Chira's Restaurant & Catering
Food was very good and the servie was outstanding. My only complaint was that the menu discriptions were overly complex and misleading. It was a little weird walking through the empty retail space to get tot the restaurant - but once inside the restaurant it had great ambiance
The steak was good, but slow to be served. The fingerling potatoes and broccoli were tasteless. Bread plates were brought out and 10 minutes later the bread arrived and not the best bread. This was our second poor experience at Chira’s. The next booth had a family with a young unruly child and this did not help, parents and wait staff made no effort to correct the situation or move guests to other tables.
Appetizers and dinner were fresh, hot and delicious. Server was very attentive
Food was fantastic! Atmosphere is charming and intimate. Overall this place is great for large or small groups.
The food was delicious and the waiter made everything sound wonderful and he was very attentive. Nice setting and the price was every reasonable for a downtown restaurant. Would definitely go again and have already recommended it.
Our family moved here recently from southern California where we dined out very often and had excellent choices that were always outstanding. Chira's is the only restaurant I would rate on the level we are used to from our past location. I think the pricing is very good, service is always the best and they have a great menu...and the Happy Hour is great!!! If you are looking for fine dining this is the very best in Salem.
Had a lovely time, our server was amazing, attentive and we were very pleased. The food was amazing and will go again when we visit Salem
Lighting is too low which makes to food look not as appetizing. I ordered the crab and artichoke ravioli and was not impressed. When it came to the table, all you saw was sauce. The ravioli was super super hot inside but the rest of the sauce was not the same temperature. It was almost like the sauce was microwaved or something. Plus it was way too much sauce and not enough ravioli to match it. The dish all tasted like one flavor. Also I ordered a Hefeweizen with a lemon, and she forgot to bring the lemon and the beer was slightly warm. We were the only table in the restaurant that was occupied at the time.
Good Restaurant enjoyed it eminsly, we plan on eating there regularly.
Everything was great and there are other things on the menu that I would like to try. I was surprised that the fish taco was one piece of fish cut in two. I should've gotten the three-piece dinner instead. The tacos were good, though. It was just a surprise.
The service and the food were both outstanding! Coming from Washington DC I didn't expect such impeccable attention to detail with such a European I on quality. Every single thing about the experience, from the knowledge of the staff to the flavor and portion of the food we're amazing! I can't wait to come back and visit again. Thank you for a tremendous experience!
Waiter (Mathew) was excellent! The rack of lamb was very good. Would order it again. Ahi was delicious as were the crab cakes.
Beautiful place, nice atmosphere, great food and wonderful service staff. We were a party of 8 and everyone enjoyed everything about this place, they were very happy to have been introduced to Chira’s Restaurant. We will definitely be coming back.
This is the second time my husband and I have eaten here. The food is delicious. The staff have excellent customer service, and the atmosphere is relaxing. I will be coming back again. Love this place! They even have gluten free pasta.
We truly enjoyed our dinner at Chira's. We will be back. We did the 3 for $30 and felt we got good value for our money. The flat iron steak was superb. My husband said his ribs, although delicious, were a bit tough. The service out of the kitchen was a bit on the slow side, but we were in no hurry and were there to enjoy a relaxing meal.
The food was incredible and pricing very reasonable. We were disappointed in the service as it took 1 hours and 20 minutes for the food to arrive. It was Father's Day brunch but there were only a few other tables. I believe they were just understaffed and we will definitely give them another chance.
The atmosphere was pleasant with very comfortable booths There were also many tables available for large groups. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was very good and plentiful. That night was our anniversary and we were treated with a wonderful creme brulee. We will definitely return for more.
The server who took care of us when we first arrived told us that there was no happy hour on Saturday but we could order drinks from the Happy hour menu. The server that came to us next told us no when we tried to order the drinks.....her attitude was not the best. I think your servers should all be informed for something as simple as the Happy hour question.
I want to say that I like your restaurant very much and when anyone asks me about a place to dine, which is often, I always say you are the best in Salem!!! and I mean that.
Service was slow. Food was average, but shrimp was really good. We'll come back again to see if it is better. Made multiple comments that this was a birthday on app and it wasn't acknowledged or brought up.
The wait staff attentive and responsive. Food was great.
Great food and very enthusiastic staff. Prime rib was amazing.
We LOVE the restaurant. Easter brunch was awesome, tight quarters, but wonderful! Moms Day not. Great wait-staff, but for our 3:00 resv time, no fruit, rice dry (but tasty), salad dressing bottles dripping with goo, dessert table almost empty. Then I watched the gentleman at the carving station fill a plate for himself using his personal fork get food off platters, licking it clean again, then using it to get food from another platter. Glad I had already gotten my food. We were disappointed. Seemed like 3:30 was time for the employees to eat instead of filling the food tables....then paid $32 per plate. But this will not keep us from the restaurant's regular hours/menu.
Mother’s Day brunch
Food was great, but the service was subpar. Took forever to get our appetizers and our server wasn't exactly friendly.
Have been there several times for lunch and dinner. Always good service and great food!
It was fantastic! The food was fantastic. The waiter was fantastic.
Chira’s is a VERY special place to dine with delicious food and ambience! We especially love the owners and know them personally! If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a great meal, have a quiet conversation and enjoy attentive service, Chira’s is THE place! Their Easter Brunch was exceptional! What a treat!
Went here for Easter Brunch. The food was delicious, we loved the variety. Service was a little slow, but to be expected on a holiday. Staff were very friendly. Plan on going back there, highly recommend it!
Wonderful service! Had a large group and they were accommodating and attentive.
I love this restaurant. The food is great and the prices are reasonable. It's located in a nice location and a delight to eat at.
The food and service were excellent and the place looks great! Looking to go out with a group of 20 and be able to talk to most of them? There’s a great spot for it here.
Excellent food. prices good, and service good. i think the best overall in Salem...my favorite place.
A special dinner for 12 people. The waiter was attentive and the service was timely. The food was wonderful. With that many people, there was a good representation of the various dinner options - from meat (prime rib, ny strip, ribeye) to pasta to chicken. The chocolate overload cake for dessert was very delicious. Not one person at our table was disappointed in their meal or the service. We will be back.
The food and service was excellent. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was a very interesting person who really went out of his way to make us comfortable and enjoy our experience. My wife loved her halibut and it was very reasonably priced. My prime rib also was excellent and clam chowder ditto.
Very great experience. Will go back for sure.
I’ve been to the restaurant about 5 times so far and every time good service and good food. Brought 4 friends for their first time on 3/20 and they all enjoyed their meal, drinks, and time there. Matthew was our waiter and he was a lot of fun and did a great job.
I'm a foodie and I expect more from a "nice" restaurant. The food was acceptable (including crab cakes, coconut shrimp, angus filet, ravioli, and others) but nothing more. Although it was early Saturday night, they were out of a number of listed beers, wines, and ciders. And our server was inexperienced with virtually no knowledge of the menu. Any question prompted "I'll go see" - including something as simple as "what winery is the house wine from?" Salem has long had a reputation for mediocre restaurants (with some notable exceptions in the last ten years). My experience at Chira's ensures I'll keep driving to Portland for good food.
The decor was nice and we were all ready to celebrate a birthday. When we ordered our drinks, they were out of a common main ingredient for the drinks we wanted - they had to run and get it from a different location. It was early on a Friday evening - so poor planning somewhere. The server was very nice but service was extremely slow. Once we got our food it was pretty good but the service was too slow to ever go back.
Creative menu with fair prices. This has become the place we take guests. The service is always friendly and timed appropriately.
Great venue, great food. Enjoyed the time spent with good company.
