Cibo Centre St
Happy hour was great!
We went to celebrate our daughters engagement on Monday night. I can say other than our waiter who was very good our experience was not good. The appetizers were ok nothing special but where the food really failed was main course. The guys ordered the braised short ribs. They were tough and obviously not slow cooked as you would expect. The chef came to check and my husband filled him in. The chef did seem reasonably concerned. Where Cibo on Center failed is there was NO consideration on our bill. The ribs were $27 each. We had appetizers and drinks so our bill was substantial. Will not go back and will not no never recommend this restaurant. Sorry for our waiter. We miss Scopa
The food was good, but the service was a little slow. I thought the bread could have been fresher. All in all, I'd go there again.
We wanted pasta for dinner so we decided to try Cibo Centre St. The waitress was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu.
The food came out in a reasonable time and was very good. I had the spaghetti which was sooooo good!
I'll definitely be back to try their pizza and other items.
the food was very good but not enough staff--waited far too long for drinks and food
Mother’s Day celebration with family. Food was good to very good. Service was mediocre to poor. While she was friendly in her own way, she was cavalier and disorganized.
Made a reservation , was told it was going to be slow . That was fine we said . Waitress brought us water , but was slow to come take our drink orders . We finally ordered our drinks and then food . Drinks were slow to come , food finally came and two of our pizza were wrong . Only brought two napkins for four of us. Finally after asking we got two more napkins . Asked for more water , never did get that . Finally got a second drink order , was very slow . Pizza was ok but incorrect and service was terrible
Went in for Mother’s Day brunch, not even a full restaurant and the service was awful. Waitress was chewing gum with her mouth open while taking our drink orders. Drinks sat on the bar for a good 10 minutes before then arrived at the table. Messed up our food order, messed up drink order we didn’t even get one dish until our party was done the rest of the meal which is absurd. Hashbrowns were greasy and soggy not to mention my plate had exactly 6 pieces of cubed potato. Other tables walked out without paying and we should have done the same. New management needs to properly train their staff and make major changes before I’ll consider coming back.
It was a terrible experience. Service was awful and food never did arrive before we finally decided to leave. Won’t be going back anytime soon!!!
Fabulous happy hour specials! Pizza’s are delicious.
Food was good. Service was slow. For a Friday evening, it was pretty quiet.
Nobody mentioned anything when we arrived and the restaurant is under new management/ownership I’m not sure. The service was terrible and unprofessional. We came here specifically for gluten free pizza - since under the new management they no longer have homemade gluten free crust. The frozen shell they used was horrible. The crust they used to make was the best in the city. My two children’s dishes were sub par, the toppings on the pizza were not the same as they used to be. I would recommend not going to this cibo and double checking the 17th one to make sure they are not under the same management
We had an awesome waitress, it was only her second shift. She provided the right amount of attentive, friendly, fun service for our group.
Thursday night meant a special, 3 starter's for a pretty great price. We were all pretty excited to try this place out I mean how can you screw up deep fried rice balls calamari and Brussel sprouts?! Honestly it felt like they had it sitting out the entire afternoon, not even like warm. Our server was not the friendliest either and it wasnt like he was so busy when we were the only table in the restaurant. Those 2 details alone made for a really poor experience.
Good spot. Food is good. Service is good
The food was meh at best and the service was rather poor. It was my birthday and there was zero attempt to make it special. I don’t appreciate being shamed for bringing small children in public or having staff being snarky about children who want to move around. No one was bothered and nothing was broken, but apparently touching blinds is a huge no no.
I thought this place would have been the same as scopa was, but it’s definitely changed and i will not be back.
We had a lovely evening at Cibo j. It is a good place to meet friends and have dinner. Great specials.
Fun family orientated place on a Saturday night so Jiffy arranged for the two of us to sit next to the fire place to reduce the noise level. Smart room planning. Food was excellent and portion sizes generous!!
Always enjoy CIBO's ... this time I was a bit disappointed by managements response to an incident where I was seated on a chair which had a sticky substance spilled on it ... it stuck to my pants and was a mess. I was offered a damp cloth and my family replaced the chair. Staff felt it was a spilled pop but no offer to clean my pants (work clothes) or offer an apology ... disappointing.
Food and service were excellent! Would have given 5 starts except for the fact that the hostess reported to OpenTable that our reservation had been cancelled rather than confirmed. I emailed Cibo to get the error corrected and within a couple of days I received notification from Open Table of Cibo’s confirmation so all’s well. I will definitely go back for the food and service but will confirm with the hostess for proper reporting back to OpenTable.
