Waiter was fast and chose a delicious wine based on my personal preferences. Best experience I’ve had at ChoLon so far.
The food was great, but the cost was double what I would expect to pay for the quantity.
After reading so many great reviews and rankings, I was very disappointed. We ordered soup dumplings. They came out dry and not very hot. We also had the lobster crepe. It was just okay. My friend said her scallops were fantastic. I chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. I do eat out frequently. This food experience was very disappointing. The staff was very nice though.
Started off with waiting 30 minutes to get a table despite having reservations. After 30 minutes they finally offered pushing several bar tables together for us to be seated. Despite 8pm reservations, we didn’t get our food until after 10pm and about 5-10 minutes between each person receiving their main course. The restaurant was maybe 20% full at this point and we just kept getting told that the kitchen was behind. While the food was quite good, the service was enough that I don’t think we’ll be back unfortunately. There are too many other good restaurants with good service to go back to this again.
Fantastic service. Joseph, our waiter, did a fantastic job of letting us know how we could adjust the menu to be gluten-free since one of our party had an issue. Great food, great service, great restaurant.
Food was amazing. Dessert sounded great on paper, but I think the peaches (version of peach cheesecake) were a little on the green side because the flavor just didn't come through. Maybe later in the season it will be better. Everything else was definitely on point and lived up to expectations. Definitely will be coming back.
Truly excellent food - we've been several times and have always really enjoyed. The food is unique and delicious, and I like sharing everything. The service is also very good.
A bit pricy, but every meal here is fantastic. Thank you!
The tuna tartare, soup dumplings and sticky buns were out of this world!! Service was great too!
Perfect place to share meals with friends. The atmosphere and food make for a great place to sit and have conversations with friends. Sharing plates is highly recommended.
It was just OK and not amazing enough for the price
A unique experience that I was happy to be a part of in my short stay in Denver.
The whole fish was absolutely delicious, and was dramatically presented. Soup dumplings tasted like French onion soup wrapped in a noodle; clever and fun. The beef skewers had good flavor, but were undercooked (nearly raw), which was not a problem for me, but some may find it off-putting. Creative cocktails. Overall, a very good experience.
My husband and I had been wanting to go to Cho Lon for a long time. We were seated outside and we didn’t get a server until we went back in and asked for someone. Our sever comped our sodas for the oversight. We received drinks and an app quickly but waited a long time for entrees. My husbands noodles were good but mine tasted burnt and the noodles and sauce were dark. When I told our waiter he said that it was “a darker wok cook.” He brought the entree to the chef and my entree came back quickly. The person who brought it to me said, “I hope that is cooked more to your liking.” Yes not burnt is better. After that we didn’t see our waiter for quite awhile and my husband actually went across the street for Starbucks after our entrees because we weren’t offered coffee or dessert. The waiter finally then came with our check and no other ask; he appeared displeased with us.
This was just an unexpected bad experience. My husband’s corporate office is a few blocks away and with all the choices in the area, we will find other options going forward.
Our server and service in general was very good. Good menu explanations since it was our first time there. A few selections were outstanding such as the lobster crepes and the donuts for dessert. However, overall most of the food was simply average. Good, well cooked....but not as original as described and frankly grossly overpriced. Small plates are all the rage right now so restaurants are capitalizing on that but if I’m going to drop $350 for a four person dinner, there are many places I’d revisit before coming back here. While that sounds harsh, it’s just reality. If this was a $200 restaurant, I’d review it differently but if you want to be in this category...you have to deliver the goods. And ChoLon simply has some good food but should adjust their pricing and try to be truly innovative to stand the test of time.
Whole bass fried was amazing. Thai spring rolls were delicious. We sat at the kitchen Chef bar and enjoyed watching the food preparation and the aromas.
The food and service was very good although very pricey for the amount/value. Our server was very knowledgable about wine which was impressive. They also have a really diverse and good wine list. We had the wagu skewers, potstickers, mussels, calamari and shrimp/noodles. The skewers and potsticker were excellent and the rest of the food was good. Another note is that most of the dishes have quite a spice kick to them which we like. The ambience is very nice. We would go back again.
