Service was very poor, we had to wait 10 minutes before getting a menu and water. We had to ask for the menu in the end. Then we had to ask if we could order. The food was average, nothing special. We had to wait a long time for the main. Staff said it was because they were under staffed, if this was the case you shouldn’t be able to book the table. One of the waiters looked awful, came across as if he didn’t want to be there. His appearance was bad and scruffy. The couple on the table next to us said he looked like he was going to kill someone, they had the same experience as us. I wouldn’t go back.
The food was nice but the service wasn’t excellent.
Lovely food, service getting there but welcome great.
Outstanding food, very nice place to eat !
The food was lovely however there were slight issues. The truffle vernalise had no truffle in it. The Mac and cheese was bland and the baby chicken although delicious, didn’t seem to fit the establishment. There’s no way you could eat it with and knife and fork and my partner didn’t feel comfortable picking it up with her hands and sucking the meat from the bone in such a high end fancy restaurant. My steak was delicious even if it was slightly over cooked. The wine was fantastic and so were the staff. I just think there was an air of laziness on the kitchen staffs part.
My partner had been wanting to try Chophaus for a while so we decided to go for a Sunday afternoon there for some food and drinks, even though it’s an hour drive from us
The place is set back from the road in a very good looking building that stands out from the crowd
We were booked in at 1630 but arrived early as we wanted to see if we could possibly have a couple of drinks first
After a very warm welcome, we got told it was no problem at all to move out booking forward and were sat down before being seen to order
Everyone one of the staff were very happy to speak to, talk with and couldn’t have been more helpful. Also, all were dressed immaculately
Drinks came and they were top tier, this can also be said for the food as well.
Nothing but good things to say about this place and will be coming back for sure without a doubt
Thanks for having us
Absolutely amazing Sunday dinner, lovely setting and excellent service.
We dined here on a Friday night and ordered two starters and two main meals. For starters we ordered 1x Sauteed Prawns and 1x Grilled Scallops. Both were £12.50 each. When the starters arrived, the prawn dish was 5 big juicy prawns which were very tasty, the scallop dish was one medium sized scallop. Yes, one scallop. Which was luke warm at best and tasted of nothing. The garnish accompanying it was practically non existent. We decided not to spoil our meal by complaining at the time and to leave it till the end of the meal, but as the menu stated "scallops" (pleural) its not unreasonable to expect at least two!
For mains we ordered a fillet steak and a ribeye steak. Both were £32 each. The ribeye was a grisley which ribeye can be, but nicely cooked, tender and tasty. The fillet was a good size nicely cooked but absolutely no flavour whatsoever. Not what you expect from a restaurant that specialises in steak.
The staff were pleasant enough and attentive but clearly new in post/in training and by the end of our meal we just wanted to leave.
We paid £132 (including the 10% service charge automatically added) for a sub-standard meal comprising of 2 starters and 2 mains, one soft drink, a bottle of water and a gin and tonic. Not good value for money and we would not recommend.
Best Sunday lunch we’ve had in a long time and the outdoor seating area was lovely! Really beautiful setting and restaurant
Very expensive for a substandard restaurant food is expensive than upmarket places. Food presentation very poor particularly cutting up the steak and it was cold by the time it was served.
It feels a bit style over substance. On the face of it. It’s a great venue and beautiful building and the menu looked really interesting.
Service was a bit sporadic, we had to wait 25 mins for the nibbles we ordered at a time when there were probably only another 4 tables sat down.
The food was ok but have had much better at that price range. Medium rare rib eye steak was cooked right through so looked more done than medium. I tried some of the small plates. The cauliflower was really claggy, the batter round it and the sauce were as if from a cheap Chinese takeaway, not light tempura as you expect from Japanese food. The steak tartare was really bland lacking any seasoning. It is something I enjoy so will always try at a restaurant just as a ‘standard’. This was one of the worst. My wife had the halibut on noodles, but there Disney seem to be any noodles.
I was really looking forward to it and had seen the news menu on Instagram etc, so really disappointed. Lots of competition I. Leeds now at similar / cheaper price points with more attentive service and better service ex cured food.
This was our first time at chophaus to be fair the place is lovely food was nice however very expensive especially when you have to add chips to your steak which already cost £32 deserts are a rip off I ordered churros £7.50 and was only 2 the bill come to £185 which I think was very expensive for 2 cocktails 2 fillet steaks 1 dessert and a bottle of wine we won’t be returning unless the prices go down
Excellent, brilliant service, will definitely go back!
New menu and new staff following Covid. Food was very good, one item wasn’t cooked right and was re-cooked perfectly and then given half price. So all in all very pleased, I do feel the pricing is out by about 10-15%. If the pricing was brought in line I think it would be a really top restaurant to visit for all special occasions or if you want to spoil yourself but as it is I think it will be an extremely rare place to visit.
Food was incredible, steak was one of the best I've ever had, cooked exactly as requested! Recommend.
The Sunday Roasts Beef and Lamb were very fatty and tough to chew. Also they were served cold as were the vegetables. I will not choose a Sunday Lunch dining option there again.
The restaurant is lovely. The staff were great, very friendly and attentive without being overbearing.
The food was lovely. My partners steak was cooked to perfection.
We will definitely be coming back
We celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary here. Everything was good,if a little pricey.
Me and my husband came to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had such a fab time. Food was sooooo lovely and the place was just exactly what we wanted.
We will definitely be back 😊
Really good food. Lovely atmosphere. Definitely recommend.
Enjoyable relaxed restaurant, delicious food. Architecture of the building adds to your dining experience
A great steak house with a lovely views of Oakwood and Roundhay. Servers are always accommodating and polite, they make sure that people are comfortable and have everything they need.
