The food was very plain, like a cheaper version of Olive Garden food, it was WAY overpriced and the service was slow even though they weren’t busy. Totally sucked and would never go again and definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone!!!
to expensive for the food waiters had no clue it took almost 2 hours to get food lots of people left
Had a terrible experience yesterday at CiBO. My family has eaten here many times (winter and summer) and were excited to go eat there on a Saturday night. It started bad from the time we came in. We had a reservation and somebody took our name then we waited over 10 minutes for somebody else to come and ask if we've been helped. Our answer: we think but we haven't seen anyone. After that we were seated right away to a mostly full restaurant. We ordered 10 minutes later. Then we wait. We wait another 15 minutes just for water. After being seated for 25 minutes another person comes and asks if she can confirm our food and drinks as she can't find it in the computer. Then we wait another 10 minutes for 1-coke and 1-glass of wine. Now we've been waiting 45 minutes for food. We have 2 children with us. My husband asks for bread as were all getting hungry. Sure they tell us. Well we wait another 1 5 minutes for that. We finally get food after a 1:15 wait. Unfortunately when we get our pastas and meatballs everything is WAY undercooked. The kids can only eat the meatballs (which were fantastic). When the waitress comes and asks how the food is I let her know that we can't eat the food since it tastes like raw dough. We then just ask for the bill as we just wanted to get out.
The waitress ended up giving us -50% off the bill. We let her know we never had an experience like this at the restaurant and that we were disappointed. She let us know they were having problems with the staff and that people were out sick. Not sure if that meant the cook also?!
Anyhow not sure we'll be back for a while. I think we'll just wait till they can figure out every aspect of the restaurant.
On a side not everyone in the restaurant that evening had the same experience then us. Long waits for food and wine. The family sitting next to us had to wait as long for their food. Only to have their food so spicy they couldn't eat it.
Have been here before and enjoyed our dining experience! Not this time. We were a party of nine and none of us received our food at the same time. The artisan bread platter wasn’t as good as before, my son received the wrong pasta and we never received more wine. The kids didn’t get their pizza until we were almost finished. We felt sorry for the servers because they were trying their best but not enough help and the kitchen wasn’t up to the task.
All the specials sounded so good, it was hard to decide. The food was excellent and the service was great. Cori was our waitress and she was so, so good.
Amazing dinner and the service was top notch. We will be back!
Extremely disappointing food.
Four of us had arrived for dinner on a Friday night at 6:30 pm. We were seated immediately by a friendly waitress. Between us we ate the fettuccine with claims, gnocchi, margarita pizza and chicken in mushroom sauce. We also all had salads. The dishes were plentiful and tasty. On a negative note the table felt sticky and the dishes for our appetizer of warm olives appeared filmy. That being said, they just got their power back on after PG&E’s massive power outage which may have affected their hot water washing. We would definitely go back though!
My husband and I are from the Bay Area but have a place in Twain Harte and decided to head up for our anniversary. Neither of us had been to CiBO yet and wanted to try it out so we made a reservation. Upon arrival, the staff was super friendly and asked us where we wanted to sit - inside or outside - and when we chose inside, they gave us a few choices and ultimately we ended up getting a seat by the window. The decor is super cozy but also industrial/modern, a nice change to the usual restaurants up there. The first server got to our table instantly with water and offered suggestions for his favorite items on the menu - the Finocchiona pizza (which we ordered) and the Wood Fire Baked Ziti.
The second server who ended up being with us the rest of the evening introduced herself and then told us the specials and her suggested dishes. We ended up ordering the soup special (this time was a potato soup), Chicken Marsala, the Finocchiona pizza and a side salad. We had brought a bottle of wine and the server opened it for us to have as we waited for our food. Our soup and salad came out shortly afterward and then a bit later our main courses. The pizza was SUCH a good choice - fabulous flavor my husband almost did not want to share! The Chicken Marsala was a generous portion of chicken (half a breast and a leg) and was cooked wonderfully - still moist and with great flavor and the sauce was not overpowering or consuming the dish). We decided on affogato for dessert and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Ultimately, I could describe the food as best as possible and perhaps not sway anyone one way or another to try out the restaurant; the food IS wonderful, and it shows in the preparation - this is a family oriented Italian style restaurant, so the purpose is to ENJOY the whole process of the meal, including conversation in between courses (with the staff, too!) and not be rushed. This is definitely a place to return to time and time again. Cannot wait to make my next trek up!
Been here multiple times and always enjoyed the visit. I will note that it wasn't best idea to come on a Wednesday night. They are closed on Monday and Tuesday and for some reason, some things were not available Wednesday night. For instance, none of the soup stocks were ready, so no soup. A few of the entrée items were not available (no marsala sauce for one). Other than that, service was as usual high, food was excellent.
