Porkchop is a restaurant and bar that dishes out an urban interpretation of a Southern backwoods experience. It is an unapologetically unpretentious neighborhood party spot serving gourmet Southern comfort food and BBQ, and featuring an innovative ‘lowbrow’ bar program with some of the world’s top whiskeys. Porkchop serves brunch, lunch, dinner and latenight on Randolph Street, and provides service for all three meal periods and late into the evening at its Hyde Park location. The music is edgy and eclectic; live music is a steady feature in Hyde Park. Porkchop offers daily drink and food specials and features a sidewalk patio in the summer.

I wouldn't know how Chop was, they went out of business months ago, yet Open Table still took my reservation. It was quite a surprise

Made open table reservation for brunch at 10:00am for 4. Took a $11.01 uber to restaurant. Arrived 9:45. Doors were locked but brunch menu was posted we we assumed doors opened at 10. Hostess walked past us into restaurant. Came out 15 minutes later and said "are you waiting to eat?" We replied that we had a 10am open table reservation at which point she rolled her eyes so hard it had to have pulled an eye muscle. She yelled something to the kitchen and came back and threw some menus at us and said I guess we can make something work. We politely said no thank you and left. Cost $11.01 for uber. And still no food

We came for the 50 cent wings and $2 beers. We had smoked wings with no sauce because they brought 4 different types of BBQ sauce to choose from, and we also got the Buffalo wings. The smoked wings were the winner. We like our wings cooked HARD--these were done completely, but we like a hard skin, so we took them home to finish them off with a little broiler action. We drank PBR for our $2 beer (Bud was the other choice)...kind of fun to go back in time with a pint in hand. We sat on the patio and it was quiet. Since we live in River City, it is only a 10 minute walk. Many specials ---check it out. The sign says Pork Chop, but it is listed as Chop on Open Table, it seems to me that was the original name when the restaurant opened, it was more steak centered then, so it is hard to find on the Open Table list.

We sat on the patio, and we were served by the bartender. He was especially nice and thoughtfull--always there when we needed him. We had the Thursday $10 special. It was Brisket, Bourbon & Beer. The sandwich came with fries and four BBQ sauces. The sandwich was a good sized burger topped with beef brisket-delish. We got a can of Tecante and a shot of Old Crow with the deal. The movie IT was showing, and those with a ticket stub got 20% off there meals (not on the specials of course). What was kinda good creepy, you have to know that balloons are the signature of Pennywise the Clown from the movie though to get it, the outside blackboard was set on the side walk with a red balloon attached. It said to come in for the Pennywise Beer special. That was very clever! I love the patio and the specials. We live in River City, so it is perfect. Everyday is a new offer.

This restaurant is called Porkchop, and it was more of a casual dining atmosphere. There was no need for reservations. By its description, I thought it would be more of a steakhouse

Our food was tasty but 3 items came out wrong. We had to send back to kitchen, the waitress was good but the overall service was not good. The manager did give us a discount and a round of liquor which was nice. I would go back to give Chop a second chance. Went on Mother's Day so I expected a much better experience.
