Nice Place ...Dinner was Great...only thing is it was cold..heat needed to be turned up...
We enjoyed ourselves, the food and service was good. However, the bathrooms smelled really horrible. They need to do better. Besides the bathroom stench the over all experience was good.
Kaya was an excellent server. She helped us all celebrate my birthday. We had fun in a cool spot!
It was very loud and cold in the restaurant however the food was really good and the service was great!
First time there! Would come back
The restaurant is very cold inside Most customers kept their coats on. The food was good but not excellent. I have been there multiple times and this was the worst visit. The bartender can’t make traditional drinks to taste how they should.
We were excited to try this restaurant after the reopening, but we were as disappointedly unimpressed as we were the last time we tried 5 Church. It was not bad; it just was not good for the price. It was restaurant week, but we ordered a mix of what was on the set menu and from the main menu because of the limited options and dietary preferences. That was a bad idea! The serving sizes and temperature of the appetizer and dessert we ordered made it clear they were intended for the set menu. The entrees were okay, but not close to the quality we expected for the price.
Restaurant week menu was very good but 3 of 4 ordered off the regular menu, which is a great option for restaurant week. It was very cold in the dining room. Service was good but needs a little training.
Love the space and the food. Service was good BUT the place was freezing! Yes CLT was having a snow storm BUT 90% of the patrons ate with jackets and costs on including my wife.
So yes I would/will return but maybe after they upgrading the heating system or the windows!
Such an amazing meal! Came here for my birthday and Charlotte Restaurant week and it was such an excellent experience! We had a large party of 9 people and they were so attentive and nice! Highly recommend this place for a special occasion! We got to watch the snow coming down in this beautiful restaurant and it was so nice!
Stumbled on this place during restaurant week. It was a gem and everything was fantastic!
The building is beautiful. the staff and waitress were great. We were extremely cold during dinner. Our food was absolutely delicious. The Wasabi-crusted salmon was outstanding and the Flank steak was tender and tasty. We would have enjoyed our experience so much more if we were comfortable. Our whole section had the same experience. Please fix the door so that your guest will not be uncomfortable.
Went here for wife’s 30th birthday. 1st time going and pleasantly surprised by the place. Food was delicious as well. Filet and New York strip were on point along with the cu burger and all the sides were delicious. Honestly the only part we struggled with was the seating arrangement it was very nice just a little awkward getting in an out.
I only have (4) stars because one of the hostesses was rude!!!! I'd requested a romantic booth because it was my husband's birthday. She acted as if it was a huge problem to accommodate when there were several booths available. Her manager made it happen and I was glad!!! The food was outstanding! The service was (5) star! The ambiance was EVERYTHING!! We will go again!!!!!!!
Such an amazing experience for our birthdays!! Amazing service and great food
Food, drinks and service were all top notch. My only issue was that we had early reservations and the restaurant was almost empty but we were seated directly next to another party in very tight area of the restaurant and directly next to the servers station which is not optimal and seemed unnecessary . I should have requested to be moved.
Ambience is cool but food and service were mediocre.
twice in one week, most attentive staff food is outstanding lo e this place .
Great food, great vibes, great service! Loved the variety of the food!
Birthday for a friend
Food was great. Fried Chicken a tab bland, but nice and crispy. Our server was so pleasant and made the birthday special.
Food was warm at best. Steak had an awful sauce on it, scallops were barely cooked and chicken app tasted reheated. Carrot cake should be called a spice cake, not carrot. Great location and pretty inside but way over priced compared to the quality.
Nice dinner before a show at Belk. Valet parking free. Was pretty lively and full on a Saturday night. The Delmonico steak was really good. Good service. Very funky/trendy decor. It reminded us of restaurants in NYC. Will return.
Loved the staff and the food. Even if it was busy they still gave a wonderful service !
We were placed upstairs and I commented how dark it was but the waiter pointed out his section and we were the only ones upstairs at the time so I hated to move and he not have any patrons. It was like we were in the waiter’s area where they gather. Downstairs was bright and active. It took about 30 minutes for our cocktail which we ordered as soon as seated. I asked our waiter about the size of the sides and he said “oh average” but they were definitely “shareable” sides at $10 each ; probably 3-4 ppl. Could share. Based on his comment, we each ordered our own (same thing) which ended up being such a waste. He did NOT ask us if we wanted coffee or desserts.
The steak was delicious! We had a sirloin and filet and both were excellent.
I was stunned at the prices and total bill but that’s the way it seems lately especially downtown anywhere.
2 of us, 1 appetizers each, I martini each, steak and each a $10 side = $188 before tip. 🤷♀️
I think If we had insisted on being seated downstairs my attitude would of been better if our cocktails would of come earlier.
The food was amazing! The restaurant was too dark…needs better lighting. The address was also very confusing to find for someone who doesn’t live here.
Meh. The food was fine. Service was fine. Nothing was awful or spectacular.
Loved the VIP treatment and Emanuel did an excellent job with the service - no rushing to turnover the table but kept our glasses filled with his professionalism and polish. Grilled octopus was outstanding with its smoky flavor, Delmonico chef's way was delectable with a side of succulent broccoli topped with flecks of fried parmesan, and the Hazelnut Bomb for dessert was the perfect ending to a special birthday celebration. Thank you Church & Union for going above and beyond our expectations and never disappointing!
A bit cold and didn't appear to have a number of advertised beers, but overall a great place and will definitely patron again. Food was excellent.
This was our first visit. The waiter was not friendly and seem not knowledgeable of the menu items for recommendation. Not personal or excited that we were there. Would like to see more choices for main dishes and sides.
Our server was great and very helpful. The ambiance was quality and the food was amazing. The mussels are to die for and the Delmonico was just how I like it. Can’t wait to come again!
My husband and I met my brother and his wife for a New Year’s Eve cocktail early at Church & Union. It was a celebration on New Year’s Day. We arrived at 5 PM. The place had just changed over from 5Church to its new name Church i& Union. A new menu is available with many of its old Staples still on the menu. We had a lovely tapas dinner including mussels, charcuterie tray and Caesar salads and pokey bowls. The food was excellent the service was top-notch and we would go again in a second. Nice to find a place that knows what they’re doing and open for New Years Day.
Shrimp & Grits tasted so good. Everyone was nice.
Overall food was very good. Our family of 4 (two school aged children) went for my wife's birthday on our way to the airport returning to south Florida from NC on New Year's Day (my wife is a New Years birthday) so at 1pm they only had a brunch menu. Server was also good, but it's not a family atmosphere per se. More of a hip singles and couples hang out. Decor was cool. They did gift my wife a dessert for her b-day so that was cool. Just didn't really know the place picking off of Open Table for location to the airport on our way back from the mountains.
We enjoyed the brunch menu and the mimosas. The atmosphere was also very nice. Recommend .
I took my girlfriend there for their New Year's Eve dinner. The server was great and the drinks were good. The steaks were cooked perfectly, and the desserts were wonderful.
These places never disappoint! The risotto and dessert were amazing! Well, so was everything.
Food wasn’t up to par.
Fantastic first experience here! It was NYE and they still got it perfect!
