Cicala at the Divine Lorraine
A few dishes came cold and somewhat under seasoned. Drinks & food took too long. Beautiful place. Gelato was the highlight.
Pastas and charcuterie very good.
Eggplant polpetta- boring
Octopus- over charred, flavorless but very tender
Artichoke app- no flavor
Lamb entree- tender and delicious, beans very undercooked
Cous cous entree- slightly sweet otherwise flavorless, underwhelming seafood
Wow. Second visit and the high expectations from the first visit were exceeded. There is a tremendous attention to detail on everything. All 4 people in our party had something different, and everyone really enjoyed everything.
What a stunning restaurant! The ambiance is lovely, menu and food was superb, and the service (always the key to whether a restaurant is worth the spend) was impeccable! Surprisingly, it seems the dress code is "anything goes." Some patrons were dressed to the nines, others were in jeans and athletic shoes, and the majority were smart casual. But everyone received the same warm attention. This is not an inexpensive restaurant, but it will do well in it's Devine Lorraine location. (Restrooms are through the Devine Lorraine lobby, so you'll get to see how the owners have brought this gem back to life.) I can't wait to return!
Excellent creative food. Expensive. While the server was excellent, the kitchen was slow. Too much time between courses.
The pasta dishes were undercooked and not warm enough. On the lamb chops the chickpeas too were undercooked as were the other beans. The appetizers were good
The service was very good an attentive. Drinks were good. The noise level was exceptionally good and the desserts were very good indeed.
Given the uneven food experience we thought the value was not very good.
The restaurant is a clear asset for this area of town but the kinks must be ironed out, especially as the chef apparently had a fine reputation with pasta
The good, the service and especially the romantic setting has the restaurant living up to its location; putting it simply, Cicala is Divine!
One of the finest meals I have ever had! Beautiful setting, excellent service and creative, outstanding dishes, from beginning to end.
I was with a friend from California who has been all over the world, and he was most impressed.
Can’t wait to return!
Poor parking in dangerous crossroads area. Unlikely to thrive unless valet parking available.
Liked the atmosphere. Anti pasta Affettato Misto presentation and taste were very good. All four pasta dishes were good but not great. Baba au Rhum was very good!
The wine list was amazing and the sommelier was very knowledgable and helpful. The food was also amazing, with every dish fresh and tasty. The restaurant itself is so beautiful with dim lighting, comfortable chairs, a beautiful bar. My favorite element had to be the shrine to Maradona, however. It was such a nice surprise on the way to the bathroom!
A truly magnificent experience. Am definitely going again.
This was spectacular! The ambiance was superb. The bartender, John the server, as well as the sommelier were knowledgeable and so professional!
The food...fabulous! Each dish from start to finish was perfect. The lamb, the couscous, the lentil chestnut soup, the desserts - OMG
We can’t wait to return.
A wonderful date night or special occasion place. The room is enchanting and the chairs so comfortable ! (something that is important to my husband). We enjoyed the low noise level since two in our party have a very hard time hearing in noisy restaurants. Conversation was easy.
We were particularly wowed by the Maccheroni all mugnaia and the Tortilla. We did not sample any ofthe " secondi" items but did enjoy the Piccola Pasticceria tray ( there were four of us ) It was excellent. We will try the homemade gelato next visit as it looked amazing.
We went here for Valentines dinner. We were a party of four. No-one had ever been to the restaurant before and we all all greed it was one of our absolute favorite experiences. You have to try the gnocchi and the fillet. Your best bet is to go with a larger group and everybody order something different so everybody can try everything. This isn’t your typical Italian Olive Garden like restaurant. You are not going to find chicken Parm and spaghetti and meatballs. You were going to find some of the finest Italian dishes outside of Italy. The deserts are fantastic. Kudos to the Cicala family. We had a fantastic time. Oh and you wait staff is also an amazing group of men and women. Super attentive. Thanks again for a wonderful night.
Food was good, bit overpriced for the quality. Menu was very hit or miss. The Affettatto Misto was sub par, and the swordfish bland. The pasta was fresh. Pistachio gelato phenomenal.
Cool ambiance and decor , extensive wine list and imported beers from Italy. Small portions expensive but food was tasty
Our dining experience at Cicala was overall good. The service was outstanding with the Host, bartender and service staff. We were early for our reservation and spent time at the beautifully set-up bar. The menu is extremely limited with only 4 options for an entrée. The food was good but we were disappointed the option to add a side vegetable was not available. We had the octopus and eggplant meatball for appetizers and they were delicious and dinner was lamb chops and swordfish which was equally delicious; lamb chops served with only black beans and nothing with the swordfish. I would recommend at minimum adding the option to have a vegetable with an entrée. I would recommend Cicala with the knowledge of limited offerings. Thank you!
Top Shelf. Joe & Angela deserve to be commended on bringing together a beautiful building, a great staff and an excellent menu and preparation.
