The Tillamook Cheddar fondue was amazing. The salads were good. We very much enjoyed the raclette, both the veggies on the grill and the cheese underneath. It was great for a birthday celebration. I would definitely go back.
The Zermatt Room was a very special and unique experience, tastefully done. We enjoyed every moment from the cheese fondue (oh my gosh it was so good) to the dark chocolate dipping desert (great). We ordered the steak cooked on the Raclette grill with melted cheese and vegetables. We enjoyed it so much that we have decided to buy our own Reclette cooker and enjoy this at home too! This Restaurant (Chinook Tavern) is outstanding overall but dining in their Zermatt room was delicious, enjoyable and ....I just can't way enough...it's great a MUST TRY!
Our daughter wanted a special fondue night when her younger sister was at a sleepover. We normally go to another (think popular) fondue restaurant that is always packed. Couldn’t get a reservation at that restaurant until 10:00 pm, so gave Chinook / Zermatt Room a try. It was outstanding and not crowded at all. There was some confusion when we checked in, since the hostess sat us in the main dining room. Once we got that straightened out and moved to the Zermatt fondue / raclette room, everything was spot on. Really surprised about some of the critical reviews regarding service, our waiter (Erin) was outstanding, very efficient for fondue. This would be a great location to take a couple of families for a get together or party. I always think fondue is a bit expensive for what you get; but it was worth it at Chinook / Zermatt and we will be back.

We made a reservation for 3 people, and for some reason Open Table made the reservation for the Zermatt room, which focuses on fondue and raclette, at Chinook Tavern. It wasn't what we wanted, but management had tables available in the main dining room where the menu is broader, so they moved us there. The maitre d' mentioned that Open Table frequently assigns people to the Zermatt room for some reason.
We ate at 8 PM. Food was reasonably good, though the duck I ordered was very slightly on the dry side for duck. It seemed to have been prepared in anticipation of being served earlier that evening.
Noise level was pleasant and not loud until half-way through our meal, when music in the nearby bar area was ramped up for a group meeting and dancing there. There were maybe only 2 tables occupied in our dining room at that point, and many more people in the bar.
When I mentioned we had come to celebrate a birthday, the restaurant provided a free dessert for our birthday guest.

our server was hard to find and we sat waiting for a check for about an hour. food was very good! wine selection is primarily by the bottle and drink options are good. We had a large party and sat at a square table which was perfect and quite comfortable.
If service were better I could give this 5 stars

It was date night for my husband and me. We traveled in from Nebraska and found this wonderful restaurant on Open Table. We chose the fondue menu and it was great! What a wonderful relaxing evening we had. Our waiter Nick was very attentive and helpful with our choice of food.

