Churrascos - River Oaks
pan roasted shrimp, heart of palm, garlic, cilantro & sherry cream
Mac & Cheese
with grilled chicken
We waited at the front for over 15 minutes as we had a dinner reservation. So we decide to walk to the bar for a drink before happy hour ends. That was a 10 minute wait.
The Bartender took our drinks and walked us to a table. We met our waitress. The 2 Lady's communicated our order mistakenly. My order was great but my boyfriend's order was the wrong size steak - he ordered 12oz Churrasco's plate.
It was mentioned when I made the reservation that we were celebrating my Birthday and staff did not bring out a dessert.
Food was sub-par and dried out. We got there for 11am and they open at 10:30. Most meats were dry but made better by the chimichurri. I struggled to cut through the plantain crusted chicken. Nominal selection of sides.
Breakfast station was cool setup but port. Omelette station: They unfortunately did not have egg whites for the omelette station. Even upon request they couldn’t crack some eggs for egg whites. Would have been a plus.
French toast: setup had syrup, Nutella, etc. they were fried vs grilled. And tasted very oily fried which overpowered the other flavors.
Ambiance was nice and service was good. All in all it was not worth the value.. Sour note in choosing them for our 10 year anniversary meal. Was $100 for two people.
Could have done Chama Gaucha or Fogo for that. Would not recommend brunch.
Great price on Wednesday Puntas special! Delicious cilantro dressing!
Flavors and sauces are deli
Service and food were great!!
Worst experience ever! We had a reservation for 8:45 and we were still waiting for our food until 10:45 we left without eating... needless to say we would never go there again.
We got a last minute reservation on Valentines, a busy night so we completely understand service issues. Showed up a little early for our reservation and it was a 30-45 min wait for a table. So it was overbooked. We saw a place at the bar and asked the receptionist if we could just eat there. She said yes, so we moved to the bar. The bartender refused to acknowledge us, again he was busy but to intentionally not look at the patrons when walking back and forth between the ends of the bar was unprofessional. We actually had to speak quite loudly to get a cocktail menu and the Jr. bartender came over to us to take our drink order. We asked if we could eat there, the bartender said he was too busy so no. However, the Jr. bartender offered to take our order. We told him that the bartender said we couldn't eat but he said that's silly and offered to take our order.
We saw several other customers come up for drinks and the bartender intentionally ignored them and lectured the jr bartender for waiting on us. We saw a couple at the bar for 15 minutes standing up against the bar with no one in front of them not get waited on.
The food was great but the service was downright horrible.
Evidently they ran out of glasses as they were not running their glasses in the dishwasher for a full cycle. My wife became very upset as that is a health hazard. We will never go back to this restaurant. It is sad as this used to be one of our favorite places. And if I'm going to spend 150-200 for dinner and drinks I at least expect courtesy.
The service was good but it felt a little rushed. We felt like we were seated in a minute-dating style. I usually have 3 drinks when we go out but I almost didn't finish my second drink when they picked up my glass, brought my dessert, and immediately followed with the check. No chance for coffee! But the food as always, amazing! I would recommend this place, but not on Valentine's Day if what you're looking for is a nice slow dinner where you can linger and leave when you are ready.
Food was slow. Didn’t realize it was only set course menus for Valentines Day. Took 40 min between my entree and getting the dessert, which they had forgotten about. The server did not come around in appropriate timing either. Which is the reason why it took me so long to ask for the dessert that they had forgotten about.
My wife and I went for Valentine's Day, which had a fixed price menu that came with an appetizer, main course and dessert. It was limited, but it had the Churrasco Steak on it, which is what we wanted. Being Valentine's Day and a Friday night, it was very busy. I had a reservation for 6PM and, due to traffic, we didn't get there until 6:15. Their policy is to cancel the reservation at that point, but we were lucky that it wasn't completely full yet. By the time we left, the line was out the door and looked like a long wait. Overall, it was a good experience, and we did not feel rushed.
The food was good but is very overpriced.
We had a good waiter but we show a lot food going to wrong table. The deserts were very good.
Service was good. Had to send my steak back as it was. Over cooked. Pleasant evening but a little disappointed.
Loved our waiter, Juan. Always takes great care of my wife and me.
So disappointing. The restaurant looked depressing and old/dated. It’s like the management didn’t care that it is 2020–they are stuck in 1970. No one was there. The food was fine but not worth the price. I had gone years ago to another location and loved it. Maybe my taste has changed but I’d never go back, it was a wasted New Years Eve. The one good thing is that our server was nice.
I remember this as a vibrant restaurant with excellent food and service. Sadly all the above has gone except the very high prices. NEVER GOING BACK.
Average at best, crowded with children and the lights were never dimmed for dinner. Felt like a cheap restaurant, not romantic at all. Food was underwhelming
Terrific Xmas eve dinner
The menu had changed since my last visit. I had a more difficult time finding a dish that looked good. Even the drinks menu changed. Disappointed that the cocktails were made with either rum or tequila ( I don't care for either). It was quiet, so my friend and I could actually have a conversation without shouting.
Love those cookies!
Excellent for a Sunday Brunch. Loved the variety of delicious food!
The food wasn’t as good as it usually was and it took a really long time to get more plantain chips. Overall it was still a good experience, just not as good as it usually is.
I was not pleased with the quantity and quality of food for the money I spent. 34.00 for grilled fillet with 3 chewy grilled shrimp is not my cup of tea.
Churrascos never disappoints! The brunch was fantastic. I especially enjoyed the pasta station and the tres leches pancakes!
Haven't been to this restaurant in many years since moved away. Had date night with wife since in town and one of her favorite restaurants years ago. Pollo encamisado and petite churrasco just like from 20 years ago and the tres leches is as killer as always. Bravo churrascos!
8th Anniversary. Food & Service excellent
Brownie Desert very hard could not eat so they took it off the check. Was looking forward to it.
Overall Excellent Experience
Love their Sunday buffet. Lots of great options!
Great place to get a good meal and enjoy a quite place with a loved one. Happy hour is only at the bar.
The chicken empanadas were great! Service great, as usual.
Great food great service. Coming back!
Food was great, service was great. We live in lake Charles and go to Houston to eat there
Food was good and tasty. Staff was friendly and attentive.
Monthly wine dinner which is always outstanding!! Great food and wines. Try to go every month since it is so good
Great as always! When l asked for a dish they normally only serve for dinner, they made it for me for lunch! Love the place. Cilantro dressing is unlike any other!! The best.
Juan Pablo & Tino are the Best!! So Attentive!
This has been one of my favorite restaurants for a very lo g time however I moved out of state for a while and this was my first trip back in 2 years. I was very disappointed my favorite dish wasnt on the menu any longer but was told if they had the ingredients it could be prepared. That made me happy. When the meal came out it wasnt the same, still very good but not as good. It seems the restuarant has become more casual as well. Didnt love that.
Perfect for a casual with family and friends
Excellent food, larger plates for a lunch menu than most of other places, excellent service.
Both my daughter and I always celebrate our birthdays (one day apart) at Churrascos. Great steaks and desserts.
Food was great. Paid the extra for the 8oz steak, however we received a 6oz steak. Although we questioned it, our waitress continued to claim that it was an 8oz steak and did not want to replace it. Other than that annoyance, the experience was great and food delicious.
Excellent service and food
