Chophouse 305 Ratings and Reviews
I should've known it would be horrible when I went and we were the only people there. the chophouse salad I ordered was missing corn and egg. I realized this after 3 bites, mentioned to waiter and he brought me a hard boiled egg and told me they had no corn. So for a "high end" restaurant, he should've told me this when I ordered or at least discount my expensive $15 salad that only comprised of lettuce and tomatoes. The tuna my husband ordered was bland.
We were utterly disappointed and would not ever return. Bad food and most of all horrible service. The manager is not fit to work on a restaurant but in a cargo ship engine room. Overal bad experience. With so many good options in miami, this is one to be avoided.
Location: Chop House is located just a few blocks south of the Port of Miami, American Airlines Arena, Bayside MarketPlace, and Bayfront Park. Being close to major entertainment and shopping venues is great, and what makes it even better is there is a patio with tables facing the Bay to enable restaurant guests to view the yachts passing by.
Service: The service was good, but it was a little bit slow. I am going to say it was probably just because we were the first diners the day we were there, and it is possible they did not have the kitchen completely ready or they were making every dish fresh. It probably took about 1 1/2 hours to verify we could use a gift certificate, order, eat our appetizers and entrees, and pay. Seriously though - When all you're after is a great lunch or nice dinner out, there shouldn't be a need to rush.
Food: Chop House offers a wide variety of food options - from pasta to seafood to chicken and beef. We tried the strip steak, fettucini alfredo, macaroni and cheese, ahi tuna, crab cakes, and Chilean sea bass - the best I've ever tasted in my life. Every dish was fresh, well-prepared, and tasted great. Anyone who dines here will be able to tell the quality from the first bite.
Prices are pretty reasonable - considering the location right on the Bay.
Overall: I would recommend this restaurant, but I would suggest being prepared to spend a good amount of time at the restaurant. This is a reasonably priced fine dining option in the heart of the Port of Miami area.
We had made a reservation for Sunday brunch but arrived and they were closed,a gentleman came after us And explained they had some kitchen problems and to come back, rather than come back that day we just changed the the day.its location is spectacular just by the waterfront so very romantic.the service was good too. Food came out fairly slow but it was just ok..I assumed this gentleman was the owner he was quite nice and always asking us if we were good and had such a great disposition .i had steak and penne(med/rare) it was a strange pairing I thought ,but why not try it.it would have been really good if it were hotter(heat).i also had a watermelon mojito yummy, my husband had sliders he wasn't very hungry at the time and said they were good too..when we go back to Miami we will try it again hopefully everything is up and running a little smoother and there kitchen problems will be fixed ..always a second chance
Me and my friend were planning a birthday brunch. We called to see what would be going on so we're prepared. They told us unlimited mimosas for 15$ and a Dj would be there . So the day of our brunch we arrive at chophouse and there's no valet ... Apparently they no longer have a contract with the valet thats right in front of their restaurant, so my family and friends had to park 4 or more blocks away paying 5$ every half hour for parking because on a Sunday not every parking is open. When we got there no one but Us was there not Dj and no unlimited mimosas ... We explained to the manager this wasn't our expectations and how can they accommodate us so we had 20 individuals with us. He gave us 20$ unlimited mimosas after constantly asking. They said a Dj would be there late . Our food was brought out cold, however it taste really good.... Lol. The shrimp and grits the grits were a bit stiff...the mimosas came out slow ,but it seemed like the servers were doing the best they can or maybe the fact we were a big party at once was hard to handle . Overall not the best. Unsure what happened to the ambiance they talked it up to be . Oh ya and a DJ never came 😩😩
I live nearby and used to eat here on a rare occasion but I so over it. The managers are just completely out of touch with running a restaurant and do not understand the first thing about customer service. Food is not bad at all but the slow service and consistently poor attitude of the managers are what will never make me return.
I dined here on a recent trip to Miami and wanted a place close to my hotel. I dined outside on a Monday night. The food was bland overall and overpriced. I started with the onion soup that lacked flavor minus the cheese on top. A waste of $9. I chose the grouper for my main entree that seemed like pieces of fish and not actually a whole filet that I'm used to. It was lightly fried, something else I wasn't anticipating and it was served over a mound of salty mashed potatoes and some sort of salty mushroom mixture. While the mushrooms and potatoes were good, they were entirely too salty and overpowered the fish. I had a few bites of fish until I got one that didn't taste very fresh. Last, I ordered the dulce de leche gelato for dessert for $9. Again, a waste of money. It was the furthest thing from gelato and had pieces of ice in it. Overall a very disappointing and expensive meal.
For the 5 star price the food should have been better then ok. There was no consistency. Some plates where overly seasoned while some where not. They had no choices for children and the service was so slow for only having 3 groups dinning in the whole restaurant. At one point I had to ask someone to find my waitress to find out where my appitizer was. This was 45 minuets after ordering. Ten minuets later I had my appitizer along with my party's food. The manager was so busy socializing with the people sitting at the bar he never realized what a poor job our server was doing, even with out comments and our asking another server for drinks and such. Also there was 5 people who at and a 6 year old who shared my food and they still charged us 18% gratuity. My advice is go to McDonald's and save your money.
This was one of the best upscale but not to upscale restaurants I've ever been to. I was surprised with the prices on the menu, for a place like this you would think the prices were high but the menu was good and the food was conveniently priced for any walk of life, and my server was awesome. I will most definitely be visiting again.