We were in the Zermatt room. Waiter was slow and forgetful. The food was OK, but nothing special. When a group is loud the whole room is noisy. Been in the regular restaurant which was a better experience.
Awesome Fondue and Raclette! Nice change from solid German food we usually go there to eat. Generous portions, large number of choices and options tailored to you tastes and hunger. Our server was one of the best we have encountered. Great for dates since less crowded and secluded tables in corners.
We eat fondue a few times a year and love traditional raclette. This was our first visit to Chinook and now understand why our friends couldn't recommend or recall their experiences. We waited over 15 minutes from the time we were seated until we saw a waiter. It then took over 30minutes until our first fondue course was served. The food was ok, but I'd never return or recommend.
Good, but raclette not entirely authentic. Server could have informed us that the extras on the side would be way too much food.
Unluckily for us, there was a party of 15+ 30 somethings. They seemed to be calm when we arrived, then proceeded to get very loud. The fondue room is small and pretty cozy, much quieter then the rest of the restaurant. We still enjoyed the fondue, but it was a relief when that party finally left. We only stayed another 20 minutes or so.
It was a Saturday night, and quite busy. Not a place for an intimate dining experience, but then that seems difficult to find.
This is the first time I have done fondue and the second time I have visited the restaurant. The service has been amazing both times! The table is set with burners to keep the fondue warm. This can be an obstacle, but the food is worth the challenge. The restaurant was also very good about accommodating for food allergies. My girlfriend suffers from celiac, which can make food choices hard, but the waiter was knowledgeable and worked with us to find the best options including desserts. This is not an everyday hangout, but I do recommend if you are in the mood for something different.
We went here to celebrate two birthdays were warmly greeted by the owners upon our arrival. From that moment on our experience was exceptional. Since we had not been here before, we had several questions about both the menu and the process. Our server, stumped by some of our unusual questions/requests, went in search of answers (thanks Kathryn!) and accommodated all our wishes. Her service was attentive without being obtrusive.
The food was simply marvelous. We began with Tuna Tartar (fresh and delicious) and also tried the fried Brussel Sprouts - which were absolutely amazing. From there we ordered the new Tillamook Cheddar Fondue. The fondue was prepared with leeks and mushrooms and was simply one of the best we have tried. It came with a delightful and generous assortment of apples, new potatoes, zucchini and mushrooms. Oh! And some of the best bread I have ever had in a restaurant. We chose to add on their special sausages which were flavorful and excellent. Dessert consisted of a to-die-for apple strudel, and berries with creme anglaise...both were simple perfection.
This was simply one of the best restaurant experiences we have had in a long time. We cannot wait to return and sample more of the menu. Special kudos to Kathryn, Ali and Christopher for helping to make the evening beyond memorable.
Having had raclette in Switzerland, I'm surprised when it is on the menu here in the States. The Zermatt Room in the Chinook Tavern provides a great way to try the Swiss meal. You grill your meat and vegetables at the table, while melting the cheese on small paddles under the grill. Then you pour the cheese over the potatoes, vegetables, or meat, whatever you want. There are dipping sauces for the meat. The standard meal comes with cheese, sausages, veggies, and potatoes. You can add on additional meats or shrimp. It's definitely designed for a social time and be sure to bring your appetite. The service was attentive and there are a variety of appetizers and desserts to round out your meal. They serve traditional fondue. It's a bit pricey, but worth it for a fun evening.

I'm sure we had an uncommon experience because it was Restaurant Week on a Tuesday evening - we had the room to ourselves. So there was no ambient noise
We had a great time at the Zermatt Room this month. The service was great, the experience was lots of fun, and the food was good. It's odd (but fun) to cook one's own meal, and we could have used a bit larger portions- meat portions are tiny. The experience was great, and we really enjoyed all of the good food and the fun.
Dining with another couple, we enjoyed the ambiance and service. My husband enjoyed the special of grouper, while I had the fried brie which was very rich, but delicious. The bread served at the beginning of dinner was dry and crunch, but the rest of the food did not reflect that. I also had a salad with fantastic dressing and the greens were fresh. Parking was easy on a Friday night, but the bar was packed.
Food was excellent! Wait staff was great. I was confused because Open Table did not make it clear that there was a fondue room, AND a regular restaurant menu. So we thought it was all fondue and showed up expecting that. We got a regular menu instead because the conversation between us and the hostess was not clear on which room we showed up for. I think she did try to ask, but because we had never been there before, we did not know what she meant and I felt like she should have treated it like it was our first time (which it was) and explained it to us. She asked what the reservation "was under", so I thought she meant what name was the reservation under. So we ate from the regular menu, and then after the meal, we found out that our Open Table gift certificate was ONLY good for the fondue room. The manager honored it anyway, but I felt like everyone, including me, was very confused about the whole situation. I told the manager that there was not a choice on Open Table to choose either the fondue or regular room when making the reservation, and he said he'd never heard that before and kind of argued with me about it. HOWEVER, the waitress told me that she had heard the same feedback a few times from other customers. I do have to say, the food was delicious, but I was a little bummed that I did not get to try the fondue, which is what I was really looking forward to. We will be back to experience the fondue room because the food was great, and the manager was nice about the whole thing overall.
Food was terrific. Our water appeared to be completely overwhelmed, as though New Years Eve was his first day on the job. He made a number of errors (which were corrected) and was VERY slow.
We went for our Anniversary. It was a Wednesday night so we thought we'd try something new. Although the bar was crowded, we were the only ones in the fondue room. Very quiet...almost too quiet. Eric, our waiter was great. Food was terrific and it was fun melting the cheese. It would be more fun to do with another couple.
The restraint did not receive our reservation from open table, they were able to accommodate us and were appreciative that we came. I wish open table would be more "real time" . We made reservations online the evening prior to dining. Chinook was a great experience for fondue and raclette!
We arrived during Denver's restaurant week which is a very busy time. We usually avoid this time. We got our Open Table reservation without any problem and it was immediately recognized and we were seated on time. The staff is excellent but seemed a little overwhelmed. Our meal was a little slow arriving compared with previous visits, but the service was attentive. We enjoy Chinook and will return.
Our family of 4 went on a Friday night & really enjoyed the whole experience! Attentive service with great recommendations for food selections. Best cheese fondue in Denver. It's in a separate room from the rest of Chinook, so you have to book the raclette experience specifically.
we went there on valentines expecting good food but mediocre service on such a busy night and what we got was GREAT food and wonderful service at a moderate price. our reservations were respected and we sat right away, took a bit to get asked what we would like to drink but after that it was non stop service and wonderful food and delicious display. we were really happy with this place and will go back

