Cibo E Beve Ratings and Reviews
I was disappointed with our entire experience. It was so loud in there, that I left with a headache. At 8pm on Friday night, the restaurant ran out of pizza dough. Our server was friendly but they were under-staffed. Being in the hotel and restaurant industry, I got the impression that the management is not ideal. It doesn't seem like anyone is in charge.
Although I’ve been here before and enjoyed my meal, this last experience was pretty bad. It was New Year’s Eve, but one would expect them to be prepared for that. I would not say the restaurant was overly crowded. Our waiter was truly overwhelmed. I understand that things can get crazy sometimes, but a good server will still communicate and apologize. It probably took about 30 minutes to get our drinks and Over an hour for entrées. They had a limited menu for the evening and had already run out of the veal by 8:30. My potatoes were very undercooked and everything else was just average. The icing on the cake was when we received our bill and two items were on there that we hadn’t ordered. Not sure if I’ll be heading back.
We arrived slightly before they opened as their hours had changed for NYE. The bar tender (maybe floor manager?) promptly let us in and made a delicious dirty martini for me. Once we were at our table the service was fast and efficient and our food was excellent. We will definitely be back.
We were a bit disappointed to learn that the restaurant no longer serves Carbonara. We tried this restaurant based on a great review of that dish. Friends were in from out of country and I feel the restaurant missed the mark of menu variety. Location is easy to get to and overall food was good.
Our reservation was a last minute change due to a scheduling conflict.. The food was good. The restaurant is a little small and were at a tiny table. Since it was small it was very loud. It was very busy so service was slow. Because of the food I would probably try it again.
I booked my company’s holiday team lunch here at noon and when we showed up we found that the place didn’t open for lunch, EVEN THOUGH the hours at the door clearly stated lunch hours and so did Open Table. Thankfully we were able to squeeze in at their siser restaurant next door, but this was a very disappointing experience. They need to make sure it’s clear they don’t open for lunch. I doubt I’ll bother trying this place again.
Sunday night was a disappointment for the first time Not sure if it was because it was after church on Sunday night. Service was quite friendly but slow. A couple of times I thought we might have been forgotten. My salmon was quite good but my wife's "signature" lobster was lacking lobster. Maine lobster tail was 2 less than penny sized pieces with no flavor plus a couple of shreds. I should have taken a picture. If they had run out of lobster, we should have been informed. Since they had little lobster they doubled down on the spices. Tears from too much spice. Then we got the mango sorbet, quite tasty except for fair sized solid ice in center. We'll give them another chance hoping this was an anomaly
This is usually one of our favorite spots, and brought some friends are new to town and who had never eaten here before. It was not especially busy for a Saturday night. Our waitress was atrocious. It took 2 requests and 25 minutes to get bread. It took multiple asks for iced tea refills and a glass of ice. Water glasses were not refilled. Salad was ordered with dressing on the side and it came with dressing on it (replacement salad took over 10 minutes). All of the food came out VERY slowly, which we could understand if it were busy, but it was not. At 10 pm, we were the only customers left, and the wait staff started blasting music, which we took as our invitation to leave. It was also VERY rude. Is 10:00 really too late to stay out for dinner on a Saturday night??? We were enjoying the conversation with our friends but felt pressured to leave. Also, the bartender who helped us at the bar before dinner seemed very inexperienced and untrained. I recall in the past you have had professional bartenders. Overall, disappointing, but the food was delicious.
I really wanted to like this place. Great atmosphere, nice people, great menu..Bar looked really nice too. Food was tasty, but a bit bland. A tad more seasoning would probably make it great. Service was extremely slow too. May have been a bad chef on that night. I will try again.
Used to love Cibo, but it has gone down hill. The last couple times we've eaten here have been underwhelming. The dishes are not as well executed as in the past. For example, I ordered the Gnocchi Bolognese. The texture of the gnocchi had no bite whatsoever. It was indiscernible texturally from little balls of pommes aligot. The drinks were still good. The overall value here, though, has made it nearly impossible to return.
My wife and I went for dinner on a Saturday night and found the restaurant to be somewhat understaffed. The service was slow but our server was extremely competent. I would rate the food a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10. My wife said her chicken lacked a defining taste, and my pasta was a bit more bland than it should have been. They do have a very nice bar, and during previous visits I have enjoyed sitting at the bar and eating there. As I looked around the restaurant I realized that most of the tables are rather small and the place when full appears more than a little crowded.
When this restaurant first opened, we would frequent it about once a week due to the unique and amazing preparations of everyday foods. Sadly I feel like the innovative preparations have taken a back seat to ride on their initial success. Decent, but has dropped a few notches since opening.
The entrees were overpriced and truly lacked defining quality to justify the cost. The service was adequate and attentive but appeared to be stressed. The wine list was extensive and suprsingly modestly priced by the glass. Would probably not dine here again.
We arrived and saw that the restaurant was crowded. Immediately, we were told that they were understaffed. Once we were seated, we had to wait for any type of service. We put in drink orders. When they arrived, we ordered both appetizers and entrees since we were already aware that staffing was a problem. It did not take too long for us to get our appetizers, but after finishing them, we did not see anyone for quite a while. Finally, our waiter came and asked us if he could clear our plates and were we ready for the check. We then explained to him that we hadn't had our meal yet. We continued waiting. The couple two tables down from us, who ordered after us, received their food. We were, at this point, not too concerned since they had ordered shortly after us. We continued to wait for a long time. Then, a table of four, three tables from us, who had arrived probably 20 minutes after we did, got their food. I flagged someone down explaining how long we had been waiting. Of course, they apologized profusely. Not long afterwards, we did finally get our entrees. My wife was not too happy with hers, but mine was quite good, though it could have been hotter.
Throughout the meal, they kept explaining how understaffed they were, so we were trying to be understanding. However, the under-staffing problem does not explain why we would get our food after a party that arrived well after us. No less than 5 different people came by our table throughout the evening, but the waiter made two or maybe three appearances the whole time. Everyone just seemed confused more than anything. In summary, we won't be going back to Cibo E Beve anytime soon. They need to work on better managing their workforce and making sure that all of their customers are getting service.
I have never had a bad experience at Cibo. We arrived on a Saturday night and the waitress was slammed with customers. The manager was walking around "checking" on the tables, but walked right by ours without filling our empty water and iced tea glasses. The server did a good job considering how busy she was. I was extremely disappointed in the swordfish - it was sliced horizontally so you only received half of a piece of swordfish. Because it was thinly sliced, it was slightly dry. I'll stick to the pasta next time.
We had a royal reception! It was our dear friends birthday and we were seated at the chef's table. Perfect location. Our server was knowledgeable and easy going and the food was better than any review written. and the drinks were perfectly mixed.
Pleas go and treat yourself to a plate of the lobster spaghetti!! It is delicious. We are looking forward to our next visit and plan to te more friends!
