Chop Shop Ratings and Reviews
Chop Shop does an excellent job merging traditional Asian dishes with unexpected ingredients to create mouth-watering meals in reasonable portions, while not pushing the envelope on price.
Dedicated to what they do best, their menu is brief and maximizes quality on all the dishes it offers. I highly recommend their salmon fried rice and spicy drunken noodle.
The atmosphere is cozy with a narrow layout akin to a back alley, and in the rear there is a small, enclosed garden that makes for very pleasant outdoor seating away from the street. With that "coziness" comes limited space, however, so be sure to get a reservation if you plan to go during peak hours. Luckily, they're on OpenTable.
Service is prompt, capable and friendly, if not on the quiet side. The minimalistic decor seems to match the taciturn staff, but in my opinion this is a positive trait. Chop Shop isn't loud or boisterous; it's just as a great spot for a delicious meal. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking tasty Asian in Chelsea.
Small menu selection. Not enough seafood options. Portions are on the small side. Noodles were salty. The atmosphere was clean, casual and cozy. The service was ok, but we felt a bit rushed to pay our bill, even though the restaurant was almost empty with only 2 other tables occupied.
Walk in and welcome home! This looks to be an owner-operated establishment with amazing food and service. The food was delivered swiftly and in abundance. The flavors tempted the palate in many directions - even for the two teens in the group who devoured the pork buns. We would definitely dine again!!
Tried this place because it is one of the rare listings on OpenTable that is recommended by 100% of the reviewers. Glad we did because it is a great neighborhood go-to for Chinese/pan-Asian comfort food (if you call braised pork belly buns and spicy drunken noodles as part of your everyday diet) and a laid-back neighborhood-y vibe. Go to the backyard open air area for a more relaxed and quiet table.
Tasty pan asian food. Dishes don't feel either forced or generic. Great for a change of pace from more standard Chinese fare. Casual vibe that feels contemporary. Convivial sound all around but not so loud so that you can't hear yourself or have a conversation. Will happily go back again.
love this place..it is my go to place for out of town visitors. The menu NEVER changes yet
I am always satisfied with the menu without any changes. I love many of the dishes. I would love to see them add new dishes at least once a week to expand the menu a little but I love the beef dish, the fish dish, good pad thai, good dumplings...pretty much anything is satisfying.
I would recommend however not ordering take out. It does not taste as great after sitting in the containers as it does freshly made.
A modern, casual environment with an upbeat atmosphere in the proximity of Chelsea gallery hopping and Whitney museum. Not in the heart of the hyper trendy noisy Meatpacking blocks makes it even more attractive. For appetizers, salt and pepper shrimp, summer roll and chop shop slaw are absolute winners. Curry chicken is good. Sesame noodles needs work, Kung pao chicken is mediocre. Lychee cocktail is delightful.
Highly recommend for a nice dining out with friends or family before or after some art activity.
Chop Shop was close to where we were going to be later so we took a chance and double wow are we glad we did! Everything was good! I love summer rolls and the lettuce was so fresh and crisp it might have just come from the garden ...
If we're ever down that way again, we'll definitely make a stop at the Chop Shop! (Hell, we might even just go there with no other destination in mind.)
