I’d recommend the Veal Marsala and Chicken Parm as well as any one of the fresh homemade pastas they make in house daily. You’d think more restaurants would make their pasta in house but they don’t and this really shows what a nice fresh homemade from scratch meal is all about. Reminds me of my time traveling in Italy.
Had a drink at this beautiful little bar on the corner in the North End before being whisked upstairs to the dining room. First of all the martinis are perfectly made and they give you the extra in a cute little shaker. It was a little quiet but assuming that’s due to the weather and it was a Monday. Our hotel recommended we get the fresh pasta. Bolognese and vodka sauce were fantastic. Very nice service as well. Will return next time we’re in town.
Wow this place is A+. Never knew a chicken piccata could taste that good. My cousin had a bone in veal chop Parmesan never even heard of such a thing. Lights out. Nice wine nice candles tables and what not, gotta be the best restaurant in all of the North End and everyone knows the North End is known for quality Italian. Could possibly be the best Italian I’ve had in recent memory.
Went here on a date. Let me tell you if you’re looking to impress a chick take them here. 5 star North End restaurant but without the expensive price tag.
Ciao Bella!! nice throwback spot. fun floral wallpaper, think espresso martinis and all italian favorites just done really well
Great spot in the North End with really good food and service. We will definitely return
Great food! Great view from second floor. Music playlist was bad.. only thing we noticed.
Food, service, and ambiance were stellar. Great place to eat on a Saturday night. We try different places in the North End, and this is definitely one of our new favorites. Nice to see a place that makes their own pasta and knows what they’re doing. Highly recommend Ciao Bella.
they helped me plan a surprise dinner and were very accommodating, thank you!
Great food, eclectic wine list, and service that was attentive but never overbearing. I look forward to returning. Try the octopus!
What a find! While walking the Freedom Trail in Boston’s North End (little Italy) we were drawn in to this beautiful building and bar. We were endeared upstairs overlooking what the waiter told us was the oldest square in the country! Amazing classic Italian fare and quite possibly the best bolognese we’ve ever had. Don’t miss the espresso martini. Service was kind and prompt. Will definitely return next time we are in Boston.
An unforgettable meal while traveling in Boston. We were looking for North End restaurant recommendations, and glad we found this gem. The bone in veal entrees are to die for. Only negative is we didn’t save room for dessert and home made limoncello!
Preis- Leistungsverhältnis stimmte nicht. Der Ober war unfreundlich und nicht gerade Serviceorientiert. Schade um das Geld!
The best restaurant in the North End of Boston! Amazing homemade pastas, great wine list, perfect service, and beautiful views of North Square. We’ll be back soon!
Food was slow to come out, and chicken parm was burnt when it did finally get served
Pappardelle pasta made in house with truffle shaved over the top was amazing. I had the Squid ink lobster ravioli and it was incredible. My boyfriend had the chicken piccata and loved it. Service was awesome and restaurant was cozy but wasn’t too squished like some north end restaurants. Over all great experience, will definitely be back!
The food is unbelievable ! Amazing and cozy place with very nice staff! My favorite is lobster ravioli ! The best I ever had...the drinks are very good too! Try lemon drop! And have a very good homemade limoncello with an afogatto as a desert
Is also very well located !
Will definitely come back
The food was just "okay", but the drinks were strong and really delicious. Our waitress was really friendly and even though it was busy and it was sometimes a wait before we saw her again, she was attentive and even managed to get us 2 pieces of garlic bread (there isn't any gb or warm bread anywhere on the menu and she seemed surprised we asked).
The restaurant and vibe was nice enough, but the service was a little off... The biggest issues was the pasta was not very good. Got the chicken parm and pappardelle with red sauce. The chicken parm was just ok, not well seasoned, and the pasta was super bland and had no flavor. The pasta itself should have been salted appropriately, and the sauce needed more flavor. Too bad because I thought this place would be so good!
I was very nervous about the dining area when we arrived, we were taken upstairs to a spacious dining area and had a beautiful view of the square. Wish I could remember waitress she was perfect, allowed to dine and was helpful with wine suggestions. Will return, very nice!
Solid spot. Everything we had was great, especially the house made pasta. Service was stellar and the place had a really great vibe.
Everything was great but the meatballs were the Best EVER!!
The music blasted us overhead. The service was terrible. Not enough wait staff.
The noise level and music made it difficult to enjoy the food which was excellent.
Trying to understand why restaurants in a small space feel the need to add to the loud noise by adding music to the mix.
This restaurant was recently renovated and not sure why they didn’t attempt the service install noise reduction features.
Give the $$( dinner for 2 with tip and 2 drinks, no dessert) 150
It would be mice to actually converse with dining partner.
We ordered two different pastas one over cooked and mushy the other was over cooked
The bolonagase was dry not enough red sauce
The veal Marsala was very fatty and smothered in mushrooms to the point I could barely find the veal
Waiter was very good as was the diet coke and water
We were in Boston for medical appointments so decided to explore the North End as a treat. The food was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend.