Everything was absolutely delicious, better than the bite prior. Our waiter was incredibly knowledgable and had us mentally taste every flavor and texture before even taking the first bite. I take all our out of town guests here first!
Cholon is my wife and I’s favorite restaurant in Denver (well it’s a tie with one other). The food is always phenomenal, the service is always five-star, and the environment is perfect for a date night. We will be back again and again.
Great food, wonderful service, very attentive, a little loud
Food was very good. The pork belly buns were seasoned well as was the hoisin sauce with a bit of chili heat. Brussels sprouts were crispy and very good. The diver scallops were seared to perfection and still translucent in the center. Mussels with the pork and lime were among the best I have had. The service has something to be desired. We arrived 2 minutes early and told we had to wait to be seated because we were early and the server was just starting. It took a while to see our server to order a drink. He seemed a bit put off that we weren’t ready to order right after he explained the menu. They were busy and that may have contributed the lack of attention for the 1st half of the meal. I asked for the beer menu and he never followed up to let me order one. Biggest complaint was we were told to order one from each group (small bites, small plates, sharing and wok cooked. That was too much food and I have a big appetite as does my partner.
Excellent food - worth the drive!
Incredible food! Pork belly buns, soup dumplings, ahi, unbelievably good. Some of the best food in the state!
The whole bass dinner was very impressive! We told our waiter that we needed to be out the door in fairly short order to make a rock concert he did a great job of making it happen. Excellent service.
Always wonderful and creative food and terrific service. Always quite noisy. We only come here as a twosome now, since conversation is difficult with four and impossible with six. We like the updating of the menu with excellent new choices but are glad they leave the soup dumplings and potstickers there as favorites. One of Denver's finest, unless your evening plans call for conversation.
Everything was exceptionally good, even as leftovers. One of our best dining experiences lately.
ChoLon continues to impress during every visit! Superior service. Each bite demands attention.... it’s just that delicious.
Food awful! Very expensive for awful food! Very noisey and waiter agreed with us that food not great but he did nothing about it!
When you are looking for a true dining experience, Cho Lon is your place. Everything is inventive and full of flavor. We loved the potstickers and barbecue chicken with kin chi the best!
Excellent as always
I love this place. The only draw back is the tables are very close together. I’ve been many times. The upside is that you naturally talk to people next to you because you can’t help but hear what they’re saying.
Overpriced for what you get. Food is good but there are better places in town. Portions are small when sharing. Soup dumplings are great but at $14 for 4. Pricey.
Outstanding on multiple levels: Food, Service, and Ambiance.
I had heard about how wonderful ChoLon is from several friends but I had never taken the time to go. I am now kicking myself for not going sooner. ChoLon is Asian European fusion to perfection.
The lobster crepes are not to be missed, the soup dumplings are off the charts. Finally, I am a calamari snob and this is some of the best I have ever had. The service is old-world, there when you need them. Special mention for Sierra (sp) and Mark. The table was cleared after each course and water glasses were kept full - it was a hot day.
Lamb is very good.
Food is outstanding as is the well stocked bar and specialty drinks. Waiter was very helpful and even recommended that we had over ordered which was true. There are various small plates to share and even after ordering less, it was too much. I look forward to going back. One of the best places in Denver.
Delicious food and attentive service! The soup dumplings were beyond phenomenal and the staff was friendly and very knowledgeable about the entire menu!
Everything on the menu was outrageously delicious. If you are big group, go for the tasting menu.
Great restaurant with amazing food and service!
Great service, very good food, a bit too loud
The food was phenomenal, and the wait staff super friendly and helpful. Our waiter, Dave, was knowledgable and personable, giving us awesome recommendations that we took, and were absolutely not disappointed. Definitely want to come back, and have already recommended this place to all of my friends.
