Loved this restaurant - first time diners. We opted for the Counter seating - overlooking the kitchen (they have a small kitchen area, with the main prep/washing/etc. out back hidden from view, so it's pure theater). Very lively, amazing organization with the Chef calling and checking each and every order personally. Food was good, innovative, well presented. This would be a great venue for a date night, or a large group and we'll go back for sure - good value for money.
A fantastic meal, as always! The steamed pork buns, wagyu beef skewers, soup dumplings and the Brussels sprouts are the dishes that brings us back again and again. The one downside is the room is really "live" and it's hard to hear your dining companions. Still it's a lovely experience every time!
Outstanding Asian fare and love the small plate concept so you can share and explore the menu.
As a new experience, I would have to say that this was easily one of our favorite restaurants. The server was great. He did a great job of explaining how things work, and made a couple of good recommendations. He also asked if we had a designated time to be done with dinner, and that he would do everything possible to make sure we didn't miss our show at the DCPA. The food was incredible. We started with the PotStickers and the Lobster Crepe. Both were very tasty, and a great start for the meal. Next we had the Malasian noodles and the Korean BBQ Chicken. The noodles had shrimp and scallops in there, that was very tasty, and well cooked. The balance of noodles, protein and sprouts was perfect. The Korean BBQ chicken was really good, though I would like a little more Kimchi slaw. The potato pancakes offset the spicy chicken quite well.
Overall, we had an amazing meal, and couldn't ask for anything more.
Always amazing! They just do so much good, I have favorites and have been coming to the restaurant for 9 years. I went twice this week!
Food has gone down hill. Was very disappointed as we were very pleased the times be visited before. So sad!
Food was spectacular, especially the soup dumplings, pot stickers and noodle bowl. The only thing that was just “ok” was the wagu beef. Scallop dish was awesome too. Service was exceptional. Haven’t had as attentive a wait staff in a long time. Do yourself a favor, and go!
Great experience with the tasting menu. 12 of us had a great time at two tables of 6.
Cholon is so great! Consistent, creative, delicious. So fun! If you haven’t been you must go. Here are my 3 must haves.
1. Soup dumplings (gruyere and French onion soup in a dumpling)
2. Pork Belly Honey Buns
3. Brussel Sprouts, Ground Pork, Kaffir Lime
This is a place I have been coming to for a decade.
ChoLon is always amazing. The food is original and everything on the menu is wonderful!
Waiter was super nice and gave great advice when it came to food/wine. The food was delicious and the desserts were amazing. Was a great experience for my girlfriend and I and would go there again.
They ran out of the one dish that we really wanted to try, soup dumplings. This was fairly early on a holiday weekend Sunday night. Our waiter was not very informative or helpful either. Most the dishes were disappointing and overpriced.
Hi there Monica, I'm very sorry to hear you were disappointed in your experience at ChoLon. I did just check in with our management team and they said we did not run out of Soup Dumplings until about 8 pm on Sunday night, which is one hour before closing. We do run a scratch kitchen and with Monday (yesterday) being a holiday we wanted to be careful about not over-prepping. We'd love to buy you a round of soup dumplings if you'd like to visit us again in the future. Best, Savanna Ronco
Let me start out by saying we sat out on the patio and it was quiet and fantastic for people watching. The inside is a great deal louder.
The food is unique and delicious! The price is worth every bite!
3 of us split the shrimp rolls, above average and come with a delightful sauce, the soup dumplings, these are insanely good!! It’s like a French onion soup in a dumpling and perfectly done! The lobster crepes, which were not at all what I expected but the flavors were brilliantly blended and I fully understand why they are a signature item! The Korean BBQ chicken, which had a sweet glaze charred around the chicken and this flavorful sauce and the most interesting and tasteful lightly fried “bread!” Since I had been craving scallops, we finished with the diver scallops which were cooked to perfection and offset by the corn and chowder! Food gets two flaming thumbs up!
Our service was also excellent. Our server Samatha was absolutely awesome! She knew the menu and answered all our menu questions knowledgeably and honestly without ever being pushy about any menu item! Everyone on staff was running food and filling waters for everyone else which makes overall service at any restaurant better.
I looked at reviews and menus for more than 40 restaurants in downtown Denver for our last dinner and I can say without a doubt, I am satisfied with my choice! Definitely worth a lunch or dinner if you’re in Denver!
Our server, Louis, was FANTASTIC! I’d been to Cholon 3 times previously, but he made the experience even better and his food suggestions were fabulous!!