Venue was loud, service middle of the road and the chairs uncomfortable. Sorry, not in a rush to return.
The Wednesday night lasagna special was very good. Great value and quality Italian food. Decent wine list and great house cocktails. The patio is a good size and we'll separated from any traffic.
The best happy hour. 7 days a week 2-5 $5 pizzas. Went on a Sunday with two friends. Had three drinks each and 3 pizza for $50, what a steel! The pizzas are delish to boot! I recommend the pepperoni and margarita.
We ordered the arincini which were luke warm and not super tasty or crispy. The calamari was limp but tasted nice, and accoutrements on the plate were very good.
We shared a main, the tagliatelle noodles which were under cooked and not fresh in my mind. I expect fresh homemade noodles from an Italian restaurant and especially when I spend $18 on a dish. The meatballs were just ok but the sauce was tasty.
Overall, it was disappointing and not on par with the 17th Ave location, which is fantastic.
Great pasta night deals on Tuesdays. Gnocchi was delicious!
Service was good, food was bland and uninspiring, expected better from past experiences
I ordered the "slow roasted pork belly with shrimp" and got a lump of cold pork fat and TWO single pieces of shrimp on top of some slimy cold tasteless veggies. It was almost $30. My boyfriend ordered a $20 meatball pizza, expecting authentic Italian wood fired pizza with house made dough and a decent dinner size and was served something that looked like a 6" factory made frozen pizza you might find on a kids menu at Denny's, definitely no meatballs on it. It was shockingly bad. We also ordered "truffle fries" that were overcooked to the point of being grey, then served stone cold, and were charged $15 for those. We ended up paying almost $100 for the worst food we had ever had. Honestly we could have gone over to A&W or Peters and had better food, and I don't even like fast food. The menu, website and atmosphere make it all seem like an upper scale restaurant with real chefs and real Italian food, and it was nothing like that at all.
Amy G was our server. She was very attentive and came by from time to time to make sure that we didn't need anything. Always had a smile on her face.
Great happy hour, great food, great service
This was our first experience dining at this restaurant since it became Cibo. It doesn't even come close to the wonderful food that the former restaurant, Scopa, served. We have no plans for any future visits.
Family dinner prior to going to a Friday night concert. I had the beef shank, the kids had spaghetti with tomato sauce. The beef was a little bit on the tough side but overall quite nice (especially the accompaniments). The kid’s spaghetti and sauce was quite good (the little bit I tried). Dessert was excellent. The bill was a bit on the pricy side but not alarmingly high. Overall we were pleased with the meal. It is a big open room so be prepared for a bit of noise but it wasn’t annoyingly loud. Lots of families in the room, as well as couples and small groups. A nice neighborhood mix.
We came in just before 7pm for our dinner reservation. Host didn't have a table ready and had to clean one out to sit us. Our server had great personality and charm, but not great service. He took our orders then took another table's order. Then had to come back to our table to confirm our orders because apparently he couldn't read his writing. Only then was our food (and the other table's) was rung in. Appies didn't get to us til 7:45. My prosecco didn't arrive until my husband finished his beer. Main course arrived closer to 8:30. Underwhelmed by the food except for the Maiale (pork belly). Nothing else was worth noting. Just wanted to try this place as I see it all the time. There are other Italian restaurants with waaaay better food, service and ambience.
We chose Cibo for a Birthday celebration with friends and were not disappointed. The appetizers we had were delicious and our main course pasta meals were all wonderful.
The service was top notch as well.
Shhhh don’t tell anyone CIBO Centre Street is open for brunch on the weekends, it’s our little secret, it’s not too busy, good food wonderful staff in a place you’d be proud to take out of town company.
Food is amazing (especially the spaghetti), drinks were delish, service was great but those chairs........are mega uncomfortable!!!
Lasagna wasn’t as good as my visit before. Over cooked, cheese dried onto my plate had to peel it off.
Hi Nadina, I'm sorry to hear about your lasagna. I will certainly pass along the feedback to the kitchen team so that we can fix the problem for next time. Kind regards, Liz
Excellent service, food and atmosphere. Nice neighbourhood spot, most interesting and delicious menu selection. Great weeknight specials reasonably priced. Dined here many times always a great experience! 8D
Nice atmosphere with nice food.
The food was great but since it was Valentines day the service was very slow (2hr +)
Only difference between scopa and the new cibo is the sign. The cheap pasta night is not as advertised not half price and ordered the lasagna which arrived dry and old mentioned to the server who we had to flag down no concern. Stopped going there for these reasons and will not return again.