The room is beautiful, the food is delicious, the service is attentive.
I highly recommend Cicala for a special occasion!
Love the ambiance and especially that we could hold a conversation without shouting. We’ll be back for that alone. My husband had the chicken pasta which lacked the promised truffles and the almond cake Spumoni dessert was not a hit. The baba was fantastic as was the eggplant polpette and the shellfish entree. Actually, everything else the 4 of us ate was delicious. And the room is gorgeous.
Our visit to Cicala was outstanding! The restaurant is gorgeous and elegant! The valet parking is such a help.
The food was a true Italian experience. The Burrata was the best we've ever had and our eggplant appetizer was delicious. We enjoyed the shark and the lamb ragu and it was exceptional as well. The wine list is extensive and the Montepulciano that we chose paired perfectly with our food.
The only down side was the non gender restroom in the hotel lobby. The lobby is beautiful by the way. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, but a fellow came in from the street with his hoodie up seeming a bit intoxicated. It was disturbing. Since they're such a new restaurant, and that area of North Broad is experiencing a revival, perhaps this will improve. Hopefully because that episode in itself is enough to raise a question about returning.
Beautiful restaurant and delicious, fresh food
This restaurant is beautiful! The staff was friendly and informative and the food was excellent!
It was amazing. It's an elegant place for grown-ups to dine. The restaurant satisfied everything. We could hear ourselves think, the ambiance was lovely, and the food was exceptional. Every dish we had was a surprise and a delight. The service was efficient but not obtrusive. It's expensive but well worth it. We will be back again and again.
At first the experience seemed pretty good, with the exception that we had to be buzzed into the building for security reasons. Once inside, the place seemed very nice, warm and inviting. It was a short wait for our reservation and when sat, the table seemed fine but this comfort level soon eroded. Within the first minute sitting, a waitress told me that I would need to move my chair some to the right to avoid getting in the way of the server next to the table, I complied with her request. My chair was then hit a minimum of six times with the drawer for silverware and upon being hit once in the head by an elbow of a server, I got up and left. The maitre'd offered to move us, NO, nobody should have been sat at the table in the first place, in fact a table shouldn't have been there at all. NEVER AGAIN!
Fantastic meal with wonderful service. Our server, Alex was off the charts amazing with great knowledge of the menu, attention to details and a friendly approach.
The ambiance is perfect for anniversaries, birthdays and special dinners. Also a good spot for impressing on business.
The food is very good though could be slightly less complicated in ingredients, but overall an impressive effort.
The restaurant is elegant and the tables are set graciously apart. It’s still noisy but not impossibly so. The wait staff needs training! The person clearing tables whipped plates and silver away, even though I was still eating a piece of bread, which was on my plate. Our waiter didn’t pace our dinners properly for which he apologized. Even so, the food was expertly prepared and everything we ordered was delicious, especially the mixed seafood over couscous.
We’ll gladly return and hope that the owners work with their employees to make service match the quality of the food.
Service was awful - slow, unwelcoming, etc.
Food was average but pricey - and at times confusing. Why would you deep fry a filet mignon?
Awesome food, wine, and excellent service!
Food was fantastic. Service was not good. The lead waiter clearly forgot my wife and I for 40 minutes after we had finished our secondi. This was among other issues. The sommelier was a notable exception. He was first rate. We’re going to wait awhile to go back and hope they sort out the service problems.
Great room, they did a really nice job renovating it. The food was good overall and it was a nice experience
Food was great. Dinner was a little pricey for the portion sizes so be ready to spoil yourselves with the tuna carpaccio and black truffle cheesecake.
Our first time here, we’ll definitely be back! Food was spectacular and we didn’t even have time for dessert before our show. So many other things that we need to try
Cicala provides Philly with another upscale Italian restaurant--located in the heart of North Philly. Very convenient to Temple's main campus and The Met. Parked easily on Broad Street about a block from the front door. Attentive and informed servers. Our server was a "trainee" and he was great. Food options were creative and well-presented. We'll certainly return.
Absolutely amazing from start to finish. The chefs here have truly created an experience. So happy to make it up to Philly to enjoy this!
Phenomenal food, at very respectable prices. Ambiance and attention to detail are above reproach. I’m not going to bother with what we ordered, because it’s all hand made, and of the utmost quality of ingredients. Buy one dish, or 5 it doesn’t matter. Small plate meals, with traditional “family style dining” for your whole party. Excellent bar service as far as drinks, however some drink orders were, “lost” in the dinner rush, but they were replaced with same orders, on the house. Twice to be exact. So who’s complaining over free Ol’ Fashions? Over all when of the best restaurants I’ve had the pleasure of eating at! The chairs are excellent! Like I said, attention to detail. We’re already booked again.
Delicious dinner in a beautiful setting!
Outstanding meal. May be the new best Italian restaurant in Philadelphia. Every dish was extremely well executed and the ambiance and service elevated the experience.