Everything was perfect t!! Awesome food and great atmosphere.
I was disappointed with my Ciao Bella was Experience. I read about it on Eater - it was listed as one of the hottest restaurants in Boston right now. However when we showed up for our 7 pm reservation there was no one there while other restaurants in the North End were clearly very busy. Then, the waitress recommended the burrata and said it’s the best, and I love burrata so we ordered it, however when came out it was very firm instead of melty gooey amazingness. Then I asked what the difference is between piccata and Milanese since I was unfamiliar with the latter and they were both described on the menu as having lemon flavoring. The waitress said piccata came with angel hair while Milanese came with salad. We ordered the Milanese and it ends up that it is fried meat and is not saucy like piccata. These are two key differences I feel the waitress should have ordered. Additionally, we had their spaghetti with clams which was underwhelming. Overall, I don’t feel the meal was worth the money I spent at Ciao bella.
Traditional North End Italian, very well executed. Portions are generous. Oysters very fresh.
The Pasta Fra Diavolo was spicy (which we liked) and had generous quantities of lobster, shrimp, clams and calamari. Very tasty and sufficient reason to return just for that.
Wine list is reasonably priced. Not a huge selection but a good variety.
Service was friendly and attentive.
Bar service was excellent. Dining service was poor - meals were served missing utensils, never came back to as ask if all was well or pour the wine (which was left on the table without an ice bucket). Food was fair and not worth a return visit based on service upstairs.
Good food decent service, food was done well and worth the greatness. Nice work by all!!
Waitress handled tough table well. Only negative was they didn’t offer me cheese for me penne alla vodka. The fra Diablo was enough for 3 meals. Great presentation!
Food was terrible
It was our 15th anniversary and we had lots of options during our one night stay in Boston. We knew we wanted Italian, so opted to try this newly opened restaurant. We were seated upstairs. At 7:30pm we thought it would be packed, even with a reservation but it was still pretty early and several empty tables, which was fine for us. The waiter was real nice, even buying us a round of drinks, which included my wife's $22/glass of wine (yeah per glass, not bottle! It's Boston). Dinner was good, as was overall service. Wait time for getting our food was reasonable too. Overall, it's a decent restaurant that we would suggest, especially since everywhere else we looked was full that night. As it gets more popular, this will probably change.
Place is beautiful. Service standard. Unfortunately both dinners simply were not good. Very salty - did not taste good. Spaghetti was starchy and sauce was tasteless. No bread available at early dinner sitting? We were asked to keep our salad forks for main course Not a major problem but dont feel its acceptable in a pricy restaurant. PWellrices are bit expenses compared to many other N End restaurants. First dinner we have had in North End in 20 years that we both found was simply not prepared well. Changeover from seafood to Italian needs much work in the kitchen. So very sorry to give a bad review as we were so looking forward to eating in the recently re opened restaurant.
Amazing food and friendly staff! I’ll definitely be going again!
My girlfriend and i went for dinner on Sunday and we had an OK experience. the staff downstairs greeted us as soon as we walked in and took us to our table. there is a gentleman who came by and put some silverwares on the table for us (table wasnt fully set when we sat down). the server came soon after and took our drink order. another server stopped by a few min later to take our order (she didnt know that we already had a server). the 1st server came back again to fill up our water glasses, and when the drinks came, we placed our food orders. up to that point everything was fine. the food took a while to come out, and when the food came, our server never came to check on us to see if food was okay or if we needed anything else. The gentleman who set the table and brought our food was very nice, we asked him for some parmesan cheese and he brought it out very quickly. My food was delicious, but my girlfriend’s food was very salty. Since noone came to check on us, and we waited a while to get our food, she didnt want to wait anymore and ate the food anyways. Our server never came back since the last time she took our order. We asked another server for the drink menu again, and let her know that the food was so salty and noone came to check. She was very apologetic and very sweet, she felt really bad, and offered to give us something on the house. Although she wasn’t our server, she went and put in our drink orders, and kept apologizing. She also comp my girlfriend’s food and went back to let the kitchen staff know that the food was salty. She really made a difference because after our first server disappeared, and the food wasn’t eatable, we were getting upset, but she made everything okay. she was super professional and very nice. Both servers had the same name, Brianna. We want to say big thanks to the Brianna (who worked the evening shift on Sunday), you did a great job. the other Brianna can learn from you. We would give place another try.
The service was great. Very attentive and they let me change the type of pasta with no worries. I did think the portions were pretty big and couldn’t finish all my pasta. Perhaps a side salad would be good with the entrees to just mix up the taste a bit. Otherwise it was delicious.
A newly opened spot, Ciao Bella offers quality Italian eats in a beautiful space. Highly recommend the capraese salad and spaghetti carbonara. Come for the food, enjoy the beautiful interior.
Food was ok, not great. Small portions. Service was very bad, unfortunately. Wait staff was unsure who was waiting on our table, and then completely forgot about us. There are many better options in the North End - will not return.
