (not soaked in rum) for dessert. Great dinner, highly recommended!
Fabulous restaurant. Food was delicious, great wine list, wonderful atmosphere, and very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Beautiful space.. impeccable service... Wonderful food ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I had such high hopes for this dinner. I remember clearly when there were trees growing out of this iconic building, so I was excited to see the renovation. And I’ve had good dinners at La Virtu, so I thought the food would be good, too. Instead, the decor was not cohesive or refined, and the vibe was decidedly suburban rather than a tasteful statement that leveraged the urban landmark in which the restaurant is situated (compare what Irwin’s did so effectively in the Bok building). The service at the bar was decent, which is good, as we had to wait there well past our reservation time. Once seated, what seemed like a half dozen people made a big show of switching out plates and cutlery, yet we waited forever for bread, didn’t have utensils when it was time to eat a course, and I had to remind them of my wine order (which they kindly comped). The team of too many servers simply was not coordinated. The octopus which our main server highly recommended was incredibly bland and served at a temperature that was neither here nor there - as was our swordfish, making you wonder if this was intentional or if the food was sitting in the kitchen for too long given the inefficiency of the service. The best thing we ate was the eggplant that accompanied the fish, and the bread. Sad to say that we parted with too much money for meh food and decor. We won’t be going back.
Love the vibe in this place! Food is rich but delicious. Can’t wait to go back!
Wonderful. Food was awesome and the service was amazing would definitely go back!!!
Good ; some entrees have very small portions. Would recommend larger pasta plates.
A lovely, grown-up dinner in this somewhat throw-back locale. Tablecloths, caring service, tables set far apart, noise-proofing in the furniture and ceiling, padded chairs. .. very comfortable and relaxing! The food was good, but the experience was even better. Thanks to Michael for making our visit especially pleasant.
Ask for Alex to be your server, he was outstanding!
Amazing ambiance. Actually enjoyed hearing the rumble of the subway below. Pastas were outstanding. Service was good.
Date night with spouse. Was very excited for dinner after review in Inquirer. First - restaurant is beautiful - so well done. Very comfortable seating and gorgeous decor. Really nice touches with ceiling and drapes hung to soften beams, etc. Noise level was refreshingly good - but for one very loud guest who was screaming at his table mates, including the occasional swear word. Not restaurants fault. Clearly saw himself as a gifted storyteller.
As frequently happens, food started out strong (apps/primi) but were less interesting/tasty as entrees arrived. And unfortunately - service was terrible. Cocktails and wine arrived late - hubbie’s filet was delivered raw - had to send back twice. Then it was butterflied. And not much flavor. I’ve made a tastier filet purchased from Whole Foods! The restaurant was extremely apologetic and accommodating for poor service - comping the steak and a few drinks (as they should). I’ll definitely go back and hope our experience was an isolated occurrence!
The service was lacking and the food was uninspired.
The food was good, but it’s not on my list of ‘must go back’ restaurants. I’ve eaten @ better in Philadelphia. I WILL say that the Pear & pomegranate Bellini was THE best drink I’ve had in a long time.
I was impressed by the ambiance, service and the food was delicious! Beautiful room in a Philadelphia landmark! So happy to see The Father Divine building come back to life!
Perfect dining experience. The atmosphere was beautiful and warm yet elegant. Noise level was perfect and the ambiance was very romantic. We are excited to dine at Cicala again. The pasta was fresh and Amazing, as was the pistachio gelato, out of this world!!!
This place is newer so I understand a restaurant needing time to get their footing. The space is gorgeous and our waiter, Alex, was amazing. The appetizers, tuna carpaccio and burrata were basically the highlight of the meal and it was a steady decline from there. Of the three pastas we ordered, scorpionfish, lamb ragu and orecchiette, the scorpionfish was by the far the best. I found the lamb ragu to be good, just under seasoned. The orecchiette was ok but too al dente (and I like my pasta al dente) and tasted like mostly vegetables. It wasn’t interesting to eat and I felt like I could have made it at home. The lamb chops were overcooked and the the cous cous was just okay. Not sure we’d go back for a while with so many other Italian places in Philly to chose from.
No problem in dealing with food allergy. Valet parking definitely a plus. Great service and great food.
The restaurant, menu, service and wine list were excellent. we truly enjoyed our first visit to Joe Cicala's new gem. Can't wait to return and explore the rest of the menu. Loved the wine list and sommelier who was extremely helpful. Great service. Loved it. Parking on nights when no valet is not great.
Absolutely outstanding in every aspect.
Unique Italian cuisine unlike any other in the city.
The nicest, congenial happy staff!!
