Churrascos-Sugar Land Ratings and Reviews
Have been going to Churrascos for years, seems the food quality isn’t what it used to be, and complimentary sides to the entrees have disappeared in some cases. Happy hour prices exist only in the bar area or outside, that seems too restrictive due to limited seating.
Our waiter Ronald G really made our visit especially pleasant. He offered suggestions and when I was having trouble choosing between two dishes, he brought a combination so I could try both. I felt like he went above and beyond. The food is always consistently good and the Sugar Land location is my favorite by far. As an aside, their Sunday Brunch buffet is also a winner.
My husband and I decided to try Churrascos for the first time. We we’re seated immediately but waited quite a few minutes for a waiter to attend to us. I ordered the grilled pork topped with crab meat with rice and black beans. My husband ordered the shrimp and chicken brochettes. The chicken was pink and not cooked all the way. The waiter had his entire entree remade and the manager comp his meal along with the dessert. The overall experience was good and our waiter was really nice!
Came to Churrascos-Sugar for the Thanksgiving event/buffet. I was grandly disappointed. Our reservation was fine. We were seated with little explaination as to what to do. We were going to be seated inside at a large table. We were only 3 people. The inside was very dark and drab, so we asked to be seated outside. Took our waitress 15 minutes to get to us to take drinks. When we finally were told what the options were for the day went to the buffet line came back to table and our place settings were taken by the table next to us! That was very rude. They never apologized or asked the waitress to replace our place settings. Took waitress another 10 minutes to come with replacements and drink refills. Food got cold. Made the whole lack of “thanksgiving food” options worse. They was only some dried turkey breast and roast that may have been thanksgiving -ish food. Everything else was whatever they normally serve on the menu. Felt sick halfway through meal and that just tanked the whole meal. Never going back. The ONLY thing that was good was the plantain chips and cilantro sauce!! Very disappointed.
Horrible experience! It was just me and my husband. The crowds were terrible. The noise was too much to enjoy the meal an a conversation. The lines for food were out of control. We attempted to start the buffet line, but there were so many people we couldn't begin to serve ourselves! We asked our server to close out our tab so we could exit the restaurant as soon as possible. We left without eating anything! My husband had a glass of tea an I had one cocktail. At least our server was helpful in responding to our request to leave as soon as possible. She must have spoken with a manager, because we were not charged for our drinks.
This would have been our fourth and finale visit for Thanksgiving! We would never recommend the restaurant to family or friends for Thanksgiving ever!!
What disaster and huge disappointment for us after being long time customers in the area!
The food is always fantastic at Churrasco's. Highly recommend taking a trip and trying out their menu. Wednesday they have a fantastic corn soup that I wish they would offer every day. They know how to cook a steak and their plantains are perfect. Also, try the bread pudding. It's so worth it!
You Set a BAR , WITH THE SATURDAY BRUNCH..why!
Because not a crowded as Sunday.. Food exquisite, AGAIN, exquisite.. TABLE SERVICE
ABOVE BOARD !
Ambience wonderful... Food exquisite Did I already say that.
Only improvement, the first two gentlemen (Sat. Nov. 11) on WAffle, egg, Duty,, not friendly,
not engaging, DRY, DISINTERESTED IN THE clients..... took away from the great spirit of the restaurant.. They should not be FIRST....
Just my opinion! I think a coaching talk about what they should present, should help as you
observe them after the coaching without their knowing it. ::))) It's all about customer service.
The atmosphere was charged as they were hosting a high school homecoming. The party was in the back of the restaurant so the regular dining area was not too disrupted.
We got to the restaurant on the time of our reservation (6:45) and we were immediately seated. Plantain chips and sauces were quickly served to us along with water and lemons.
We ordered the crab/avocado salad and said we wanted to share it. It was served to us on 2 plates already split, which we thought was a nice touch. My wife ordered the plantain encrusted chicken. The dish came with 3 chicken fillets which was a huge amount of food. My wife was only able to eat one of the fillets, with the rest in a to go box for future enjoyment. I ordered the plantain encrusted shrimp, which also was a nice size entrée.
The occasion was my wife's birthday, and they gave her a complementary Tres Lecis (spelling).
Overall it was a very good dining experience.
We went on a Sunday night when there was a concert nearby. The restaurant was understaffed for the crowd. The waiter tried but service was not good. We waited for food. We waited to get a steak knife which we should have gotten when the food was served. We never got a chance to order a second drink. Overall service was mediocre.
The food was excellent, well prepared, flavorful, and fresh. No complaints with the food.
What really disappointed us was the lack of accommodating our requests. We like booths since it is easier to converse with less noise and my husband is hard of hearing. I requested one but I was told none were available This hurt since went there to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary, which I put on the Open Table reservation.
Overall, we would rate this as a 3.5 star experience.
Food is usually very well prepared and delicious but this time I have to knock off a star because in our group of six diners, one was served almost raw chicken that had come off a skewer. Great presentation but not cooked enough. The server was horrified and took care of it, but it meant one of our group sat and watched the other five eat their meal. The meal was eventually replaced and was cooked just right. Management apologized and didn't charge for the meal.
We eat here fairly often and have never had a problem so we are treating this as an isolated incident which probably will never happen again.
We will however always cut our chicken up, even if it is in bite sized pieces!
I had put a comment that we were celebrating my wife's birthday in the comment section when making the reservation and the restaurant had a special table waiting with a birthday card. Also our waiter brought out a complimentary cake for dessert without me saying anything. Very nice service!!
We ate outside, and there is a nice waterside view there with a pleasant patio. Service was overall pretty good, the only mistake was that we received our appetizer after the main course. The food ranged from ok to excellent. I had carnitas and I found them a bit dry. My wife ordered churrasco, and it was excellent. The fried plaintains and sauces served were excellent, and we had tres leches for desert, which was also excellent. I ordered a beer from Argentina, which was very good.
The food Was OK and a little over priced. The wine (red) was brought to the table too warm. When asked to cool it to cellar temp they brought out a sleeve chiller that did not make much difference. Tres Leche was almost to sweet to consume.