Really enjoyed our meal with her out of town we can gas. The waiter was a little bit verbose in describing menu items when all we really wanted was to have a drink first
Was average food. Drinks were okay. Nice outdoor seating. Over priced for what it was.
The food was great. The service even better. Evan was our waiter. He's lived or travelled in Asia and was able to clearly explain the food and make our experience that much better.
My husband and I went to ChoLon for our anniversary. It was our first time there. My friend recommended it and we loved it! The flavors exploded in our mouths. We could have eaten 100 soup dumplings! The lamb was also delicious!
Really impressive, absolutely delicious food! I love the modernized and inspiring way that the chef captured SE Asia flavors in each dish so elegantly.
Also, I was celebrating an anniversary and the staff surprised us with a delectable dessert to celebrate.. It was a lovely, thoughtful touch.
The food is great onion soup dumplings are great also pork bell on steamed bun are great . To put it simple everything is great.
The food is good, but very small portions. Group of four ordered three appetizers, three small plates and an entree to split. Left hungry because you only got one taste of each plate.
I thought the food was not great. We had high expectations for the soup dumplings. But perhaps because I am Asian and have had traditional soup dumplings many times before, I couldn’t adapt to the French onion soup flavor. The tuna tartare was ok, but so over priced. Overall, nice atmosphere but overpriced Asian food that is not very authentic.
This was our first time at ChoLon. It was a busy Saturday night but the operation seemed to be a well oiled machine. The Dumplings were AMAZING and so were the spiced donuts.
Wow just wow. Amazing bursting flavors - delicious and healthy. Great service too. 5 stars!
this will be our new GO TO place when comes to Denver. the Soup Dumpling was the best!!! we had French Onion Soup Dumplings and it was one of the best things I ever had. we love it n ordered two orders. you must try that as well!
As far as food quality, expression, creativity, and variety, ChoLon was the absolute best place we visited when we traveled to Denver. Based on a friend's recommendation, we tried a little bit of everything and literally nothing disappointed. From cocktails to pork buns to great desserts, you need to go there and spend your $$$$!
Have been several times now. Always excellent. Creative cuisine, good service and a nice wine program. Our son's favorite restaurant. Were celebrating his birthday.
This restaurant is SO fun, the service was fantastic and everyone is so knowledgeable on the food and drinks! We are excited to try Cho77 and their French restaurant, Le Roux? We would go back to ChoLon Modern Asian again, great for groups of 4!
Very good food as always, just very slow service given the place was at most 2/3 full.
Sampled a few items from the happy hour menu--all of them were amazing and it would be easy to make a full meal out of those options, alone. We also tried a couple of the main shareable dinner options: they were good, but not as good as the appetizers, so next time I'll probably double down on happy hour, instead. Joseph was knowledgeable and made great recommendations.
Phenomenal food here every time. We sat at the chef's counter which was an awesome experience if you can handle the heat. The chefs were really friendly and were answering questions about their cooking process.
Waiter was fast and chose a delicious wine based on my personal preferences. Best experience I’ve had at ChoLon so far.
The food was great, but the cost was double what I would expect to pay for the quantity.
After reading so many great reviews and rankings, I was very disappointed. We ordered soup dumplings. They came out dry and not very hot. We also had the lobster crepe. It was just okay. My friend said her scallops were fantastic. I chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. I do eat out frequently. This food experience was very disappointing. The staff was very nice though.
Started off with waiting 30 minutes to get a table despite having reservations. After 30 minutes they finally offered pushing several bar tables together for us to be seated. Despite 8pm reservations, we didn’t get our food until after 10pm and about 5-10 minutes between each person receiving their main course. The restaurant was maybe 20% full at this point and we just kept getting told that the kitchen was behind. While the food was quite good, the service was enough that I don’t think we’ll be back unfortunately. There are too many other good restaurants with good service to go back to this again.
I found the service to be absolutely top rate with friendly knowledgeable staff that was attentive and quick with excellent advice. Every dish was creative and very tasty. A very pleasant night out.
Fantastic service. Joseph, our waiter, did a fantastic job of letting us know how we could adjust the menu to be gluten-free since one of our party had an issue. Great food, great service, great restaurant.
Food was amazing. Dessert sounded great on paper, but I think the peaches (version of peach cheesecake) were a little on the green side because the flavor just didn't come through. Maybe later in the season it will be better. Everything else was definitely on point and lived up to expectations. Definitely will be coming back.
Truly excellent food - we've been several times and have always really enjoyed. The food is unique and delicious, and I like sharing everything. The service is also very good.
