Chino Latino Ratings and Reviews
I will start by saying our server was very knowledgeable and attentive which is a must. The Pupu Platter was overpriced, the pineapple it was served with was delicious but the ribs were too saucy. My wife got the orange chicken and thank goodness it was lightly breaded however those to were too saucy so much so that the fried rice and the sauce from the orange chicken mixed together blending the flavor profiles for you which must would prefer to do that themselves. We had the tacos and jerk wings for an appetizer, no complaints there I would recommend those and get those again.
There's definitely an excellent balance with the portions/chicken prices. When you start moving away from there you start paying for the flare and presentation. I'm not hating on Chino Latino I definitely go back but I would stick to more of the appetizers and chicken and rice dishes.
Celebrated my mom’s 50th Birthday at Chino and the staff was excellent! They helped coordinate a flower arrangement at the table and made sure my mom didn’t try to pay as well. Very attentive and wrapped up our custom menus for us as well. Great experience and service.
Went for an early dinner to introduce sister in law that just moved to the cities..great service and the food came out quickly and was tasty..esp the sushi platter..drinks are always fun here too! I do think it's a little spendy for what you get but Chino Latino is a staple restaurant in Uptown..always fun to go to for the ambiance! Overall we had a fun night
We went to Chino Latino for a family Birthday celebration. When we arrived it was not busy and we were sat by the doors/windows in the front. We noticed right away it was really cold and you could feel a draft/breeze. The only other people in that section were a woman and a young girl and the woman signaled her agreement that they to were freezing. My oldest son(31 years) decided to go ask the hostess that sat us if we could be moved. He came and said she didn't seem to happy to move us. He said she would check and see if she could move us and to take a seat at the table and wait. When she did come to us, she mumbled something about the other tables were for parties of 10 or more. There were many other different sized tables available. It was a Sunday evening at 5:00pm. We had 7 guests. She begrudgingly moved us one more table up. Again, the whole area was empty except for a table of 2. She really had a bad attitude. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive to us. The food was excellent as usual. The hostess could use an attitude adjustment. When we left there were still numerous tables open that would fit our party.
The food was fantastic and our server was excellent. This restaurant does family style food so everyone can share. We order three entrees for four people and had lots of delicious leftovers. It is always loud so definitely not a quiet spot for a first date or chill anniversary but everything else makes up for it. The food also came out within about seven minutes and was hot and fresh. Definitely recommend.
Dinner was delicious and the service was excellent. We ordered a small plate and a large plate to share - 1) the Bulgogi Lettuce Wraps and 2) the lamb shanks with couscous. Food was outstanding - great spices. And our server was friendly and helpful. The only drawback (and it wasn't a dealbreaker) is that this restaurant is so very noisy that we couldn't hear each other from across the table. Oh, well - the people watching made it all worthwhile! LOL
Good food! But A really confusing menu… I know that’s their claim to fame - having two different styles of cuisines all at once presented in a really cool and hip fashion. I get that and it works. However I really think $28 is Way too much for a bowl of pulled pork with rice and beans.
I have been to Chino many times and was very disappointed on this particular visit. When we arrived the hostess staff was very dis-organized we waited 25 minutes beyond our reservation and no one was concerned about it. Our server who was admittedly new kept telling us such and forgetting lots of things, including bad wine and bill charges that weren't supposed to be. Our table was not clean and gross. Our food was not normal Chino quality and we were just not that impressed with the service this time around.
We love having a place we can go in the late evening with a group. Our favorite dish is the Dragon Lady Rice with pork. It's delicious! We always try to have a group of six to ten at the table so we can serve family style and have tastes of lots of different dishes.
The food was delicious. We drove up from Des Moines Iowa for business and weren't leaving until we ate here. The server was hands down the best server we had. Made sure my allergies were addressed in both food & drink choices. Will be back when we are in town for sure.
Atmosphere was great especially with Halloween celebrations during the weekend, but the service was quite horrible. Waitress slammed drinks on table, almost spilled wine, never asked for re-fills on drinks, food came out at different times. I received mine first, but waited 20 minutes for my fiance's plate to arrive and by than my food was cold and than the waitress had a pretty bad attitude and almost dropped bill and fortune cookies on floor as well as another table received hot towels and we didn't not sure if that is upon request or just given at end of meal to clean up. had RSVP at 8:45 PM, but didn't leave until 11:30 due to service being slow.