Visited this restaurant during Miami Spice. We sat inside preferring a/c to the street-side terrace, which was more popular. But the a/c was not working well, and it got warmer inside the longer we stayed. The menu and food were quite good, but service was slow even though we were one of only 2 or 3 tables occupied. If you go, sit outside.
On our recent visit to Miami, we wanted to have someplace within close walking distance to the Intercontinental Hotel where we were staying. We chose the ChopHouse because it had a nice fish menu (across the Street was Wolfgang Puck's restaurant)..we chose poorly! The food was not of good quality. The service was also not up too par. Sadly, we should have visited Wolfgang's instead.
There was a pre-set menu but wasn't bothered by it, Our table was already served with water which had clearly been sitting there as the ice had already melted. There were two sets of menus one of which belonged to another larger party which had our server preoccupied. Our table was not served bread but other tables had baskets of warm bread. Furthermore the prime rib my date ordered was that was very dry served without Au Jus or horseradish was very dry and bland. My fillet mignon was great but that is the only thing that came out well. I was overall disappointed in my experience and would not recommend this restaurant. It was certainly not worth the $200+ I paid for this meal.
We were visiting the Miami area for Valentines day and decided to go to this restaurant. The service was slow, we ordered wine which we didn't receive until after we were done with the appetizer course, our water glasses were empty for several minutes before being refilled and the servers didn't seem to know what tables ordered which dishes, they walked aimlessly around the 12 tables in our section. The seating and table looked like cheap patio furniture, it was uncomfortable and not very sturdy. We will never return.
The restaurant was very swanky looking but has room for improvement. The french onion soup was delicious but the entree didn't match in quality. The tandoori chicken kabobs were VERY dry...I barely ate any of it. The dessert was also delicious. The service when arriving to restaurant was not very attentive. The waiter could also have been a little more helpful. The guys running the valet service seemed to not speak English very well. They watched me opposite way when they could have let me know where the entrance to restaurant is. In general the service was not very attending. I don't mind paying the price for great food, but when the food is average and the service is not up to par, it is definitely not worth the price tag.
We went for new Years Eve not knowing it was a 'fixed menu'. We were not all that hungry (5 courses) so we were going to leave. The team let us eat off the regular menu and we sat at the bar, perfect resolution .Monika waited on us and she was as delightful and attentive as could be!! We were so impressed with how we were treated that after the concert we went back to enjoy the bar and the rest of New Years Eve there..... Thanks to all for accommodating us!!! We will come back for sure as well as tell our story about how great the service was.
We had dinner on New Years Eve and were very surprised to see that there was a set menu even if we got the information by e mail that there would n o t be a set menu. The service and food was good though but the evening turned out to be all too expensive compared to what we expected since we had already pre-checked the regular menu and made our choices.
Steak not properly cooked. While they offered an adjustment who wants a slightly cheaper but overcooked steak to eat. Very dissapointed. Not the same quality at all as the two previous times I had eaten there over a year ago. Service was courteous and prompt but not knowledgeable about food or menu. And really seemed to be just going through the motions.
I have been to this location a total of three times, once as Manny's Chophouse, once as Miami Chophouse, and just recently as the Chophouse Miami Bistro. I have noticed the food decline each time. As Manny's and Miami Chophouse I enjoyed the food of an upscale american steakhouse but I dont know how to describe the Bistro's food. I did not get american steakhouse from the way the food was prepared and needless to say, the food was underwhelming. Additionally, the valet was in his car as we pulled into the lot. He did not approach the car. I had to approach him and ask if I could receive valet. I selected the restaurant for my birthday because I remembered the Manny's of old but I will not return.
I had a reservation of six(6) including my boss. The food was so salty (it appeared salt was dropped into the food). I thought it was perhaps my taste buds, but everyone at my lunch table seemed to notice as well as mention to the waiter who did absolutely nothing about it as if he is far too use to that complaint.
Thanks to the ChopHouse National Boss Day was the wrong choice...(smh)
Not to mention valet parking is a joke! There is a sign pointing towards a parking area for the ChopHouse. Turns out, this is where the valet attendant parks your car. Once we were situated to turning the car around, the valet attendant stopped us and asked for the keys. All he did was park the car right in front of the space where we stopped.
This was our first time at Chophouse , I was very worrid after reading bad reviews at Yelp. I have to say that the place is very nice, the atmosfere serene and the food was very good. The chop lunch box for $19 it's a great deal !
The bad and I have to say it , was that the food took a life to be served, the place was almost empty, it was around 2pm on a weekday, and we order regular and simple choices, a Caesar salad, a burguer and the box lunch.
We were on a business lunch and I felt very uncomfortable with my guests that a simple lunch took so long.
King crab legs where very bad... Died out and cold had to send them back. Two steaks were over cooked. One med-rare was well done... We sent it back to only get a rare steak... Buy this time everyone else in the party of 5 was done eating... I wouldn't go back or recommend. Be to a couple other Chophouse in other cities that were great this one wasn't.
NY strip steak was a small nondescript cut, expected at Longhorn or Outback, but, not at a Prime Steakhouse this restaurant is purported to be. Very disappointing, as was the waiter, who was unfamiliar with the appropriate temperature appellations, mandatory knowledge for a server at a prime steakhouse. We also saw him rarely and felt unattended.
We were fairly dissapointed with this restaurant. We thought that two steaks with two sides and no drinks at $138 was just not worth it. The food was great however the server's lack of command of English not only made him hard to understand but also caused him to not be able to answer our questions. We ended up spending an additional $24 on side dishes that we did not need as a result. Thec servern was very attentive and seemed very nice but that communication issue just knocked the wind out of the sails for us!!
