About Churrascos - The Woodlands

Its namesake – the famed Cordúa Churrasco steak - sparked Houston’s Latin American revelation 25 years ago, and the flame is still burning strong at Churrascos.

The tantalizing menu mixes up native Latin ingredients with the unexpected for a culinary line-up that is as artful as it is delightful, including bacon-wrapped shrimp taquitos, ethereally light angel wings, bahia grilled chicken, yuca fries, and, of course, the award-winning Churrasco – voted one of the best 20 steaks in America by Esquire magazine.

Churrascos is the official caterer of the Houston Texans.

Reservation was at 8:15 they we're running behind a little bit. At 8:45 I had to approach the host stand cause I could see clean reset tables. They totally forgot about us and left us sitting there. Good thing I got up and asked. Some of the food was over charred and tasted burnt. I think cause by this time they were closing soon and ready to be done for the night. Rated the restaurant a 3, our server was excellent but overall experience I was really not impressed.

I ordered the crab & avocado salad which was crab served in hollowed tomato halves on a bed of guacamole. It was good.

Sat outside on the beautiful patio for dinner. It was Sunday at 7:15 p.m.- there was only one other table of people in the entire restaurant. Our waitress didn't know the menu well or how to handle substitutions. I didn't want the habanero on my Pargo fish, so I asked for the chef to omit it. What I received was a completely dry fish with shrimp on it and no seasoning. I never said I wanted tasteless fish, I just didn't want my mouth on fire. When I asked the waitress about sauce, she was confused, then blamed me for saying I didn't want habanaero, then went to ask the chef and by the time she returned my fish was cold. The fish and shrimp was so overcooked I had to press really hard just to cut it. She didn't seem at all concerned with my dining experience or happiness. I even put on my reservation that it was a special night- and the restaurant was empty so it should have been easy to cater to the table even the slightest bit. Maybe their food/service is why the restaurant was vacant?

The only problem that we had was the very small flying insects that were flitting around our table. Not flies or mosquitos , not sure what they were. Your food is the exceptional. This was our second trip to your restaurant and it did not disappoint. Our waiter was very good!

Enjoyed Churrascos brunch for Thanksgiving, BUT Americas was much better. The buffet was not as extensive as with Americas and several items eliminated. The best was the meat, filet with Chimichurri. I like the bar now {which is new and downstairs so you can see the water}. The layout was good with the remodel, but buffet was better with Americas.

They had a large party going on, so it was very loud. Service wasn't fabulous, it was okay as it was very busy. Wine was good, we ended up pouring our own second glass. Overall, fun experience, but I would probably only go for the location and for special events.

Disappointing. We had the first reservation of the Sunday brunch service at 10:30am and already some of the items were cold and/or dried out. Fish, chicken all cold and dry. Very little in the way of fresh salads or veg. Far too many deep fried items and there is absolutely no excuse for instant mashed potatoes, none. Our server was inattentive at best, buffet attentants were far more friendly and accommodating. Highlight was the sweets in the dessert section, but this was not what we came for. Will not return.

We have been going to Churrascos on Westheimer for over 20 years. This was our third visit to The Woodlands location since it changed to Churrascos and it saddens us to see how fast this restaurant is going downhill.

Food is still good but not for value anymore. Service was friendly but orders never arrived (they were not charged either). Plate contents are less for more money. The Churrasco used to come with a lovely family plate of vegetables and rice - not anymore. Price of the churrasco is very high... $59 for a 10 oz piece of churrasco?? If celebrating a birthday, the person with the birthday always got a free Tres Leches, not anymore.

If the quality and value of both food and service is now the same at all locations, it is time for us to find a new favorite place.

Has management changed? Is this not owned by Mr. Cordua anymore?

Quite a letdown from when it was America’s. Service was mediocre at best. Three different waiters and understaffed for sure. We ordered snapper and salmon and both were ok but over cooked. Meal got there before they took our wine order.
The one shining star was the tres leche cake. Same recipe from America’s and still best around

We are actually from the Memorial area visiting the Woodlands for the day. We cannot express how disappointed we were of this location. From the wait staff to management. First of all, while eating the plantains, we ran out of sauce. We asked 4 times for more sauce. The waiter became confrontational and asked which sauce we wanted. Well, we thought it was obvious that we wanted the sauces that they initially served us along with our plantains. Instead, the waiter went off on all these sauces and ended up bringing out about 7 different sauces to mock us. To make it worse, my husband ordered the kabob with chicken and shrimp. He got salmon and shrimp. We all tried it and it was clearly salmon. When we told the waiter and manager, they insisted it was chicken. I’m sure we can tell the difference between fish and chicken folks. And while we are talking about fish, we also ordered the trout which came out burnt to a crisp. It was black and tasted bitter. But yet, the waiter and manager insisted that it was blackened and not burnt. We offered for the manager to try both dishes to see for himself. We’ve never been to an upscale establishment where the entire staff was argumentative. Needless to say, this meal ruined everyone’s evening. The manager did adjust our bill but all we wanted was for our food to come out as we ordered. Before leaving we got our parking validated for both cars. They only validated one car and the other one was an expired validation ticket from a few months back. I kept everything along with photos for proof. I really hope the general manager reaches out to me about this. Thoroughly disappointed from beginning to end.

