What Insiders Are Saying
Jose Andres’ new place isn’t quite up to the level of his other spots, but it’s a fun time for Peruvian, Japanese, and Chinese fusion.
Incredible food, wonderful service and a lovely room
We had a wonderful brunch! Great service and lots of delicious small plates to share...can’t wait to go back and try more!
This is one fusion restaurant that lives up to the hype. Very creative offerings that don't stray so far from the originals that they are working too hard. Very good drinks, as well. Great brunch place.
I was surprised by how kid-friendly the menu is. My four year old and nine-month old enjoyed the yucca fries, pork buns, and a savory fried rice dish.
A fusion cuisine experience of Peruvian, Chinese and Japanese food. Innovative dishes that are a treat for the taste buds. Service is quick and attentive as well.
Drove there from Chantilly, VA for a special dining experience for Father's day. It definitely met my expectations.
The food and the service were excellent, just wish we had discovered it earlier.
BEST dim sum I’ve ever had and the dessert - OMG. I’ve eaten at many of Jose’s restaurants and they never disappoint !!! Delicious - we’ll be back !
Food is always interesting. Service can be spotty and ambiance a bit noisy
Outstanding flavors and presentation!
Truly enjoyed the food and will be coming back for sure!
Ceviche plates are great. The perfect for the table is platable! They have tables with a lazy susan for groups.
The ambivalence is hyper, sometimes I have to scream while I was talking to my friends who were sitting at another side of the table.
My son and I had Sunday brunch. We ordered HaKao dim sum and octopus ceviche and both were excellent. I also recommend the Chicha Mirada. I will go again.
Neither Chinese nor Peruvian but somehow both at the same time. It's uniqueness is what makes it delicious.
I celebrated my birthday here and everything from the food to service to ambience made it a great party. The price is affordable, within a college student’s budget so, I would absolutely comeback.
Great for dates or a night out with a friend! Small plates keep coming and get you full fast! Soup dumplings are the best!!!
This was my fourth or fifth time at China Chilcano. The food has been consistently excellent. The highlight this time was the octopus ceviche. The biggest surprise with the chicken thighs. I don’t usually care for chicken thighs, but the spices they used made them amazing. My only complaint was that it was loud enough that it was a bit difficult to hear the people at my table.
Meal was great. We did the tasting menu...everyone left full and the chef did a great job selecting dishes. Only complaint was I wish they had asked if the table built down into a hole (not sure how to describe it) was acceptable before seating us there. This was a business meal and it was awkward asking clients to climb in and out of the table...especially females in dresses.
Fantastic Peruvian food, efficient and friendly service in a stylish setting. The noise level was a bit too high, but overall it was a great dining experience.
We went on recommendation by the friends of our daughter and we also read about it online. The food was good. Interesting taste. We took the set-lunch which was a good value.
The pulpo with olive cream and avocado was delicious; yucca fries the best I’ve had. The Peruvian dessert was delicious—don’t share! Consistently excellent food and service from beginning to end, it was fantastic to receive a reasonable check at the end!
The funky atmosphere and awesome menu made this a fun experience to share with friends. The yucca potatoes are delish and I highly recommend the sangria. Many good small plates to share so try a bunch.
The food was delicious and the service was great! I had the aeropuerto which was delicious and the maracuya (passion fruit) drink which was amazing!
We LOVED our meal at China Chilcano. Great staff, delicious food, and perfect seating. We had indicated it was our 40th wedding anniversary on the reservation. From the moment we walked in the door to the complimentary dessert with candles, we were treated very well.
Fantastic food, incredible drinks, and excellent service!
I heard about the restaurant through a YouTuber and thought I’d give it a shot. Very happy with the food and fusion ideas. I would recommend this.
Every single thing we tried was amazing - drinks, plates, desserts. Wait staff helped us make selections. Heads up that it's loud, so not a place for intimate conversation. A wonderful food adventure!
All of the dishes we ordered were very good. The wait staff were knowledgeable and attentive. Overall a very nice dining experience. Will definitely go back!
The Chef’s Tasting Menu dinner is fantastic!
Ceviche was bland. Shrimp soup has the consistency of paste. Peppers and purple drink were both delish, tho.
This was my first time and I wasn't really impress with service or food, if someone would ask me mmm I would probably not sure to recommend it.
Visiting for the Holiday weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The flavor mix of Asian and Peruvian proved to be a very accessible profile for our family. Drinks and food spanned the range from familiar to exotic, sweet to spicy. What a treat! Only regret is that we don't have an outpost of the restaurant/chef in our local area.
Our otherwise great meal was spoiled by an inattentive, uncaring server.
Jose Andres clearly cares that his diners have a good experience, even beyond his amazing food. Impeccable service from well-trained wait staff combines with design touches that improve style and ambiance while also dampening noise so the restaurant isn't as loud as some warehouse-style places make coming here a real treat. Sometimes fusion food falls flat, but not here. China Chilcano is fantastic!
We enjoy Peruvian food and the testing menu was a good choice. Still a popular place after being open several years. If you want anything less than loud, stay far away from the bar.
The food was cold. Service was just ok. We had to find them once it was served.
On vacation in the city and wanted to try one of Jose Andres restaurants. We’re fans of Chinese Peruvian cuisine, so this was a natural choice. The gratis chips and toasted corn was a nice surprise and not skimpy! We decided on the tasting menu because there were too many things to choose from. 8 savory courses and dessert. A great variety including ceviche, won tons, chicken salad, fried rice and shrimp and potatoes in a sweet potato purée. We were so full we asked the waitress to pack the last savory dish, lomo saltado, to go! Highly recommend making reservations because this place is delicious!
One of my favorite restaurants, and I travel quite a bit. For some dishes the portions are small... but the taste is always incredible!!!! This time I had the Fish Soup which was amazing! My partner had the noodles... vey tasty albeit small. My daughter had the fried rice and said this wa the best fried rice she had ever tasted. My husband and I both had "el Capitan" an amazing Pisco drink with sour cherries.
This place is fine but nothing exciting, and not s particularly good value for the money. There are plenty of better places in the area to dine in.
There was a horse fly that staff did nothing about and ended up in my wine glass, cocktails were excellent, food was great, seating wasn’t exactly the greatest.
We had a great meal. We shared several small plates but larger single servings also available. Very creative menu which is coded by what type of cuisine it was (Chinese Japanese or Peruvian ). Can’t wait to go back for dim sum specials on Tuesdays!
delicious food, beautiful space, excellent service, great time
