Chow Mixed Grill & BBQ
The food was delicious & the servings were generous. A lot of good comfort food with a BBQ twist.
The food was excellent and it was enough for at least 2 meals. Good value. The atmosphere was a little noisy. Could be a fun place also.
First we were greeted by the maitre d and then two waitresses passing through the lobby area. We had a reservation but it probably wasn't needed but we liked being sat in a large booth. It was one of the first cold winter nights of the season and it was nice to be in a cozy spot although many of the tables were close to the fireplace. Our waitress was super informed about their wines and had an opinion when solicited. She let us try small one ounce pours of three kinds and in the end we picked her fave, which was delicious. I would say with us breaking up our drink order (guys ordering what they wanted and not needing samples), it took some time for our wine to come after we picked one. Our waitress was also ready to answer questions about gluten free menu (with a paper menu for these times that she could share). When my friend ordered, she even double checked on the sauce for her pasta to make sure she chose a gluten free sauce. Our waitress was backed by at least two others that delivered the meals and brought extra drinks. The food was delicious - Rib Mac, Combo and Bolognese. Most of us had leftovers. We were not rushed out. We enjoyed our drinks and then were on our way. I will say that the booth we sat in may need some extra cushion. Seemed broken down a bit. All and all, even bathroom decor/space was really nice for a more upscale but casual dinner.
Very limited menu and quite expensive for what you get in the food was not very good. We will not go back there unless we try the big Bloody Mary.
Great dinner and super awesome vibe! Thank you for a great night!
Good food, nice staff. They do not have an allergy specific menu but are very knowledgeable about a variety of allegories and are willing to accommodate. I am a celiac and need gluten free. They cooked my food in a cleaned area, and were very specific on what they were serving me. A little higher priced for a burger, but it was a fantastic burger.
We were a tad disappointed in our visit. We had reservations at 7:30pm, but weren't seated until after 7:50, without an explanation why. Our food was ok, perhaps what we ordered just isn't the specialty there. One item was the Bay Scallop Linguine, which had the world's smallest scallops ever! They looked like jelly beans. The dish had asparagus, red peppers and herbed ricotta on top of the linguine, but it lacked flavor and also wasn't anything special that I couldn't have tossed together at home. The other meal we had was the Salmon and Grain, which was basically a slab of salmon with some barley grain on the side, no other side items/veggie etc. Both meals were priced at $18 and not worth the price after seeing what we got. I had the Seasonal Mule drink which was excellent.
The aroma smelled of wood fired pizza and brick oven bbq, so perhaps that is their specialty. If we go again, we would try something along those lines to give them another opportunity to impress our taste a bit more.
I ordered the bbq brisket, it was very fatty and the bbq sauce was ice cold. I would never order it again. My husband ordered a pasta dish, it was very bland. I would try the restaurant again but not order either of those items.
Highly recommend Chow. Food, Service, drinks were all good. Wait staff was great. Only down fall we came for their ribs and they were out already on a Tuesday night.
I wish they had had a veggie burger or a tofu dish on the menu.
I booked a reservation for 7:15. and recommended a quite area. Arrived and they said just cleaning off a table, be ready. Waited for about 15-20 minutes and got a table in the middle of the aisles between the back room and the main dining room near the check in desk...very discouraging.
We had a large group. A couple of the meals were underdone and/or cold and had to be returned and replaced. These individuals didn't get their meals until everyone else was done. Was difficult to get the attention of our server to get the bill - too busy to keep track of their tables.
Our appetizers and both entrees were first class, generous proportions, perfectly prepared, especially liked the poutine, the breakfast of Canadians everywhere, excellent. Our server was charming, very attentive, knew the menu very well and was the perfect complement to the outstanding food we enjoyed. We will return often.
We were seated at a table for 6 although it was just 2 of us. We were seated in the bar area which was nice for watching the hockey game but hard to carry on a conversation. Food was good
I didn’t like sitting by the door it was cold 👎👎
Food had good flavor but needed to be hotter. Service was great! We will try it again!
Again friendly staff, great food .. celebrating my daughter’s birthday was perfect. Highly recommend.. the Poutini was Awesome !!
Beef Tenderloin was outstanding!
Food was delicious, especially any of the meat dishes. I maybe wouldn't recommend the antipasta wrap, but otherwise delicious. Ambiance is pretty good and service was good. Prices are fairly high, so be prepared.
Modern, great food, great service (especially Jessica O. ) If you are craving a good burger this is your place.