Raclette and fondue was fun and interesting but I wouldn't do it again. I think I'd stick to their regular menu. Great place!
When we arrived for our reservation, the restaurant denied we had a reservation at all at first, and then we were told that the chef had closed the room for the day because the raclette cheese he ordered had gone off before it arrived. Which I certainly understand, but I wish the restaurant had told us before we drove all the way out there for nothing. We had a general impression of rather unwelcoming confusion. (I had to enter ratings to submit this, but as you can see, we didn't actually dine there.)
We went on Thurs night at 7pm and I thought it would be crowded. In fact the fondue room was empty. There were many others having regular meals. We had the room to ourselves. It was an enjoyable, pleasant evening. Food was good and the wine list was nice. I will definitely go back.
I came with three other people for Restaurant Week. We started with fondue for two, and then ordered raclette. The raclette was really fun to cook and the sausages, chicken and steak were great. Both came with all sorts of vegetables and potatoes and bread as well. We all decided we liked the fondue the best though and would be more likely to order that next time. We had two waitresses, and they were very attentive and helpful. Our water and wine glasses were always refilled. The waitresses also made sure the temperature on our fondue was right and gave detailed instructions on how to do the raclette.
We went on Thursday before Valentine's day and we had the room to ourselves. The room is closed off from the rest of the restaurant, so it feels very cozy. Despite that, we had great service, weren't forgotten. We skipped out on the fondue and went for the raclette. The raclette came with cheese (of course), mini dill pickles, sliced onions, thin mushrooms, asparagus, and two types of sausages. We also opted for some beef, which turned out to be one of the best parts of the meal, very tender and flavorful. All of the components were fresh. The asparagus was especially tender and sweet. I tend to prefer spicy sausages, so the mild ones here were not as exciting. All in all dinner was a fun, filling, and flavorful experience.
Loved the plated dishes more than the Zermatt specialty raclette. The dishes were exquisite in appearance, preparation, & taste. The raclette was good, but would have preferred more classic sauces to go with it, such as Hollandaise or Mornay, instead of banana curry & dill, which didn't seem to fit. Shout out to the mushroom strudel & the carpaccio. My guess is that service is typically excellent because when there were two servers in the room, all was perfect. But one server was MIA for quite some time helping out in the main room, at which point there were looong waits for service. The interior of Chinook/Zermatt is beautiful & comfortable. Next time we will try the food served in the main room & the apple strudel.

We have been here a couple times and really enjoy it. It's a room within the bigger restaurant and no one is ever in there. Did the raclette, way better than fondue. The staff even recommend it over their fondue. The menu has changed slightly each time and hasn't been bad yet. Will conitinue to recommend until they screw something up.
Not thrilled with our visit. We were heading to a concert and had good experiences here before, so we thought we'd try again. Our server was a little preoccupied and we felt that her heart wasn't in it that day. The food was good, but the wait was long and the service didn't impress us.
Tried the raclette experience and it was OK. The temperature in the room seemed wrong the entire night (not well-regulated) and the music was too loud and obnoxious (unless the idea was to try to chase patrons away; some of the music seemed to be chosen for that purpose). The melted cheese experience is different and I might go back and do it again in several years, but it wasn't good enough to go back frequently. Service was OK to good, but the hostess doing the seating seemed to not know what was available, so the front of the house needs to improve.
