Two lentils, burnt garlic, fresh spinach
Wonderful service, delicious food and intimate and relaxing ambience. Very much recommend
Chola has changed for the better. the ambiance has improved and so has the quality of the cooking. They have a nice section for "street food" and the vegetarian dishes have improved taste as compared to past times.
For an upscale Indian restaurant which is not crazy priced Chola should be on the list.
delicious food but quite noisy; we were at a table for 5 and could barely hear our friends on the other side.
My husband cannot have garlic and they were on top of it before we even asked our server about it. They were very helpful in making suggestions. Most restaurants and give you something bland and boring. Chola served lentils and salmon without garlic and they were delicious. The service is top notch and the food is delicious.
The food was excellent, and authentic. On a Tuesday night we visited, the restaurant was not busy, so it made for a really nice, quiet dining experience. Would recommend the restaurant to anyone. A note about the cocktails - though they sound exotic in their descriptions, order carefree, as they do not stray too far from the traditional. The only reason I dinged them on the atmosphere is because the staff was preparing for the next day's lunch buffet while we were still enjoying our dinner.
Couldn’t believe we’d never been to Chola as it’s in the neighborhood. The food is excellent as is the wait staff. We had a large group that included a stroller and everyone was very accommodating. Some type of wet wipe or finger bowl would be nice after eating the crab dishes - they are covered in delicious curry but served in shell so it’s a bit of a mess. Overall a great dining experience - we will be back!
The food was awful!
They brought out a special birthday dessert it was lovely and sweet.
This was our third time here since discovering it a couple months ago. We love this restaurant - the food, ambience, staff, management, service and experience. It’s amazing! We first came with guests and keep coming back to treat more guests. Today, we brought my brother who’s visiting from LA and said their garlic naan was the best he’s had in his life. His sister in law who lives here joined us and she agreed and said the food was “unreal”. Chola always exceeds our expectations! Thank you!
Fantastic food, fresh and great selection. Staff was friendly and attentive
Chola was outstanding from the time we walked in to the time we left. 1 member of our party arrived a little early and they seated them at our table. We sat and from the appetizers to the entree what ever questions she had about the entree our waiter explained what it is and how it is made. He was excellent. He also paired our meats to the type of rice we should have with it.!! I was an excellent dining experience. Definitely going back.
Great food. Good service.
Awful food. Greasy. Gelatinous sauces.
Salty main dishes and promised vegetable where absent, not even a small potato, only meet and can sauce. They give a bad name to Indian food, Mitali and Haveli Indian restaurants closed for similar reasons.
Delicious and satisfying lunch buffet. Very clean and lively. Great value!
Very good lunch place. Beautiful restaurant and great service. I just wish the lunch buffet was slightly cheaper than 18 dollars.
Wonderful dinner from start to finish. Blissful food and excellent hospitality.
This place has really improved over the years especially within the past few months.
The food is many steps up from the usual Indian restaurant.
Pleasant atmosphere; staff friendly, helpful and efficient; food very good snd certainly plentiful
This was our alternative thanksgiving and we had no regrets! Friendly ambience and the place was full on thanksgiving evening within an hour of opening. Every time the sizzling tandoori dishes came through the restaurant on a cart, the smells and sizzling sounds were amazing.
The chicken dishes were flavorful and I have to say the lamb chops from the tandoor were generous and tasty.
All Washed down with a decent bottle of Sancerre. I will return!
Service could be a little better. Order taking was friendly, helpful and polite. Cleanup was a bit abrupt before we had finished. One dish was forgotten but our waiter was quick to refund since we all already had a bounty of food on the table for our party.
Incredible food and amazing service. Best Thanksgiving Meal ever!
Unusual in that it specializes in food from the Coastal regions of India, including the South, the South-West, and the East. Excellent cooking - we loved the Kerala prawns in coconut milk sauce, the saag paneer, the chicken malai kebab, and the chaat dishes we ordered as appetizers.
Love this restaurant. Food delicious, great service, staff always helpful.
We enjoy the delicious food selections at the lunch buffet. Varied, interesting. We will definitely return.
Superb in every way. Food is amazingly good and service is as well. My only negative comment is that the Malbec by the glass was better in the past and the pour was more generous in the past as well.
The food is consistently delicious. The restaurant is just lovely and very cozy I find. Staff is always very welcoming and helpful. I’ve taken many friends and family here and they all think it’s the best Indian food they have ever had. I agree!
Good food, well served. Best part is that we could hear each other talk.
way over priced and service not so good. a regular brown rice cost 6 bucks on the menu.
Bad food n service
I had been in Chola for lunch buffet a few years back. Food was very good with reasonable price. This week, I decided to invite my relatives to this restaurant and end-up so disappointing. My sister ordered a coconut drink and it was so salty. I ordered their specialty Koris Gassi because I like masala. The manager described the dish has a thinner sauce than Tikka Masala. I was willing to try something different. When the dish came out, it was a bright yellow color thick sauce. It doesn't seem like red masala at all. I asked two servers about the dish and they couldn't name the dish I was eating. They told me they have to look into my check to find out but they never came back for an answer. I strongly believed they gave me a butter chicken dish but refused to admitted the mistake. I also ordered Garlic Naan. It was the worst Naan I ever had. I don't smell any garlic at all. The Naan was soft and didn't like come out from Tandoor oven, rather from microwave. Also, the service is very slow, we waited about an hour and half to get our dinner. Took us a total of three hours for this dinner. I had much better lunch buffet food in an Indian restaurant at Jackson Height, Queens. The lunch is around $13 pp.
Usually better service. They were overwhelmed tonight.
Was pleasantly surprised
Food was delicious. They got our order wrong for appetizers and took a very long time to serve the entrees. But were very nice.
Food was insanely delicious. I ordered muligatney soup which I usually do in other places and this soup, by far was the most unique and best tasting soup I have had. It was amazing. The chicken tikka masal was divine, and it is a dish I order all the time. The cauliflower appetizer was like none I have ever tasted and delicious. The special birthday desert of rasmalai was also superb. I aboslutely love this place. hats off to the chef. The service was excellent as well. Overall, a little pricey but damn well worth it!
Chola has delicious food and their lunch buffet is of great value.
This small and very consistently good restaurant has been on 58th street for years, it is our go to choice for Indian food. And don't miss their buffet lunch when in midtown during the day.
We have been regulars at Chola for several years now. It is the most authentic Indian food in NYC! We always brings friends and family here and Chola’s quality of food and service never fails! All our friends love their food! Consistently the best Indian food we have had in nyc!
Food was all fantastic and the service was attentive and accommodating for our large group.
We enjoyed our dinner at Chola. My only complaint is they charge extra for the Basmati Rice. At many restaurants it is included. The portions are a nice size. And, yes, we'll go again soon.
Excellent assortment of well-prepared Indian dishes!