Delicious, fresh South American food on The Woodlands Waterway with a great view of the Waterway. The steak was very well seasoned but not overpowering. The flour tortillas where fresh and moist on our pork dish. Our server, Audrey, was very attentive, welcoming, and did a great job. Please note that validated parking is available at the parking lot next to the Marriott hotel, but you need to ask the receptionist for the prepaid ticket.

The only negative for ALL the restaurants on the Woodlands Waterway area is the way the restrooms are configured with limited number of single occupancy bathrooms on the ground floor and overflow capacity bathrooms on the upper floors. This is not just an issue with this restaurant, but all the restaurants include the pizza restaurant across the street and the pub next door.

We made reservations for dinner and were seated right away. The restaurant was not busy at all, and we were seated in a section all alone with another couple. After about 15 minutes of dinning, a large group of teenagers came flooding being loud and having fun. We finally asked to be moved and so did the other couple. I'm glad they were having fun, but not sure why the hostess sat us in that small room knowing that this large part was coming in. I feel this was a big inconvenience for us and our nice evening was interrupted. This was not a good first impression, thankfully their did was good...very good.

This location used to be America’s, so the ambiance didn’t change much since they’re owned by the same company. The food was not as good as America’s but it wasn’t bad. If I’m going to pay that kind of money, I want the food to “wow” me and make me want to return. I did not have that feeling. We had the crab fondue for an appetizer and both had a steak. Neither meal was anything other than “3-star-good”.

It was our anniversary and noted on the reservation. Even though there were several nice tables they tried to seat us at a two-person tabletop next to the bar. We were requested another table and they did move us. The complimentary appetizer of chips and chimichurri sauce never appeared. It was several moments before we had a waiter. The wine was not great. The food was basic. The service was slow. All in all not a great experience.

When there's an omelet line, we shouldn't have to wait so long to get salt & pepper for the table. Sad to note the disappearance of béarnaise sauce for the tenderloin.

I reserved a table for 6 at 6pm on Sunday the 24th. Got there about 5:55pm and the hostess said it would be about a 5 minute wait. 45 minutes later we finally get to our table and we wait another 15 minutes for a waiter that never came. We left and went across the street to a pizza place where they sat us and served us within 10 to 15 minutes. Churrascos had many open tables that night but i guess management did not plan accordingly and they were short staffed. This is totally inexcusable especially when there was a concert at the pavilion that night, which is where we were headed after dinner. The manager for that night should be demoted due to the fact that my table bill alone would have been at least $500(probably more) not to mention all the open tables that were not being used on that night(while people were waiting to be seated). I will never go to your establishment again as you embarrassed me in front of my companies biggest customer.

Went to Sunday Brunch and was profoundly disappointed. Have been to several Churrascos and Americas numerous times in my 25+ years in the Houston area and this was the lowest of low points. Traditionally enjoy the menu items at Churrascos& Americas, look forward to great food, prompt service and professional staff. Missing on our visit were all the above. Never saw a manager circulating or supervising. Food uninspired and staff standing around doing nothing . Restaurant had only 6 or so tables filled at any time during our visit from approx 12:15-1:00 pm which suggested the low turnout confirmed our low opinion. This location will be out of business shortly without immediate remedy - sad.

Upon arrival, we were told our reservations were 'on hold' and it would be a 15 minute wait - reality was a 45 minute wait as if we just walked in without reservations. We saw many others with reservations being told similar stories. When we were seated, they had run out of several items we ordered. Manager offered loads of interesting excuses. This is the second visit in a row where there have been issues with this location.

Although we are long time fans of Churrascos, Americas, & Artista, we simply won't come back to this location.

We got to the restaurant on time for our OpenTable reservation only to learn we we're put on a wait list. The said it would be 15 minutes but turned into an hour. Our waitress was new but trying very hard. Our drinks took another 20 minutes to get to the table. Our food was well prepared and everything was to our order. My steak was slightly over cook and not very warm. At the end they couldn't process our gift card we had planned to use due to a system problem. We were told through out the evening this was an odd night and very busy and not to judge the service. We we're giving some coupons for discounts on a future visit. A little pricey for the quality of the food. I would still recommend the place to try it.

My food was really not good. I had 6 small grilled shrimp, curled up about the size of quarters, with dull rice and a couple of vegetable strips. Service was good, as our waiter was very nice. Margarita was OK, but nothing special. Whole place seems like staff, management, really don't care too much. That's a shame. This used to be a great place as Americas; Churrascos in Houston was usually good. The long hallway to the elevator reminds me of a carnival hall of mirrors!

I was skeptical because it had changed from Americas to Churrascos. Same family but years and years ago I ate at the one off Westheimer and the churrasco steak was not as tasty as Atistas or Americas. Well, this was not the case here, the steak was divine, the service was excellent, and the tres leches was the best as usual. I highly recommend this restaurant. Also, they will validate your parking if you park in the Marriott parking garage.

We've not visited since the conversion from America's to Churrascos. Same family and general cuisine but a bit more casual style. I miss the upstairs 'dance club' bar but commend how well they integrated the new downstairs bar into the dining area. Bet it's loud at some hours but not during our lunch. As usual, excellent food and service. And what a bargain with HRM.

Went there for HRW. The food was mediocre, no creativity & no flavors. Even the plating was one of those chain restaurants' like sloppy, seemed no care & love put into making dishes.
I wonder, the situation would have been different if we ordered from their regular menu items.
