Chinato Ratings and Reviews
Very mediocre food along with the service we received. Gnocchi starter was well prepared with good flavor and texture. Tomato bread soup was dare I say terrible! Tasted like tomato sauce that belonged over a pasta dish- strange texture for soup and not good flavor at all. Entrees included brick chicken dish very bland and over cooked. Beef was just okay not memorable. Inexperienced servers led to overall disappointing dining experience. Will not return.
We made reservations months in advance to dine pre-concert. We arrived and we immediately asked to be done within 1 1/2 hours as there was another reservation for our table (which wasn’t a special request location table). We ordered and food was quickly prepared- we were given bill within an hour- we had to ask to have few minutes to order dessert. I’ve never felt rushed in finer dining so that was a disappointment- we told them we would be done within time frame to get to concert yet still felt rushed.
Very noisy....extremely rushed by waiter to order our meal. Asked us 3 or 4 times and we kept saying we are taking our time. Plus...the waiter never re poured our champagne after the first glass...my husband kept re-filling my friend and my glass. Appetizer was way to salty....told waiter and he did nothing. Food mediocre.
The hostess staff was very polite and professional from the time they greeted us to the time we exited. Very informative of wait times for our table and kept us updated. Our sever (Elliott) was exceptional. He answered all our questions about everything from the drink menu to the various appetizers to anything we were unsure about when ordering entrees. He made us feel at home and like a valued guest of the restaurant. He made sure we were doing fine several times throughout the service. The drink selection was great. The appetizer was amazing and our dinner was even better. Elliott recommended we finish the night with desert and coffee and Thank Goodness we listened because it was amazing as well. The place is a little pricey but you get what you pay for and definitely worth every dollar. Will surely return in the future. Thanks for everything.
The service was disappointing. After dropping off our drinks, our server disappeared for at least 15 minutes until we called him over to place our order. He never reviewed the specials with us. Overall, a disappointing experience given the mediocre service.
This was my first time at Chinatos. The restaurant week 3 course menu was a good way to sample the food. I had a great salad and the chocolate mousse cake...both were very good. The fish was great at the restaurant, but seemed rare and tough the next day. The service was good and attentive.
Our 14 year old son was with us and the menu was a little foody for him. He was a sport and tried something but didn’t like it. The waiter was great and had the chef whip up some fettuccini Alfredo (not on the menu) from scratch that my son loved. The commitment to customer satisfaction was fantastic. I highly recommend Chinato!
We were seated and it took at least a solid 10 minutes before we were greated and brought water. We were passed by so many bussers and servers without a single “we will be right there”. Finally our server came. He knew his dishes well and did a good job though.
It’s been a year since I’ve last been there but I used to go all the time. The food quality has definitely taken a turn for the worse. Three out of our 4 meals were below average and one was good. Not good value for the money. The drinks were pretty good though.
I think this is the last time I will come there. If I’m going to spend that kind of money, I’d rather go to Lola, greenhouse, red or any of the other restaurants around that area.
This is without a doubt my favorite restaurant in the Cleveland area. The food is absolutely amazing and in New York or Chicago would be three times the price. I love the ambience there is a great bar and staff was attentive. Unfortunately on this outing when our waitress asked if she could to camp or wine at the table she opened up an Argiano 1999 Brunello and simply dumped it in the carafe. My friend and I watched in horror as this was done unable to even say anything. On top of this she served us 2003’ Ch d’Yquem in Bordeaux glasses. Regardless both wine and the food were amazing and I will go back over and over again.
Next time I will give the waitstaff a bit of instruction before wine service.
We went in for a belated anniversary celebration, and just to get away from the kids. We ended up going during a cav’s game, and they held our reservation for us because we couldn’t find parking at first. Our waiter Ryan was kind and patient, explained everything we would want to know about the menu, the kitchen was amazingly fast getting the food out, it tasted amazing, and we ended up having a conversation with the next table over that just put everything over the top! Would highly recommend Chinato to anyone looking to get away!
The food was amazing! We loved everything! I would highly recommend the supli and the rabbit appetizer. I had the fig infused bourbon cocktail which was honestly one of the best drinks I ever had. Our waiter was great even though the restaurant was packed. I would highly recommend!
This was our first visit to Chinato, celebrating a birthday with my husband. We wanted romantic, Italian, and fun ambiance, and it checked all the boxes! Server Michael was helpful but gave us time to linger. Artichokes roman style were truly outstanding. Husband's bacon polenta with braised beef was amazing comfort food. Swordfish with olives was a small-ish portion but needed more bright flavors to really sing. Great wine list, especially Italian, although somewhat pricey. Prices were quite reasonable. We will be back!
