This was our first visit. It seemed as if regulars received better service/attention than us first timers. We were not made to feel welcome. We will not be back.

The food was excellent- I ordered a rare steak, which was cooked to perfection- my wife’s salmon was excellent.
Our only complaint was being seated at a cramped table near the door, which was breezy and cold when people entered or left.

Soupe À L'Oignon: served hot and nicely cheesy. Cuisse De Canard Confit Wellinglton: generous portion, maple vinaigrette too sweet for my taste. Soufflé Aux Champignons: very nice - our favorite that evening. Service outstanding.

My family and I have dined at Chou Chou several times in recent years now. This last occasion we had more interaction with the chef/owner. It would have been great if he had a welcoming and pleasant attitude throughout, however, he seemed to have mixed feelings about us. Being the first patrons of the evening he saw us seated yet ignored us. Later on he came by to take our orders but again wasn't friendly. He also did some serving yet seemed irritated that I intended to share my appetizer and had moved the dish to the middle of the table; thus, upon seeing what I did he spoke not a word but proceeded to hurriedly replace the dish to its original setting. Later on he did wish my husband birthday greetings yet didn't invite any staff to join him. I noticed that he was quite open and jolly to other patrons except if they were a certain race. I find it to be very unprofessional behavior for an establishment's owner.

As for the food, well, as usual it was all right yet not anything extraordinary. The same menu has been around for years now.

This is a great French restaurant. The food is excellent, the service is not rushed and overall the experience is a wonderful comfortable dinner. I especially liked that the tables were not crammed against each other and one could easily have a conversation while eating. I would recommend the escargot, the lamb chops and the Ile flottant.

Stumbled across this restaurant after seeing it in SF Restaurant Week. Thought their prix fix menu was ideal for my husband and I. Such a lovely, quaint, little place. Service was impeccable. Food was superb. Will be back again. AND their prix fix is available every day!

The bread and butter was the main reason why I wanted to go back. The mussels and the steak and the creme brulee was the Cherry on top. So happy to see they have the $40 dinner special year round.

The people working there were nice. Seemed like a family owned restaurant, not a normal one with a specific server, and such. The food tasted at most okay, and it got us sick. And the decor upstairs really made me cringe with the tape holding the large crack in the ceiling. The floor was uneven. And it felt greasy up there. I have always wanted to try the place passing forest hill station since I was a kid, but I was hugely disappointed.

I went with a friend for the restaurant week and the service was good. All the food are pretty good except for the steak which was over cooked and the value was not worth it.
