Delicious. 5 of us shared too much food and got to taste a ton which was the best way to do it.
Pisco sours were awesome!
Our experience at China Chilcano was mixed. We ordered from the Dim Sum Tuesday menu, and several items were excellent (the veggie one in particular), while others were okay but nothing special (the tradicional and the chicken). We shared the two chocolate desserts on the menu and both were fabulous - definitely worth the calories. Service was rather slow and inattentive, even before the restaurant became busier.
Wow. The Lunch in an Hour special is off the charts. Don't forget to finish your meal with suspira limena - it's life changing.
Loved this restaurant! Our server was so helpful. All that she recommended was delicious.
My son came to D.C. from California for his sixtieth birthday, and being an enormous fan of Jose Andres I chose one of his restaurants. My daughter had also extolled the virtues of the Suspiro Limone dessert, and it certainly lived up to its star billing. The who family had a lovely night at China Chilcano.
Had the Cuban rice and it was a mix of really dry ingredients that did not work together. No flavor.
Had the tasting menu and, as usual, it was outstanding! Excellent food, service and ambience!
Great food and ambience!
This was our second dinner at China Chilcano and again it was wonderful. We started with a pitcher of the signature Chilcano cocktail which is quite tasty. Then our group of four shared several dishes including: blistered shishitos, ají de gallina, aeropuerto with chicken, and several others I can't remember. All were delicious and we will definitely be back next time we are in DC
Excellent and different food. A lovely and unique experience. Seviche was weakest - lacked acid, but was otherwise good. Lamb potstickers and duck noodles were fabulous. Good option for Shakespeare theater patrons!
We had a great time. The food was delicious and tasty we loved the variety and flavors. The service was on point and the servers etc were friendly and informative
Our server was great. He walked us thru the menu and checked on us multiple times to make sure we were satisfied. The food (a catfish bun and the aueroporto) and drinks (horchata and Peruvian Nariinal drink) was also good. The bun was tasty, but had too much onion for my liking. The aueroporto was also tasty with lots of veggies, but the overall flavor was a little too mild for my liking. This was second time at CC and I didn’t think I’d return after the first time, but the second time changed my mind.
Ordered the three course lunch and it was tasty & authentic Peruvian fare in substantial quantity. Will return!
Truffle Specials and Dim sum Tuesday was delicious!
Loved the anticucho mushroom. The sausages in the Concolon had a strong, terrible flavor, it was otherwise okay. Not amused by the desserts. My friend and I were often interrupted by the staff "checking in" on us. The ambiance and the noise level were perfect to hold a deep conversation; that was greatly appreciated. I am a fan of Jose Andres's charitable work so I'll give this another try.
The food and service were fantastic! The pisco sours tasted just like Peru! And the decor is fabulous. Very fun and vibrant atmosphere. Loved it!
First and foremost, the service was amazing! Wonderful!!! The food was really really bad. I can't believe how mediocre it was. It was a special occasion for my son and me and as much as we wanted to like it, we didn't.
Interesting menu but difficult to select from if unfamiliar with the cuisine. Delicious cocktails!
Great service. Fun atmosphere. Delicious Pisco Sour. Interesting menu. Yucca Fries were disappointing. Not served hot enough and just too many things going on at once. Other items were good but nothing amazing. I would give them another try on the strength of the service and that Pisco Sour.
We always order soup dumplings and other dim sum. This was the first time that we had dessert - do not miss the condensed milk, meringue (first on the menu) dessert! It was delicious
Made a reservation and didn’t get seated for 40 minutes past the reservation time. No good place to stand and wait.
Our waitress was excellent . Kind, courteous and a great smile.
While in town for business, this restaurant came recommended to my group - we loved the cool and funky menu and had serious trouble deciding what to order! Don't skip dumplings as appetizer! And the sauce on the Yucca fries were YUH-ME. Our only downside was we ordered dessert and it was never delivered. Waiter thought it had been sent to us long before we gave up on waiting it out. Great service and a fantastic menu!
Service is consistently inattentive and forgetful every time I’m there which has been several times. Of the food wasn’t so superb I would never go back.
Loved the food. Our waiter was very nice and helpful. It was a very nice night out
This was out of my comfort zone but I absolutely loved everything—one of my new favorite restaurants in DC! The Pulpo Anticuchero was heavenly!!
Food was not good. Pricey. Service wasn’t great. Hate the coupon sales pitch at the end.
Excellent food and service. I highly recommend China Chilcano!
AMAZING FOOD! Absolutely loved the cauliflower!
Going in I was a little unsure about the Asian - Peruvian fusion idea, but it was great. Good options for the vegetarians in our group too.
When you make a reservation for two, the odds of getting a table not in the middle of the noise is much better. Our food was delicious, and our waitress never let our water glasses be empty. We enjoyed the meal very much thanks to the table placement !
Very expensive for small portions... the food was good, just wish the value was a little better.
Fabulous!!!!!! I loved everything about it. The chili dumplings were amazing.
A busy Saturday afternoon but we scored a booth table overlooking 7th Street. Great start! Lots of innovative drinks and eats to try. Fish soup was outstanding as was the dim sum, first time we tried that here. A few misses - yucca fries was hardly a small plate as advertised and I did not care for the dressing. Jalea Mixta turned out all to be deep fried, least interesting way to present some very good seafood. Service was great, attentive and cheery. But my is this place crowded and noisy - be aware if you decide to go!
The food was great as usual, but our server was terrible. He was inattentive even though he was not overly busy. This was not typical for China Chilcano. Very disappointing.
We went for Valentine’s Day, and it was more crowded than usual, but we were happily surprised by how quickly we were seated for our reservation and how quickly our food came out after we ordered. The service, as always, was wonderful. It says a lot that the staff was able to provide the usual high quality experience, even on a busy holiday night. This is why we keep coming back again and again. It’s hard to find such great food service at other DC restaurants!
Valentine's Day tasting at $85/person was GREAT value!
Excellent service on a busy Valentine's Day! Food is always interesting and innovative. Cocktail menu is excellent! Great choice for pre-theater or before events at Capital One Arena.
I'm a big fan of Jose's restaurants. Tasting menu on valentine's day was worth it price.
Sadly we were seated in those horrible and uncomfortable industrial metal chairs that are in every funky/artisanal/fusion/boho/quirky/urban restaurant up and down the east coast. There were probably Edison bulbs over the bar, but I was on the other side of the restaurant.
Anyway, enjoyed the food and hats off to the kitchen and waitstaff---Feb 14 is hard and they did a great job
Great service and great food!