Wonderful staff and owners! Great food and they made us feel like part of the family!
We enjoyed a peaceful, enjoyable anniversary dinner, dining outside which was wonderful. The 'not on the menu' Creme Brûlée for dessert, which is our absolute favorite, was a great surprise option. The crust on it was perfect-o!
Awful service. We have given this place multiple tries and each time the service is the same... The food is good, but not worth how bad the service is.
Not sure what the deal was, Labor Day weekend? No staff? But, our family waiting for quite a while after being seated to order. Kitchen took a very long time for apps, mains, etc. The waitress said that 2 of the entrees were sent to a different table (not sure how that can happen). When mine finally came, it was missing the side dish and chicken was incredibly dry. They comped the dish and a dessert, however, a family of 5 as we are, it's the time spent and lost that we won't really get back. We were looking forward to this dinner for months to end our trip on a high note, however, fell really, really flat.
My family had a marvelous time at Cibo’s. Food was delicious and staff was outstanding.
The service was terrible - saw staff argue on multiple occasion. Tried to sit us outside at a table with 4 chairs for a party of 5.
Waitress took drink order, opened our wine, really didn’t see her again till check, owner brought water, took our dinner order, another waitress brought our Bruschetta, another brought out our dinner. And Hostess did check out which took awhile... Food was very good!
The gnocchi was amazing! They make their own pasta and the spaghetti and meatballs was delicious as well. They were out of a few things the night we were there, and forgot our wine order, but went above and beyond to compensate for those. We will definately be back.
Cibo is our favorite place in Twain Harte. It's great for a date night. The food is always good, and they have a nice selection of wine and beer. Save room for dessert... they're wonderful!
Unfortunately, when we have dined at other like establishments; bread and butter are complimentary. We found it very odd that bread would be charged at $5.00. We will equate this as if you went to a Mexican restaurant and having to pay for chips and salsa. I meal ordered was fire roasted clams with fettuccine which mentioned capers and shallots which were not added to the meal, clams may have been cooked with capers and shallots. If added to the meal may have helped with flavor instead of causing the meal to be very bland and tasteless. This was our first dining experience at CiBo. Having a home in the area, we hope to dine and give it a second chance with different meal options.
Nice people, good food, but they need more servers and more bang for your buck for their pricing.
I was not happy that they had no bread. And the focaccia they served seemed day old. The waitress told me they were out of the homemade bread and only had focaccia left which was very stale. I also ordered chicken for for fettuccine. It was 10 dollars extra for a 2 dollars worth amount of chicken. It said it was hand pulled which sounded fancy but looked like torn apart Costco chicken. They also didnt have any beer on tap???????????????? So for 70 bucks i left hungry and unsatisfied. My daughter said her noodles were not cooked well either. Will definitely not be back
Was so disappointed with Cibo. We ordered a risotto, and it was horrible. It came with mushrooms which wasn't listed on the menu, and just tasted like chicken stock. The best part of the meal was the Salad. Maybe we just ordered the wrong dish, but service would use a lot of help. Sweet staff, but not sure what there doing. Maybe its just a gem in the rough!
We've eaten at CiBO six times over the past three years as we have a vacation home in the area. We were there for their opening and for their 1st year anniversary. All of these meals and the service up to that point were four to five stars. The last two visits we have been extremely disappointed. We always make reservations, but when we arrived last Saturday (July 20th), there was no one at the check-in desk. We waited for 11 minutes till someone acknowledge us and then another 5 minutes to get the staff to confirm our reservation and look for a table outside. After being seated, and handed menus, we didn't see our server for nearly 20 minutes to place our initial drink order. The drinks took nearly 30 minutes to arrive and one of our wine glasses was incorrect - The servers excuse for the delay was that the bartender had disappeared. When the server brought back the corrected wine glass order...in 10 minutes, we stopped her departure and asked about the specials so we could place our orders. Nearly 40 minutes later we had our meals, but delivered by another server. The quality has definitely gone downhill - my pasta was dried out as if it had been cooked and left in the strainer for some time before being added to the sauce and then plated. We didn't see our server for another 30 minutes, when she dropped the check on our table and started to run off. We were never asked how our meal was or if we needed anything shortly after it was delivered, and to have the check tossed on the table and promptly disappear, spelled the end of our future visits to this once stellar place.