We had a great waiter, super nice and fun to chat with. We were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and came back to the restaurant that we went to for our wedding reception all those years ago. The food was flavorful and fun and we enjoyed getting to go out on a rare date night.
Server Emma is GREAT ! Very attentive and knowledgeable.
Food is fun and festive. Drink prices are very reasonable. Wine was six per glass and scotch was 7.
We were encouraged to get a small plate and a large plate item (everything is served family style). The one large plate was plenty for two of us (we got the big kahuna or some such thing).
Will go back for certain !
We arrived for our 5:45 PM reservation; and received immediate seating in a quiet corner. We beat the crowds and service was fast.
The table looked and felt dirty/sticky, but the waitress assured us the surface was worn, and she had wiped it herself. The quiet spot was less than attractive, the view behind the curtain revealed storage.
We ordered and shared Cuban fruit-seasoned pork. Served in a long bowl, with black beans rice, meat, and plantain chips; kind of in a pile. I found it bland, and ate half as much as expected. I have some in the refrigerator which I will likely toss.
While the meat was moist, it had very little taste; and was hard to find in the bowl. I had made the reservation for an out-of-town guest, and was expecting a terrific meal. That made my disappointment more intense. I'd hoped to show her the town and a great dining experience in Minneapolis.
I will not try to impress anyone else by taking them here.
Wide variety of Latin/Asian fusion items on menu. Food served to share and "comes out when each item is ready"--so be ready for your large plate of lo mein to arrive before the appetizer platter. Nice to be able to sample many items, but palate gets overwhelmed with spices and salt, salt, salt. Featured cocktails all run toward the overly sweet, and are on the overpriced side of the spectrum. So many other great choices in this town for asian and latin cuisine--don't think I'd come back here on my own, especially at these prices.
We go there all the time but usually for drinks and bar crew is great and always provides super service. Last weekend group of 8 friends went and our server was bit rude. On top of that, they brought food randomly when they really should serve all entrees to the group together. That's the purpose of having dinner together. 2 couples order same dinner items and they arrived to our table 20 mins apart. Doesn't make sense and mgr was not very helpful when we complained.
This place has stood the test of time. The food and service were excellent. The 45 minute wait with reservations was not. Then once seated they had put two of our party at another table. We squished and made it work and did not let that distract from our fun.
Went to visit my niece for the weekend and decided to try Chino Latino based on friends recommendations. It was packed when we got there for our 8:15 reservation on a Friday night. It was hard to find a place to stand while we waited for our table but we finally made it up to the bar and were able to find a spot and order some drinks. The bartender was very friendly and made some great drinks but it took us over 45 minutes to be seated at our table. This is much longer than I've ever waited at any restaurant when having a reservation. Once seated our server was very helpful. My daughter is vegan and so was our waitress so she told her what she could have on the menu. The atmosphere was very fun and there were lots of parties going on. Definitely a fun place to go for a special occasion. The food was very good but honestly not so over the top that I can't wait to go back.
I had the most horrible experience here. Our waitress continued to skip over our table while she continuously checked on others. We spoke with THREE managers voicing our concerns. Only one with long blonde hair was very sweet and attentive. The male with the gauges was a horrible manager and didn’t work to diffuse the situation but instead wanted to instigate an argument with us. I hope this was not a race issue however I can’t help but believe it might have been. The way the male manager acted when I was explaining the situation was completely inappropriate. When my white friend explained the situation he made eye contact and leaned in to listen to her concerns. Why does it take a while woman for the manager to suddenly find a heart? I called the restaurant the next day and asked to speak with someone higher up. They alerted me that they have a general manager and she would be giving me a call once she arrives. She never called me back. I will continue to call and call and CALL each day until I speak with someone. No one ever deserves to be disrespected the way I was on my own birthday. No one ever deserves to be treated as invisible. If there’s one positive, this incident reminded me of how important it is to continue to my Education as a law student. I’m sure if they knew the occupations of the people sitting at this table, we would’ve been treated COMPLETELY different. For a restaurant that sells food from a different culture they lack cultural competency and that is absolutely disgraceful to say the least.