The food is excellent and the cocktails and made to a very high standard.
No complaints and we’ve been a handful of times.
Good food, good service and nice atmosphere.
Food, ambience and service were great. A lovely evening
Food was very poor for the prices they charge, we excepted a lot more in quality & quantity, Steak had a weird texture like it was frozen and chicken really is a baby chicken more tiny bones than meat served like wings with less meat, I’d say more a starter than a main as everything has to be bought separately, chips, salad, veg, sauces etc
Staff were friendly but we were not given the choice to tip as it is already added to the bill to the value of 10%
Ambience is nice even though we were next to a busy main road and large public park.
Overall nice building in a nice area of Leeds but restaurant inside overpriced for the quality & quantity of the food, sadly bit of a let down.
This was our 1st visit to Chopaus & we were very impressed
The service was great we celebrated my sons 18th birthday, all the staff were very accommodating
The food was delicious & there is an
extensive wine list
We would highly recommend & we will be back
5 Stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great restaurant - lucky to have it locally - staff friendly and food excellent
Great night but awkward seating upstairs outdoors with another couple not socially distanced
As soon as the gov announced the re-opening of restaurants I booked Chophaus for our anniversary meal. I couldn't wait to go. I had been before and really enjoyed the occasion and food. Our booking was for early July - first weekend I could get a booking. We ordered Mojitos when seated and they were perfect! Both of us ordered tenderloin 220g with a portion of each type of fries and a salad to share. When the food arrived the waiter quickly checked the plates and then placed them in front of us. I looked at my steak in dismay - tiny! Barely a child's portion! My husband's steak on the other hand was as I expected (and as per my experience previously). I was really quite miffed as at £32 it is not cheap. I wanted to complain but it was a special evening, I had looked forward so much to the occasion, and my husband really hates it if I make any sort of fuss. I put up and shut up! The steak was delicious and perfectly cooked to order. The fries and salad were just ok - I've had a lot better in much less expensive French bistros. Same with the Béarnaise sauce - just ok - it tasted like shop bought mayo with tarragon. We ordered a Malbec from the cheaper end of the menu. It was fine. I asked for tap water and was given bottled water. No desserts. The bill at £134 incl service for two was not cheap but had it been perfect then I would have been very happy to pay it for a special occasion. I went home underwhelmed and ate a Magnum ice cream as I was still a bit peckish. The ambience is great, gorgeous location, service was fine but really a special night was spoiled by a feeling of being fleeced. I was planning to book for a post-pandemic family reunion but if some of my family were presented with such a minuscule offering, they would be outraged. I mulled over posting this review as I don't like to be mean but I thought it would be helpful for customers like me who aren't loaded and who want to splash out but want the whole experience to live up to expectations.
Excellent service. We were assisted and served by Roberta which suggested me a nice cocktail meeting my expectations.
Really good wine list and the Chateaubriand steak with peppercorn and barnaise sauces was the KING of the dinner ✨✨.
Definitely is worth a visit again 👍🏼
Great welcome by friendly helpful staff..We asked to move tables which was fine and we found that much better. Drinks service efficient and helpful and meal arrived promptly which was great. The beef was excellent and lots of veg which was ideal. We’ll be back.
Went for a Sunday roast here as had enjoyed previous meals here. Not as big a selection as we had hoped but still enjoyed it. Staff were extremely helpful and attentive.
Lovely restaurant in a great location. Impressive on the eye, wonderfully welcoming with fantastic atmosphere. Helpful and enthusiastic staff from start to finish. The steaks were superb and cooked to perfection. Decent wines were a bit pricey but in the scheme of things, it didn’t matter in this occasion! Will definitely return. Well done everyone.
Came here for my wife’s birthday. The food was absolutely amazing. Shame the service let it down. We had to keep asking for a drink and even the dessert menu. Nobody looked after us all night and we even had to ask for our plates to be taken. Lots of waiters and waitresses just walking by, it was like we was invisible. The waitress at the end who we explained this to was so lovely, I wish I got her name. We was not paying the service charge when the service was abysmal. The waiter who initially came to us was so rude. Everything else was great and my wife enjoyed her birthday just a shame the service was poor.
Overall it was a ok meal but wouldn’t go back again as I didn’t rate the food.
Service was pretty poor.
Was shown to are table with no drink menu and took 15mins for someone to come to us.
Expected so much more .
another fabulous meal it Choo Haus with friends. Amazing food and service. Perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon and evening.
Best meat in Leeds so far really quality in the piece
We had a variety of steaks from Flat iron to fillet to sirloin to tomahawk. All of them were delicious. Service was good considering how busy the restaurant was. They kindly showed us the steaks which was nice. We will certainly be back.
First time visiting here. Lovely welcome and nice drinks in the bar before being seated for our meal. We were not rushed which was great. Food choices quite limited, not a huge menu but i think the choices change based on specials and what is available.
Some of our party had the tiger chilli/garlic prawns which were nice but there was no oil or anything to accompany them so the toasted bread didn't work as no juices to mop up - dry prawns and dry bread isn't a great combination?! We shared 3 x Chateaubriands between 6 of us and a variety of sides. All of the steaks were cooked to perfection and the quality of the steak was really good.
Disappointed in the dessert menu, again not much choice and also just not very exciting - had a cheesecake cream thing which was a kind of deconstructed cheesecake but with a random bright blue tiny meringue which tasted of garlic which was not pleasant at all.
Overall was a nice dining experience, nice buzz in the restaurant and would return. It is expensive, not just for the mains but all sides have to be ordered as there are no accompaniments at all - so not a place to go if you are watching your pennies.
10 of us went for Father’s Day the food and staff was great thank you.
