Church and Union exceeded our already high expectations in every facet of our dining experience. Food was incredible, service was fantastic, and we had a lovely date night. I’ll be talking about this place for awhile, and we can’t wait to return to Charleston for a visit!

We had a date here and both the Ravioli and the Filet were great . They have a hummus appetizer that was awesome. Also a shout out to the cherry tomato and onion dish that came on the steak!!

We had to send the wings back. They were pure salt. The beet and burrata salad was good. Waiter was kind of spacey. Very cool atmosphere though.

This was our final meal while visiting Charleston, and it was by far the best meal we had. The unique atmosphere of this place was the first thing that really set this restaurant apart from others. Then our waiter-exceptional! He knew the menu and drink selection and provided us guidance on the best selections. The food was incredible. The humus and chips along with the salad were a great way to start a meal. The main entrees were the hand-made ravioli and the steak with potato hash. So flavorful! If you’re looking for a unique atmosphere, exceptional food, and wonderful service then this is the place!

This was a perfect place to try during restaurant week. The ambiance was beautiful. It is an old church with preserved stained glass windows, vaulted ceilings, cozy booths, high tops and a glorious bar set against the far wall with liquor/wine shelved almost up to the roof. We tried all 4 starters (burrata and beet, watermelon and feta salad, chorizo meatballs and flank steak skewers). They were all very tasty and are part of their normal menu with the exception of the skewers. Highly recommend any of them. Entrees were pan roasted chicken, flat iron steak, cacio e pepe and filet. All were amazing and would recommend as well. The only niggle I had was the pasta had no garnish. A few roasted tomatoes would have been a lovely accompaniment. The desserts were not impressive and I would suggest passing on them. The white chocolate lava cake (no lava, unless the ice cream was supposed to be the lava) was overdone, dense and dry. The peanut butter and raspberry layer cake was a touch better but the raspberry was a gelee consistency and the peanut flavor lacking. The service was impeccable and they were packed on a Sunday evening. Overall an 8 out of 10. I would definitely go back.

Great atmosphere. Perfect brunch spot. Wasn't crazy about the lack of variety of beers on draft. Two IPA's and a Bitter... Waitress was very knowledgeable and was able to recommend and give us great options for eating and drinking. Love the vibe of the place and there is a public parking lot right beside it.

The Restaurant Week menu was a great deal. I had the beet and burrata first course, which was interesting and well prepared. My 9 oz filet and my companion's flank steak were overcooked quite a bit (medium well instead of medium rare), but we were offered replacements or complimentary drinks. The dessert of white chocolate lava cake was delicious and just the right portions. A main attraction was the building itself, an old church that has (at least) three separate seating locations including the large lively bar area and an intimate patio in the back.

We went here for our anniversary. It was our first visit, and it was during restaurant week. The food was great, and the service was even better. Even though the noise levels were rather high (due to multiple bachelorette and other large parties), we had a great evening, and my wife ranks it as her favorite anniversary (out of 16).

I was excited to try this restaurant. However it has become a bachelorette go to. So large tables and it noise level is very high. If you want a nice dinner with a normal noise level restaurant then this place is not for you. We are in our 40’s and basically had to yell at each other. I would avoid on weekends. Staff was fantastic and food was good.

Way over rated. Wings super salty. Ravioli way too cheesey. However, The Ghost drink was very good. Overall, just know the ambience is what you are paying for. I’d say get a drink soak it up and then get food else where.

Nice venue, eclectic atmosphere, gorgeous bar. Noise level can get out of hand because of the high ceiling. Tables are close to each other BUT if you can get a corner ANYTHING this place does have a romantic vibe (my opinion) Food is good could be excellent.

I have eaten at Church and Union many times and it has been great. We had many issues last night, maybe because it's restaurant week. It was very cold, the baked chicken dish was salty and inedible. The manager explained they got a new hvac system and were still trying to get it to the right manager and he shut if off for a few minutes. He also offered to get me a new dish but I didn't care about it at that point. Our server was nice and tried to accommodate our needs. I would definitely try them again because they have always Bern great. Just a bad night!

We went for restaurant week and had a great time. The appetizers and entrees were fantastic! The dessert left a lot to be desired. My husband got the white chocolate lava cake and unfortunately there was only the tiniest drop of "lava". I got the peanut butter raspberry dessert. The cake was a little dry and you couldn't take the peanut butter because the raspberry was too strong. The service was great except for the fact that we had to ask for water refills (my husband's biggest pet peeve while dining out). Besides that all of the staff was very friendly and attentive.