Was referred to Chow by a friend. Was not overly impressed. Food was good, but cold when it got to the table. Service was very poor, sat at the table for about 10 minutes before getting drink orders in, this continued throughout the night. Server may have been new.
With the open doors on the East end of the building there were a good amount of Flies in the building. I ordered the Salmon Salad and was pretty disappointed in it. Would not recommend it at all. The dressing tasted like straight up vinegar. I was only able to eat the little bit of Salmon on the salad. The rest of our table seemed to enjoy their meals.
The service was very slow. It took her 4 trips to bring us water, that was after waiting 20-30 minutes.
The food was good, but a little too spicy. The walleye was spicy, the dip was spicy, the rice pilaf was also too spicy.
Food was great , service was a bit slow.. but over all was great. Celebrated our daughters wedding anniversary .. will definitely be back
Just ok. just another mediocre restaraunt. This is a BBQ place that doesnt serve their BBQ until after 5? even on weekends?
Great food. Great service.
The booth we reserved was available immediately when we arrived. It looked like they had wine, but we were not shown a wine list. We sat for 10 minutes waiting for our order to be taken. The service was pleasant, the food was pretty good, our steaks were done correctly. We dodged flies the entire evening that came in through the patio. The dessert my wife ordered was not available. It wasn’t a horrible experience, but I probably will not go there again.
It was our first time there and we for the most part it was great. It was very noisy in the restaurant but we sat on the patio and it was lovely. Food was excellent; dessert was a disappointment (cassata cake was tough to chew; merengue was grainy and overly sweet). Our server was stressed and very busy. It took about 45 min to receive our food but the patio was so nice we didn’t mind
Great variety in menu selections. Group of 9 ordered all different and each dish was full of flavor and presented well. Worth it to make a visit or two.
My scallop pasta linguine was not cooked completely and had water/juice sitting in the bottom. I like my vegetables crisp, but these were not cooked. The scallops were the size of dimes and did not taste good. My husband ordered the full rack of ribs and they were very dry. The best part of the meal was the French fries. It is also not very pleasant to eat while watching traffic on Hwy 10. The outside seating should be in the back of the building, not the front and side where you can hear, see and smell the traffic.
Our first time and we were entertaining friends. We were a party of 6. Great beer selections as well as a vast menu. My wife ordered the Ribeye Steak, Medium Well. When our food came, her steak was rare to medium rare at best and cold to touch. Our waitress immediately ordered her a new steak. The 2nd one was perfect, but the time she got it, the rest of the party was done eating. Our server was awesome.
Our first visit was for our anniversary and to celebrate sending our youngest off to his freshman year of college. We will definitely be back. Great experience!
The food was horrible. I would never go back there again.
We had some issues with the food being very spicy, but things like this happen. Another customer could have loved the amount of spice, I just couldn't handle. Chow was willing to reduce our bill, although we didn't ask for this. In return, we tipped our waitress a very 'sizeable' tip. We will be back! 🙂
Great food, very good gluten free options and GF educated staff. Large portions, BBQ is top notch. Specialty drinks also good, smoked Manhattan is excellent.
Pizza and Chow burger were great. Open face beef was way over cooked or the bottom of the kettle. Otherwise we enjoy going to Chow.
Terrible service! 2 of the people in our party got their meals comped because of insufficient cooking.
We arrived at Chow at 630 - it was our anniversary and we did not have our children for the evening for the first time in 6 years. We were excited to try a great looking menu in a place we had never been - and enjoy our time together of course. We were seated immediately, it did not appear busy. Our server took awhile to come to greet us. No big deal, I am a restaurant General Manager and my husband is a sous chef - we totally get it! She took our drink order, it took a little while to return with my glass of wine and his coke - also no big deal, we get it. She took our appetizer order (bruschetta) and also our dinner order (ribs and the surf and turf). 20 minutes later my wine was gone, I ordered another glass. At 7:10 still no second glass of wine, no bruschetta - 40 minutes into our time there. No host or server was anywhere in sight to even inquire about what was going on. Frustrated, we put all the cash we had on us on the table (20$?) and left. We ended up at a sports bar, eating burgers for our anniversary dinner. Super disappointed, I don’t see why we would ever return.
Food was good quality much better than all chain restaurants. Fish & chips should have been more of a traditional beer batter rather than breading. Portions were good. When customers include children they should not play the rock music they had on.
Outstanding! Server was funny, attentive, and knew the menu. She was rewarded ( tip ) well.
