   We had another loving dining experience at Chira's. We love the ambience here - very warm and inviting. Our server waited on us promptly and was attentive without being intrusive. My husband ordered the Oscar with chicken, and had it with a bowl of delicious clam chowder (which I tasted). He said his dish was excellent. I had the halibut fish tacos, which was very tasty. Their revolving house wines are always good. We look forward to our next visit, and consider Chira's one of the best fine dining experience in Salem.

    The best french fries, halibut, fish, and chips with a lemony tater sauce, and amazing! Friends ordered French dip and fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and they raved! The place is beautiful. Service was fast and friendly. At one point we thought the music was a little loud, but so were we. My partner and I each ordered a meal and I had a glass of wine and our total was $57 so great value! 10/10 would refer to a friend.

    Restaurant staff were all friendly and attentive. A generous pour of the house red wine, a Camelot Cab, was excellent. The gratis appetizer of seared Ahi was plated nicely, well prepare, fresh and tasty. Cesar salad could have a bit less dressing, however was flavourful and the added high quality anchovies was a wonderful addition. Rack of Lamb was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The featured Pork Schnitzel was huge but could have been a bit thinner. The caper sauce, while tasty, did not need the copious capers; a few go a long way. The mixed vegetables were very flavourful with the addition of artichokes and two peppers. The red smashed potatoes were perfectly accompanied both entrées. Creme Brulee with the hardened carmalized crust encasing the rich, creamy custard was the perfect ending to our dinning experience.

    Does it really take over 2 hours to meet people at a table and serve them dinner? I've been a server more than once and know it does not! We would have had dessert and more drinks - but you wore us out with waiting! We didn't know what the hold up was, and of course were very polite - but we felt it was a rude, thoughtless, unkind way to treat people who just want to PAY YOU to serve them dinner. We arrived at 5:30 - should be early enough!

    Arrived at 1845. Immediately seated. Everyone was friendly. Took at least 15 minutes before wait staff was ready to take our order. I ordered prime rib, my husband ordered ravioli. Got our drinks and bread. At 1930 I got my Caesar salad. We got our entrees at about 1950. Our drinks were gone by then, we had to ask for more. My baked potato was cold. It was patently obvious it had been refrigerated and the reheated. The prime rib was delicious as was my husbands ravioli. At 2015 I asked for to go boxes and the check. Our waiter explained she would get those as soon as she checked on another table. The other table ordered more drinks, so our wait staff went behind the bar and began the task of painstakingly mixing 4 drinks for the other table, even though there were two others working behind the bar. We finally got our to go boxes, but not the check. We had to stand up to get her to finally bring the check. Restaurant didn’t appear that busy. Our waiter had about 3 tables. There was a very large party, but they weren’t in our waiter’s area, and they came in about 1715 hours. Food was good, except the baked potato. Dining experience sub par. I don’t pretend to know what was going on in the kitchen, I am sure it was chaos. I have waited, and managed fine dining in my younger years, so frequently I give a lot of grace. This experience tried that grace. Thankfully, all of the staff appeared friendly.

    Made reservations for my bestfriends birthday dinner! I was so pleased with everything! The server was AMAZING! She went above and beyond, which we greatly appreciated. She was so sweet and energetic. To our surprise there was a live band, and they sang a beautiful happy birthday song dedicated to the birthday girl. We were a party of 6 and let me just say, there were zero complaints on the food and drinks (so yummy). The portions are large and we all had food to go! Thank you Chira's and your staff for a wonderful experience. We will be back!

    This restaurant is a bit out of the way, but worth it. Among our party, we ordered a cobb salad, the prime rib dinner, clam chowder and shrimp fettucine - all of them prepared nicely and quite tasty. Also, a live jazz band was providing music. We would definitely eat there again.

    Your host told me you guys were full and offered us an awful seat out outside of his podium. We had reservations. My boyfriend asked if we could sit at the bar and they begrudgingly obliged. But! We sat there for 1.5 hours and there were PLENTY of open tables that were left vacant the entire time. He was rude and he flat out lied. He ruined the whole thing for me.

    Food was fresh and delicious. Service was quick and friendly. I always forget Chira's is in the Reed Opera house because it is tucked in the back. The ambiance was cozy, the seats were comfortable, and the food and drinks were delicious and reasonably priced. We will definitely be returning.

    Been in Oregon for about 10 months. This was the best food and service experience. Special kudos to our server, Erica. My wife loved the prime rib. I had the chicken tortellini. Both fabulous with large portions. Creme Brulee was best we ever had.

    Went for Valentine's Day and they were serving from a special menu, food choices were consequently limited. Soup was spectacular as were our two entrees. Wait staff was attentive, helpful, and prompt...even with the holiday crowd. Only disappointment was the Margarita, it had a medicinal taste. We will go again.

    Last Sat night we chose Chiras as a Thank You gift for two couples who helped us with a home project. We arrived for our 5 pm reservation and the restaurant was about half full. We ordered promptly but our food didn't arrive until 6:35! One hour and 35 minutes! We checked repeatedly with our kind waitress who said it would be provided soon. About 6 a band set up in the dining room thus making it impossible for our table of six to converse. Our entrees were very good and our waitress said the restaurant would provide free desserts for us because of the very long wait. After finishing our entrees, the desserts were provided 30 minutes later. We were given no reason why the service was so slow. Altogether the experience was like a bad dream - such delayed service and music so loud we couldn't hear each other!

    This was my wife's and my second visit to Chira's. The last time was before the pandemic. Glad to see they made it through the tough times. I had the daily special, which was a BBQ brisket, and my wife had prime rib. Both were delicious and we had plenty to enjoy again for lunch the day after.

    Atmosphere - 4 ( We had reservations at 5 on a Saturday night and got there by 4:45. We were immediately seated. The time we were there, it was slow. Very nice atmosphere for a date night or special night out) Service - 4 (Our waitress was kind and tentative) Chef Salad - 3 (we expected real bacon bits, but they were not) $17 Prime Rib - 4 $29 (Came with Salad, Bread, Veggies, and a lean cut of meat with no fat, but lacked flavor). Adult Beverages- 4.5 $20 There average rating is 3.9, but the biggest drop was my wife being so disappointed in the fake bacon bits. So take that In account. The only thing that would have been nice for my meal would have been asked what I wanted on my baked potato. One of the great things that stuck in my mind was eating my salad slowly, our waitress checked numerous times if it was good or do I need more dressing. That was was great!

    My wife and I eat dinner here often. The food consistently tastes incredible. The Steaks are fantastic. Butternut Ravioli, Vegetarian Pappardelle, and Poached Pear Salad are our other delicious go-tos. It's a great restaurant for a date night or to gather with family. The servers are always friendly, welcoming & professional. Erica's amazing! She has a natural energy and attentiveness that's rare to find. The atmosphere is cozy & cool and frequently enhanced with live jazz musicians. Fully recommend this restaurant.
