I don't think the Prix Fixed meal with house was worth $65. I was not in heaven with the food. You never know, the wine could've been 2 buck Chuck but nothing that was impressive. The mushrooms in my meal were canned. That was obvious. You can tell fresh from canned. I won't recommend or return here. The experience was disappointing.
The Tuxedo Bombe was terrific as was the rest of the meal. Even the vegetables were delicious. We went during SF Restaurant week, so the price was good for what we ate. I had to bring home some leftovers.
Great selection of delicious appetizers. We enjoyed the tuna carpaccio and bone marrow.
Mains were equally impressive. The duck confit Wellington was unique and delicious, the seared prawns with asparagus excellent. Deserts were just average. Overall, a memorable meal. Hoping to return to try more selections.
Rack of lamb was incredible and the mussels were so delicious
Great spot to try out during restaurant week. Love the ambience and great customer service. Warning: food is very rich but delicious! Fantastic desserts too.
We had a thoroughly delightful dinner from start to finish highly recommend this restaurant we go quite often
Relaxing and pleasant!
I had seen the restaurant on my way home and wondered if the food was good. I was just b gobsmacked by the the great service, food and ambiance. I wish I could go every day...the lamb was delicious!!
Great food and good service
Easy parking and staff was very friendly. The filet mignon was the best my wife has ever had and she orders it well done. I had a bite and it was tender and juicy. The pork cutlet was excellent and portions are ample. I will return.
Cute local bistro with a nice outdoor dining area in COVID times. Friendly service.
Had a great time and the “outdoor” dining was great. The service was amazing and overall really good. We tasted some wines prior to ordering a glass and the waiter was knowledgeable about the food. On the negative side, The background music was worse than elevator music and the both fries (served cold) and the cheeseburger (overcooked) could have been better.. All the other dishes (mussels, beef dish) were tasty and well prepared.
Would go again, but probably be more careful on what I ordered.
For Valentine’s it was great ! Big portions and yummy food. Great service
Excelente customer service, great vibe, food was great
This is one of my favorites restaurants in sf
Just love it
Lovely out door setting, very nice service and very tasty food!
Loved! Such a great outdoor space and the food was amazing.
Very happy to be there. The food was delicious and the service excellent.
II was a surprise dinner for a birthday for my friend. The surprise was that they didn’t know the price. Everything was excellent & we talked with the owners & complimented as to how every thing was. I big surprise was when they brought out a extra dessert with Happy Birthday lettered around the plate.
The staff was very accommodating & the service was great.
Our salad was so generous it could have been a meal by itself.
Service was very attentive. The patio is very small. The food was good but dint have the richness of flavors more bland than I expected.
Beautiful outdoor patio. One beef dish was overdone, another had a mistake and they had to re-do leading to delay. But overall was good.
They have set up a nice outdoor seating area on the side of the restaurant, and they've done a really nice job making it nice, with heat lamps, shades, and plants. We were the only ones dining in, but we saw a number of other people stopping by to pick up takeout. The food is rich as French food is, and the portions are quite large. This place is a great neighborhood spot and I hope people will support them during this time.
Great food, atmosphere and service! Authentic french. A delight, we'll be back.
Anniversary
Every time we eat at Chou Chou it's lovely and delicious. Last night we had salmon, prawns and the duck. Someone in our party always gets the onion soup. Our daughter always gets the creme brulee, and my husband and I shared the homemade cheesecake, which was divine. We're never disappointed, and always leave satisfied and full. Delish!!
The scallops and shrimp were cooked perfectly. French onion soup was heavenly. Service was excellent.
Wonderful atmosphere.
They now have a nice little outdoor area with heaters and it is enclosed. I had the pork chop and it was perfectly cooked with green beans and fries. My wife had the filet and again very well cooked. I would highly recommend this wonderful bistro.
We didn’t end up eating there. Left after half an hour without service. 15 mins to get the menus. Went there for Valentine’s Day. Super understaffed on such a big night. Space was also too tight. After 10 mins until we were seated (with reservation), 10 mins later we finally got menus (had to ask because the host forgot to give us upon seating), 30 mins altogether with a glass of water and the menus but no one to serve us. $95.99 prix-fixe menu per person, we were sure that our experience would not be a positive one with a pricey menu, we walked out.
Excellent food in a quiet environment where conversation is possible.
wonderful neighborhood spot with excellent food and terrific service. Thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Worst table in the house near the door and cold drafts, lengthy wait for service at all points in the dinner, ridiculous amount of staff dropping silverware off plates as though they hadn't been trained in clearing tables, poor attentiveness overall. Food was very good but I won't go back.
Chou Chou Bistro was a warm, comfortable, and delightful place to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday. The food met expectations and was tasty and beautiful. However, the waitress made the occasion extra special because of her service and sincerity.
The desserts were another highlight of the meal.
What a great find! Tried this during resturant week and will be going back. Fantastic food and service plus easy parking.
Can't beat the value of this place. The food is delightful and the prices are very, very reasonable. Everything my girlfriend and I had was delicious. We will definitely be back.
Excellent neighborhood place for excellent French cuisine at reasonable prices. Easy parking and friendly staff.
French onion soup is excellent!
Never disappoints! Excellent food & service! Will go again!
The service was excellent.
Hardly anyone in the restaurant during our dinner which started at 6pm.and finished around 715pm.
The food came out quickly. My French Onion soup was delicious, the salad was a bit boring.
My steak was cooked perfectly, but lacked tenderness and flavor. The bleu cheese sauce was underwhelming.
Overall the dinner was pleasant, but the food was a little disappointing.
We always have a wonderful dinner at this restaurant. Servers are so pleasant, and the food is awesome. I had the shrimp this time, my daughter had the salmon, and my husband had beef. Their desserts are excellent also.
Pleasant afternoon
No problems
Delicious food, although menus was a bit red meat heavy. Good wine list and friendly service. Brought back good memories of being in a Paris Bistro.
