Nobody ever seated me for a table
It was good
Limited menu choices
Decided to eat at Chop Shop before seeing the band Start Making Sense. Food was very tasty and had a veggie and turkey burger. The start prosciutto wrapped burrata was delicious. It was a great experience along with one of my favorite concerts. Will go back again
Good as usual but we were there. Hostess said she could not find reservation but seated us anyway. This same exact scenario happened the last two times we were there.
Has lost its charm. Basically just a bar now with overpriced and over seasoned meats. Probably fine if you are looking for drinks but don’t go here for dinning anymore.
The food was surprisingly yummy. We hadn't planned on eating a full dinner, as we were there for a concert, but so glad we did! The chicken burger was FIRE (as in, really good and really spicy), and the pork belly and mashed potatoes were on point. Very cool place - butcher, bar, restaurant and music venue all in one! Will def be back!
Really cool space, great friendly service, and the food was delicious. Have never had skirt steak so tender. Also love that they have a separate space for live music and Monday night bocce ball!
Hangar steak and frites was very good! Loved the broccoli and corn side dishes (only enough for 2 people though, should have ordered 2 each since there were 4 of us). Pear appetizer was also good, but should be served with more bread. Drink menu is ok. Overall, very good and I’d go again,
Nice place for casual dining prior to attending events in the Chop Shop's music venue. Wait staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Great for groups. When I called to shift the time by 30 min, very accomodating. Huge portions - split the short ribs with a friend and both of us had trouble finishing the full slab of meat. Broccoli side dish with aioli & panchetta was an amazing blend of flavors. At one point, the music was turned on very loudly. When we asked to turn it down a bit, they were very accomodating.
Will definitely be back!
Nice place for late lunch. Excellent food, great service
I love Chop Shop! There is one hostess who is always working when I come in and she's very relaxed, friendly and helpful. The patio has availability often and it's a very fun environment up there. Not to mention the amazing food! Highly recommend the sriracha chicken burger and the roasted broccoli. One of my favorite places in the city.
Pear appetizer was blah but the chicken burger was awesome. Friendly staff.
Our server was amazing and the food and drinks never disappoint. Chop Shop is a must visit!
I really can’t complain, we were a bit disappointed, the menu open table has posted is no where near what they offer. The place itself was fine steak they did offer was very good and the Mashed potatoes were also good.
The brunch menu was delicious, my two friends and I all loved our meals as well as our drinks! The patio had great summer vibes with delicious summer drink options (pina colada, strawberry daiquiri etc..)
Service was very unfriendly and disappointing. We were celebrating our kids 7th birthday and put a note through open table and waitress didn't even attempt to acknowledge their birthday. We felt very rushed and that she wanted us out of there even though it wasn't busy at all at the time we went. We enjoyed the food and were able to sit outside on their patio which was very nice.
We stopped in for a 7pm dinner and they didn’t have several items prepared which made their already limited menu even more so. Our server did not have a lot of tables and seemed very distracted and barely stopped by our table. The entire restaurant seemed really short staffed.
Chop Shop should prepare their staff and kitchen to have a crowded venue. In order to avoid having customers wait a long time for their food
Service absolutely horrendous
Very nice neighborhood restaurant. Terrific upstairs outdoor dining. (they have an elevator).
Wait staff was excellent with drink recommendations as well as food. I would recommend the wings and one of the burgers, Fabulous. I would actually give it a 4.5 if I could .
I made a reservation via open table , I arrived and the restaurant was actually closed for a private event.
This isn’t the first time this is happened, and it’s just overall disappointing. It’s a great restaurant but the consistency is lack luster.
First visit to the Chop Shop. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants a trendy, upscale experience.
Great food. Great service. Loves the burrata and hangar steak and frites
Work lunch on a Monday and the place was dead. Food was mediocre at best which was disappointing bc the decor and setting is cute and I expected better. The walnut apple salad was dry and flavorless which seems hard to do. Probably won’t return.
The food is always good. We especially love the hanger steak and burgers. Patio is a great place to be on a summer evening!
Parts of order were forgotten, fries were cold, burger was well done when asked for medium, little to no apology from manager for poor experience and charged full price for all items despite not being fresh or as ordered
For a name like Chop Shop, the cuts of meat certainly don’t live up to the name. I’d rate their filet mignon towards the bottom of the list of any filet I’ve eaten in, or outside of, Chicago. My partner had a different steak, and it was also not memorable. We took two friends to dinner, and our table unanimously agreed we wouldn’t choose the restaurant again. Now I see why it was so easy to make last minute reservations on what should have been a busy Saturday night.
Food was great! We really enjoyed ourselves. Kid friendly.
If you can sit on the rooftop during the summer, do it! It’s very quaint and pretty. I had the burger which was really good. We went for the $1 oysters but they ran out before we could order any. Half price bottle of wine was a good substitute.
It was cute, the food was amazing.
World Cup match
Look, I get there was an issue with the kitchen, but to not contact us and tell us beforehand is really crappy. Esp with a party of 12. Seriously? Not impressed.
Fun spot. Trendy atmosphere but not too much so, just right. Food was spot on. Great service!
Food and service were excellent
Appetizers were amazing...cauliflower and truffle fries.
My finance and I dined at Chop Shop last week and had an awful experience. We had previously dined here once before with no issues. We came looking to participate in their $1 oyster happy hour. When we ordered we were told that we had secured the last 12 oysters. Two minutes later our server informed us that there were only 6 left and we were happy with that. A couple minutes later we were informed that there were no longer any oysters left and that we would have to order something else from the menu. Not ideal, but not a huge problem as we knew the quality of food was good and we could find something else to eat.
My finance ordered mussels and I gave the chicken sandwich a try. Some time passed and we saw our food delivered to the table next to us. Our server recognized that my sandwich was not what the gentleman next to me ordered and had that returned to the kitchen. The woman next to us began eating the mussels that were delivered. A couple of minutes later, our server came back and informed this woman that those were not in fact the mussels that she ordered. She then took them away, out of sight.
Three minutes later our food was brought out to us. My sandwich and fries were cold (as if they had been sitting for a few minutes having been mistakenly brought to the table next to us). My fiances' mussels were also cold. We asked the server if they were the same mussels that were served to the couple next to us - she said they were not and that she had dumped them out herself. At this point the manager came up and asked us if there was anything wrong. We described our suspicion to him and he said he would check with the chef. He came back a minute later and let us know that these were in fact the same mussels that had been served to the table next to us! He offered to have the mussels re-made, and did, but the damage was already done at this point. Not only was food that had been eaten and touched by someone else served to us, the server lied to us about it.
One our favorite neighborhood gems
Food and Service was great. Got a bottle of wine because it was on special that night, didn't realize it wasn't the wine we had ordered till we had already had a glass. Stayed for the show that night that was in the back. Very nice and cozy venue. I would see another show there.
Checking out CS for daughter’s post wedding brunch! Fit the bill for a casual and fun spot w/ a nice private outdoor space. The food selections we tried were just what we were looking for so they’ll get the contract!!