I am from the area, but now live in San Diego. Every time I come up for a visit, my husband and I coordinate a visit to CIBO with friends and family — it’s our most favorite restaurant in the area! The interior design, the food, the service... all are top notch! While the outdoor space isn’t quite as magical as the interior, it’s lovely to sit on the patio in the summer months!
I have never had such slow service! I had to ask for water, remind about my drink, notify them that my food was not properly done, and ask for more beverages. For the price of the wine, which was lovely, it’s ridiculous that I should have to waive somebody down for our second glass. We came prepared to spend money and to have a lovely evening. What we got was rude, inconsiderate, inconsistent and flat out lackadaisical. The food was fair. But to be truthful who wants to spend $20 for a cup and a half of pasta with some shredded cheese! It was supposed to come with sausage which was not there so we had to wait for them to prepare it again. Their steak was tasty and cooked appropriately but it did not come with the side advertised and rather than notify us of this they served us yet more unsatisfactory pasta. Our first waitress stopped speaking to us all together with no notable provocation. We had to Wave down the other waitress working the floor and while considerate, there was no reasonable explanation for the ridiculous lack of service.
I am an active member of this community. And unfortunately I would never recommend this establishment to anybody I know. It actually pains me to say this as I was so looking forward to our experience and have never left such a poor review in my entire life. But it is noteworthy I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone!
We went there for our daughters birthday which we included in our reservation details. The food was great but the service was painstakingly slow and very disorganized. We were not given glasses for our wine and no attention was paid to our daughters birthday. As mentioned, the food was great.
Beautiful setting outside under the line trees. Food was delicious and good service too !
We have been here 5 times before, last summer and the one before. Really disappointing this time, food not as described (e.g. sausage pasta with no sausage). I hope they regroup and it returns to its former quality.
What a great choice for Sunday brunch, lunch, or dinner in Twain Harte! Twain Harte is our second home and we so appreciate “ Cibo”. We have eaten there more often in the past several years than any other restaurant, anywhere. There are not too many options in lovely Twain Harte, to us Cibo is the obvious choice. The location has been three different restaurants in our time in TH . When it became Cibo Famiglia, it took on a total new look and type of menu offerings. It is very attractive and the outside patio in the summer is our “go to”. It is farm to table dining which allows frequent menu changes. That is fun for us because you never know exactly what will be offered. The pizza choices are always great and novel. You can’t go wrong with any of them! We don’t have a favorite entree choice, they vary. Their preparation of “ Roasted Mary’s Chicken” is one we can count on. The breads are house baked and are excellent! Don’t miss ordering the bread. The wine list changes often and is fairly priced.
Twain Harte is fortunate to have this restaurant and our family will continue to schedule a dinner pretty much every time we are there.
Sunday brunch is not offered year round, but when it is..you should give it a try.
We were a little disappointed, they were out of two of our favorite starters, oh well...
Have eaten here before and it was wonderful. Not our experience this time, waited 1 1/2 hours for salad?
No cocktails, only licensed for beer & wine. Very nice bottle of wine but our server had a broken wine opener so my husband managed to open it for her. It was the only wine opener in the entire restaurant. The trio of breads were all the same kind. Affogato for dessert was served with a skimpy 1/4 cup of ice cream. It was chocolate ice cream because they didn’t have the traditional vanilla. No whipped cream on top. A table near us was seated before we received our entree and hadn’t been served even a glass of water or given menus when we left. I alerted a server on our way out. Our server wore a very inappropriate blouse to work.
This was our first time at CiBO. The food was good however we had to wait for OVER ONE HOUR for Eggs Benedict. Our waitress was very pleasant and worked hard because they were short handed. We chose to sit inside rather than in the sun outside, (all shaded tables were taken) but the music was SO loud we had to ask twice to turn the volume down. We would recommend CiBO but with a disclaimer! And in all fairness, maybe we should give it one more chance before writing it off our list.
Food was average, but the service was horrible, our original waitress went home and 2nd waitress basically ignored us. We would have ordered another bottle of wine and desert but after 1/2 hour + of finishing our meal we got a third waitress to bring check. We won’t be back.
Great food fun place
It was our first time and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, the over all friendliness and are looking forward to coming back.
There was a disconnect between server and wait staff. We spent unreasonable amount of time just waiting for our food, plate removal and bill. Our wait was so long we chose not to order coffee and desserts.
Poor service ruins meal again. First table seat 30 min we are the only table with out our bread and salad we ordered when we sat down. The problems in the kitchen never end and $10 to add 2 once’s of chicken to pasta is offensive. You pay for 3 types of bread but this time it was only 2 types and 1 was not fresh baked.
Food was awesome, Our waiter Steven,
did an awesome job as well. This will be our new place to eat.
