Chop Shop Ratings and Reviews
I liked the Chop Shop. The food was great. I highly recommend the butcher’s board as a starter. The space is beautiful and edgy. And the service was efficient (the right dishes came on time etc). There was something off about our server (overwhelmed? still learning? attitude? I could not figure it out) but I want to believe this was an one off thing. I am going back.
Husband had the rib eye special and he really enjoyed it. I had the gnocchi without the brussel sprouts which was very flavorful with the heirloom tomatoes and pecorino. Our waiter was very attentive and ready with suggestions. the Manhattan's were nothing special and the rose wine a little drier than I'd like, but that wasnt their fault. Noise level wasn't too bad initially, but the band's were doing sound checks and I imagine it would get loud later in dining area. Overall a fine experience - would probably return if in the area.
Went in the for a special date night with my wife. Had the buratta and split the steak. One of the best steaks I've had in the city. Simply amazing. The buratta was great too. We liked it so much that we came back two days later when my parents were in town and also had amazing food (Sunday Brunch type food).
First time visiting Chop Shop for brunch, we normally only stop by for dinner. I must say I was surprised with the food - wasn't up to the standard I have built from their dinner. Portions were small and for $16 for a benedict, i expected more. The waitress was also tasked with a huge section all on her own so we waited for coffee and water refills a couple of times. I still love this place, but I might reconsider their brunch and stick to their dinner and deli!
The food and cocktails were outstanding! Service was good in the beginning of our dining experience but once our food came out our waitress disappeared for at least 45 minutes. We had intended on ordering another cocktail and even dessert but she was no where to be seen. Once she did show up again we had been done eating for about 20 minutes and left without getting another dessert or cocktail. I would love to give this place another shot given the food was so good but I hope our service is much better.
This places seems like it's going downhill. Our server was very cold and rarely checked in with us. We didn't have any knives to eat our food and to cut my steak I had to use a butter knife. Not easy. We wanted to order more food & drinks but our server came back with the check before even asking. Felt like we were being pushed out. Not good.
The chicken saltimbocca was fair and came with....nothing else. Lots of chicken, pretty bland and a sprig of overcooked green something. Would not order again. Perhaps a burger would have been a better choice. Receptionist could not give any information on parking when I called. I guess it is nothing more than a neighborhood bar.
I booked a reservation for a group of 10 friends and family for a special occasion. Everyone was out of town and this was our big meal together in the area. Dinner started off with cocktails which were fantastic. We got the ala-carte charcuterie plate, crab cake, hummus and steak tartar. When ordering the charcuterie plate, 4 of our selections were not available. Most of the table got the Butcher Burger and feedback on entrees were that they were all very good. As the meal progressed, we also found a few drink selections to be unavailable. I spoke to the manager, Neil, about the availability issues we were facing and he went out of his way to make the night memorable and special. Overall, it was a great experience.
Chop Shop brunch is delivering some impressive value! Big beautiful salads, simple cocktails under $10, and huge entrees. I got the Dirty Brown with juicy porchetta strands covered in a stimulating spicy gravy on top of a large croissant. I don't think I needed to eat again for most of the day. Fun space and fun menu.
