Excellent service and food! Loved it Will go back for sure!
My husband and I shared the gyu grilled skewers, gyoza, bacon mochi, and japonica roll. I had a flight of sake and he had a cocktail. The food was interesting and excellent! All dishes came with a little pile of hot spices on the plate, which could be used to fire things up a bit if you like. We didn't find it necessary as we found the flavors perfect for our taste. Very attractive place and really nice to be able to walk across the street from our hotel, the Cow Hollow. Will definitely return.
I love this restaurant, I've been coming here since it opened and the quality has remained high. The spicy ramen and bacon mochi are a must but I haven't had one bad thing on that menu and I've tried most of it.
Love Chotto. Super tasty, reliable neighborhood joint for stellar ramen (only two types/styles, but when they're this solid you don't need more - I dig the miso-based broth with lots of fixins the standout of which is the smoky, perfectly grilled piece of pork/belly), innovative sushi and rolls.
Fabulous as always. This has become one of my favorite dining spots in the city.
Appetizers were divine, we had the bacon mochi, agedashi tofu, and the gyoza. The gyoza was probably my favorite. On the other hand, the ramen was just average. They ran out of pork and kim chi at 7pm. The broth itself was not mindblowing or anything, but it was still decent.
Nice izakaya, a few dishes are hit and miss.
Superb any day of the week. You can’t go wrong. Entire menu is 100% top-notch. Great sake selection too.
Went to Chotto with a big group of friends who were visiting from out of town and everyone was so impressed with the food and the atmosphere. Over conversation a lot was said about the incredible scene in San Francisco!
Food is always consistent and service is awesome. Been going there for a few years now and its still wonderful.
Loved the steak! Brussels sprouts and Tuna rol and Ramen were great! Desert with fried banana phenomenal! Brought a bottle of wine and didn’t get charged for a fee. Really nice!
The server was not very attentive and our food came out late. We were already paying the bill when our last dish came out. They also did not offer anything for this poor service.
Birthday Dinner, brought new people to one of our favorite spots, always enjoyable!
Been enjoying this restaurant for 5 years but this last experience was not great. We usually order the Uni risotto which we love but this time it had no flavor . Very Bland. I ordered the spinach and green beans appetizer. Both greens were ice cold that tasted like frozen.
We were sitting on the banquet. The fabric seats were very soiled and stained. I have to say we are totally disappointed with flavorless dinner this time. Will not be back.
The food is awesome! Pork cheeks and ramen were outstanding. The drinks are good. Sushi is fresh. Wait staff were not rude but inattentive. Would come again for the food, but probably only when sitting at the sushi bar where you can get quick service.
Our family enjoyed a great time, wonderful food and service.
Food was good. Restaurant is very noisy and it is difficult to have a conversation. Menu had changed as compared to photos of food on other review sites but there was still a lot to choose from. Slight mix of authentic Japanese food and fusion entrees. Would recommend.
Parking available nearby at two pay lots or on street (limited). Neighborhood is lively. Popular restaurant - reservations are recommended.
Chotto was awesome. There was 6 of us and we had a great table! We ordered several dishes but the Butterfish was simply amazing. The rolls were really good too, light and bright and not laden with mayo sauces like you see at other places. Wine options were good too! We will absolutely be putting this on our list of favs and visiting again soon!
Bacon mochi is a must! Loved the hamachi crudo and would definitely order again. The skirt steak was AMAZING! So much flavor and cooked perfectly.
The bacon wrapped mochi and spicy ramen were amazing. Service could be improved - our server was very nice and attentive but she forgot one of our orders despite having repeated it back to us what we ordered.
Ambiance was very nice - not too dark and not too lit.
The Brussels sprouts were not good. Overall, the food was okay, not the best.
Fan-freakin'-tastic as usual. Paradise is butterfish crudo every night with a shochu cocktail.
I love the food here. Everything, but the 3 times I have come the service is really slow and the bathrooms are dirty.
The thing with small plates is you often need things, and so waiting around is hard when you are hungry!
BUT...every time I have come the servers are polite and that is worth the slowness...but a little more attention and communication about the plates would make it perfect!
everything is good, but definitely try the bacon-wrapped mochi.
also great service :)
Great food. I always try something new and end up loving it.
Amazing food! Love the bacon mochi and hamachi
The ramen was excellent, as was the poke. The service was top notch -- friendly without being overbearing. It was quiet enough to have good conversation. The ramen is sipcy in a good way. The poke was extremely fresh and well sauced.
Great food, especially the bacon mochi. Only things not worth it are the calamari.
Good cocktails and great plum wine.
We made a reservation for 4 the day of and when we arrived they gave us a secluded back booth, which we loved! We had our own area and private curtain which made for a special experience. The waitstaff immediately let us know they only had one server that night for the entire restaurant, and the place was full. The staff still provided excellent service and even threw in a couple extra dishes. We did not feel neglected at all! The food was also delicious - my favorites being the sashimi options. Definitely our new neighborhood favorite and our family from out of town loved it too! Price point isn't too bad either - more affordable then another sushi place we love.
Trekked across town via Muni for the butterfish. Only my second time at Chotto but the staff is so cool, the shochu cocktails so pleasingly buzzy, and the sashimi so melt-in-your-mouth that this is my new favorite Japanese restaurant. And on both visits I've marveled at the relatively reasonable prices for the quality of food and overall experience. Looking forward to my next meal here.
Great fusion menu with amazing variety of things to try. Definitely the kind of place you want to come back to so you can try more of the outlandish things they have on the menu. And the bacon mochi is a must, obviously.
This is my second visit to Chotto. The food is absolutely delicious as well as the drinks. Service was a bit lacking on this visit, but was excellent the time prior.
Amazing! Delicious Japanese menu. I could have the butterfish sashimi every day of my life. Very welcoming. Great low alcohol cocktails, too.
This is a place we go very often, sometimes ordering the same dishes... Great flavors and a great variety.
Really nice food and very imaginative. Both times we visited we tried different dishes and they were all superb. Definitely would visit again.
Cool place, good food with a lot of creativity. Service could be improved but really good overall.
All the food was very good and our waiter was especially charming. We appreciated his attentiveness.
Excellent food, beautifully presented. Terrible service, overall lazy impression of service personnel.
Could be a true gem if they improved the service.
The food and service were outstanding. My companion ordered a second glass of wine, and mine was going to be empty soon - I had not decided whether to order a second. The waiter, unsolicited, refilled my glass and said "Oh I just want to be fair." To me, that means he's getting a great tip for giving me a free glass. But it was on the bill! I did not order it and got charged for it! Again, the food was amazing and the bill was still reasonable, but that really left a bad impression!
This was my first time at Chotto, The ambience was wonderful, the food was very tasty, and the service was perfect. I love small plates so it was fun to try a variety of things. My only disappointment was that several dishes that were on the website menu were not on the current menu, and some of the missing dishes were a driver in our decision to dine there. Having said that I will go back, Chotto has a lot of endearing qualities!
