Delicious meal in a modern and engaging setting
Great place, great food
Great spin on traditional dishes. Worth going for sure.
While a bit on the pricy side, the quality of the food remains very high. This was our 2nd visit to China Live - our first since the city locked down in March, 2020 - and they did a great job. Everything we ordered was delicious: wok seared filet mignon, various dumplings - ALL good! Charred broccoli, fried rice with shrimp. Our server, Rafi, was very attentive and helpful with menu choices. Great service! Cocktails also very good.
Great food! Fun place! Missing a Navy Grog on cocktails list but otherwise outstanding!
Took about 30 minutes for our waiter to come to our table. I literally had to flag down a different waiter and ask him who our waiter was. Food was great once we were able to order.
Amazing. Incredible food. Slightly expensive but you get what you pay for here.
The food was great. The waiter was friendly but slow.
Good cocktails. 6/10
Really good food 7/10
Good service and experience. 7/10.
Way overrated. Dim sum soggy.
We had a really great dinner with a group of friends. Hostess was accommodating for some last minute additions to our table. The food was really good and came out in a good cadence
One piece of feedback - we were unsure of how much food to order and asked our waiter to give us some guidance and we ultimately way over-ordered on food which would have been nice to have been guided on. Especially since the waiter ended up adding more items to our original order based on the recommendation, we ended up taking about half of the food home. Would have just liked more clarity on ordering and dish sizes.
The food was amazing. The service was probably the worst I’ve had. For the price, I was hoping the service would be alright. It took an hour to get our food and they didn’t bring one of the items we ordered and then charged us for it. Our waiter came over to our table once over the 2.5 hours we were there.
Probably not going back, the food was great though.
Food was good and service was ok to start but quickly disappeared midway through dinner.
Even with fewer tables as the night progressed, our server was nowhere to be found for a solid 45mins+ while we were waiting on dishes still.
Then at the very end, we realised we had been missing our Dutch crunch buns that we had ordered at the start of dinner. We asked the server, who apathetically replied saying the station is closed so he’ll have to nix them but then a different server came by and dropped cold buns at the table with no explanation about it from our main server. Also, he was extremely rude about grabbing the check off the table and scuttled off and threw the check back on the table to be signed but ran off again.
Very disappointing. Must be hard to find good help these days in SF post pandemic.
Everything was fine. Nothing spectacular. Dumplings were very good though.
Great portions and quality!! The dessert pie was amazing too.
Get the calamari!
One of my favorite Chinese restaurants, we went twice while in town for 4 nights. Great portions & fair pricing
This is a really good place to experience Chinese food like most never have before. The service was great, and being able to see into the open kitchen and watch the chefs at work was a real treat. My wife and I shared a bunch of small plates and every dish was delicious. The cocktail program was also spot on. And don’t forget to check out the market before you leave! Beautiful space, special food- we’ll definitely be back.
Excellent Choice best Chinese in town highly recommend
Absolutely brilliant food ! Authentic elevated Chinese cuisine ! You can not miss this place if you come to San Francisco
Food quality unfortunately not good. And pricy too.
We had out of town friends, and China Live was an outstanding choice. They both commented that it was one of the best meals they'd ever had. You have things down, excellent service, friendly wait staff and welcome folks....it's one of my favorite SF spots.
Our reservations were at 5:45pm. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we were about 45 minutes late, and we could not reach the restaurant by phone to advise them that we were running late, but were on our way. The staff still, in this time of COVID restrictions for the number of occupants seated inside, gave us great seating inside. As usual, the food was delicious and very fresh. This is one of the best restaurants in the City.
Always a meal to delight and surprise - a pleasure to be able to sit down here again.
Amazing experience. All the food was phenomenal, staff were welcoming, accommodating, and generous. I will be back!
We sat outside, so it was nice and quiet out there. The service was amazing! Charles was great. We had a really nice time and enjoyed ourselves. It was a little pricey for the quantity provided but it was worth checking out and we definitely recommend it. The food was delicious!
Food was absolutely delicious, but our server forgot about us and we sat for a good 20 min before a busboy passed by and offered to wrap the leftovers. Waited another 15 min before our server came back, we asked for the check and skipped dessert.
This was my first ‘pandemic’ visit to China Live, having visited many time previously.
I felt like the food was not as ‘made-to-order’ as in the past... dishes were not thoroughly heated, and the prices were outrageous... over $400 for a casual dinner for 3-people.
Service was frantic, at best... they seemed short-staffed.
The ordering system of checking boxes on a piece of paper more closely resembled a cheap dim sum house across the street than an expensive full-service restaurant.
Yummy. It was a wonderful experience.
Service was awesome and great food. Would definitely visit again.
Great venue. Amazing food. Must stop restaurant.
We had a 9pm reservation and our server was really sweet to us despite our late arrival. The food was outstanding and our experience was fantastic! I wish I remembered the servers name but she deserves a promotion.
Omg - so good! We had the SJB pork dumplings, poached chicken dumplings, Peking duck in sesame pockets, crispy spicy Brussels sprouts, glazed pork ribs, Miso-Glazed Pan-Roasted Chilean Sea Bass, Hong Kong Wok-Fried Egg Noodles with Mushroom & Bok Choy with chicken and more. Though all the food was excellent , when we go again we will order all dim sum - it was outstanding! Enjoy
We came while San Francisco was just opening up from Covid. So the place was at maybe 25 to 50% capacity indoors. It's a huge and lovely space, with an open kitchen. I felt quite privileged to enjoy a fine meal in such conditions. Many thanks to the labours of all the cooks, staff, designers and craftsfolk that contributed to our experience. I suppose I should also thank the duck.
Excellent food..always a great place to visit...mixing some of their wonderful standbys..the green beans...vegetarian potstickers..with always changing new items like garlic noodles...This remains as the best Asian in SF
Was for my birthday, but staff did not even acknowledge or wish me well, or even a free dessert ???
Great service, excellent food and presentation, highly recommend!!
