Didn’t realize SF was doing Restaurant Week ‘til I got an email from ChinaLive. On a whim, we decided to give it a go and were very pleased with the assortment of dishes, not to mention the generous portions. Dessert (molten chocolate cake with matcha) was absolutely delicious! A perfect ending to a most delicious meal.
Excellent birthday dinner. The Duck was to die for
Favorite Chinese restaurant in SF. Great atmosphere and fantastic food. The Peking duck in sesame pockets is an absolute must have.
Temperature inside is cold!
Food was amazing!
Went here with my girlfriend for a nice dinner out and it was very nice! Portions for noodles and proteins were generous especially for two people. Service was okay, but it was also busy at the time. Overall, we had a great time and the food was great! Will definitely be coming back!
Great food, with exceptional service. If you’re in town, this is one of the places to visit.
great food and customer service! enjoyed the food.
Food was great! Best dumplings! They did a great job during COVID with the set up of the restaurant etc
Nice environment with an interesting variety of foods to choose from. Prices are steep, and the automatic 20% gratuity on top of it are off-putting.
When my friend and I went into China Live - it was a breathtaking place. Very beautiful decor and vibes. However - after 7 minutes of sitting, no one came to take our order. Then a tentative waiter came and took our order, which he messed up... bad. I was told the duck was actual piece of duck but it came in buns, I ordered green tea but never got it (after asking 3 times). My friend ordered the Kung Pao chicken without peanuts and tamarind sauce on the side - the dish came out with peanuts and no sauce on the side. We reordered the dish and the second time, it came out with no kung pao sauce at all or tamarind sauce on the side. We spoke to the manager after the first set of mistakes and he made it seem like we were complaining but we were respectful consumers and the service was subpar. After all the fuss, we both had garlic noodles and the scallion buns which were okay. The manager ended up taking off the scallions buns our bill but honestly, he should've taken off the drink (my friend got a Mai Tai) as well. It was a very not pleasurable dining experience.
Can’t beat China Live food & ambiance. Always feels like a special occasion. The soup dumplings are a thing of beauty. And during COVID, they’ve taken over the shop to create more space
Absolutely delicious! We were visiting SF and went two nights in a row. That good!!!
The food was ok, was really expensive for what it was.
I loved it! The food was excellent, I will be back!
Great food and service! Music was a little too loud but it did not affect our time there.
This was the first time I had been to China Live since it opened and I was really disappointed.
I thought the food was really ordinary. It was too heavy, too oily and could have been any Chinese restaurant.
The wine was not very good for the price and it was really expensive. I will not be going there agin unless they raise their standards higher.
They did a great job with social distancing the tables. We felt very comfortable.
Great food and service. The waiter helped us pick out some great dishes. I especially liked the dumplings
We had a great time. Outstanding service by the bus people. We never had to ask to get our drinks refilled or plates cleaned off. Very attentive
Both the food and service was excellent. Even at 25% capacity due to Covid restrictions, it’s still very noisy making conversation challenging at times.
Some of the best Chinese food we’ve had in a long time. Very friendly staff and nice clean environment. We will definitely be back.
Completely different experience compared to previous visits. Service was sub par as they auto-grat the tab from the get go. Server touched table only 3 times during our entire visit.
Food was underwhelming and many dishes under seasoned or off balance. Cocktails same.
Check was $75/pp and I don’t remember any dish that stood out.
Great service and food; thank you!
The food was cold and noodles were over cooked. Not expecting to eat duck that has bone with my hands because they don’t give you a knife. The best part of the meal with the old fashioned.
great interesting food. amazing service fantastic drinks and shopping to boot!
Lovely staff! Amazing food! Great and spacious ambiance! Just fabulous & fun 100%. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Food was amazing and the experience was so fun!
Fabulous food! Every time we go, we order more dishes than we can eat because it's so fun to try different things and they all work well as leftovers. My favorites are the Kurobuta Pork, the vegetarian fried rice, the Xiaolong Bao and the beef noodle soup. They also have great service.
Expensive but oh so worth it! Best dim sum ever
I went here after my promotion at work and the service was amazing and the food quality was amazing and honestly the whole ambience of the restaurant is amazing
So yummy! Outdoor dining can be hard with tiny tables. We ate family style and they brought the food out one at a time so nothing got cold! It was so delicious...I can't wait to go back!
Excellent outdoor dining experience in these Covid times. I would go back again.
Eating outside food gets cold v quickly. Don’t hang about!!
Amazing food, service and ambiance at China Live. Highly recommended!
Friendly, knowledgeable, attentive service, as always! Food was delicious and managed to stay hot even though we ate outside on a chilly evening. The parklet seating was charming, with nice lighting, adequate distancing and space heaters. IMO the price/value is just right for a special occasion.
We sat outside bc of the pandemic, so it wasn't as exciting as sitting inside, but the food was incredible. We did have a one hour time limit on our seats, so we had to eat quickly, but we made the best of it and know this quick hustle eating will ultimately help George Chen (the amazing owner behind this China Live concept) to turn more tables during this pandemic so we were happy to hustle. We want our SF restaurants to make it during these hard times so it was ALL worth it!!! We had dim sum and the peking duck sliders, truly amazing.
The food was delicious! Industry friends always raved about China Live and we finally had the chance to try it out. The flavors were wonderful. Our server was attentive and although we are limited to a specific amount of time per Covid guidelines we never felt rushed. We will be back!
