We really enjoyed our first experience here and the restaurant's take on Peruvian/Asian fusion. Staff was kind, manager came to check. Even a post-dining email. Would definitely dine here again and try some of the other tasty dishes!

I returned to China Chilcano after a previous visit a few days past because I love the cuisine and service. Cocktails are also superlative. Convenient to all activities in Penn Quarter.

The food is really amazing! We really love the Lomo Saltado and the fried rice in hotpot. A little slow in the service but forgivable given the volume of people. Would recommend this restaurant

China Chilcano always pleases with outstanding, creative fusion cuisine and friendly service. The pisco sours, chilcanos, and wine list are superlative. Perfect for a nice meal before an evening in the Penn Quarter theatre and entertainment district!

One of the best dinners we've had in D.C. Excellent, tasty food and attentive service. Our total bill came out to much higher than we thought, but that's what we get for trying so many dishes. We'd definitely go back.

Expected more from a Jose Andres restaurant. Food was decent but not great. Definitely not worth the price tag. Portions were small. Acoustics at this place were terrible, server and guests struggled communicating. Lighting is somewhat predominantly yellow and not pleasant to be at, although this couldve just been my tables locations. Overall i’d say try going to any other of the restaurants Jose Andres has to offer in DC.

The food was delicious but it has been a long time since I had service at a restaurant as bad as I did this evening. The waiter had an attitude with us the entire time and made us feel like we were a burden to him. Extremely unprofessional and it would be best for both him and the restaurant if he exited the service industry. This definitely took away from the food and drinks and overall I’m not sure if I would return.

An amazing introduction into Chef Andres’ repertoire of flavorings and Peruvian cuisine! If you can - definitely request the Chilcano tasting menu - a perfectly paced 10 course tour of the menu & flavors! We ordered a chilcano each - but added a different macerados to make a unique cocktail to our own cocktail flavor palette! A must do and repeat - we’ll be back!

For ease in decision-making we purchased the “sabores de Mexico” menu at $48 pp and we should have just ordered a la carte because most things felt rushed in the plating or delivery, some tasted old/bad (the guacamole had a fermented “buzz” to it; we sent it back and what came out as a replacement was wildly different and more fresh, delicious), or were clearly recycled, such as the churros which were a potato chip consistency and obviously triple fried (one of my guests literally spit out her churro saying, “this tastes like straight fryer oil”). For the money we spent it was an incredibly disappointing meal. I usually don’t take the time to write these kinds of reviews but our complaints in person were met with no action or resolve — with the exception of the guac, which was plopped down by a food-running manager without comment. We spent hundreds of dollars and left annoyed … not a great experience!

We did the taste menu and it was so much food but honestly, all delicious! The cocktail pairings were also absolutely beautiful and tasty! So many flavors and such unique combinations of cuisines! Bravo! Another amazing experience at Jose Andres restaurants! Highly recommend 😊

I went with two friends for lunch and we all really liked our meals. My friend, who isn't adventurous when it comes to food and was afraid it would be too spicy, loved the stir fry chicken with Kung Pao sauce. I usually get the aeropuerto which is very good but decided to try the chow mein noodles. I'm really glad I did, they were delicious. I only wish the noise level in the restaurant was lower.

Like most experiences engineered by future Nobel Laureate Jose, CC is spectacular. The food is fascinating -- full of surprise fusions and expertly delivered. The unexpected highlight: Yuca fries served with ribbons of sauce and topped with pork so thinly sliced it was nearly fluffy. It vibrated with small air movements. The luscious -- and by that I mean lush + delicious -- lomo saltado packed its fries at the bottom. Creative cocktails too.
