Chimayo Ratings and Reviews
Chimayo is an exceptional restuarant for a perfect evening alone with a loved one or out with friends. The food never disappoints. They say you eat first with your eyes; Chimayo proves this is the rule and not the exception. The waitstaff breath customer service and make sure every need is met.
There are many nice restaurants in Park City, but Chimayo has the perfect combination of customer service, ambiance, lovely food and excellent staff.
We are locals and this is a favorite! Always tasty, interesting combinations. Favorites are duck, calamari, trout fajitas. Great menu of margaritas. Summer specials are great. Winter makes Chimayo the coziest space. Make a reservation so you can be seated on the ground level.
I had not been to Park City and to Chimayo for several years. This restaurant has always been one of my top ten. It was every bit as excellent as I remember it. We dined there on Halloween which was an extra treat with the staff in costumes. It is a NOT to be MISSED while you are in Park City.
Apps were great. Food is way over priced, quality is good I guess though. Server was attentive but possibly the most un-friendly host staff I've ever seen..almost uncomfortably so. Almost seemed hostile towards us. Did not acknowledge our occasion at all, it was a special group occasion and stuffed a large group in the tightest spot when downstairs was empty. Will not return, which is a shame.
My wife's birthday dinner was at Bill White's Southwest place, Chimayo. After the dinner we had at his Italian place Grappa the night before I was a little worried but I shouldn't have been. Chimayo was AWESOME! From the moment we sat down, everything was perfect. We got a primo table, a super server, our margaritas were to die for, my appetizer (an incredible ceviché) was perfect. Kathleen raved about her tortilla soup. We took pics of all the food because it was so damn good. When our server heard me wish Kathleen a happy birthday, she took it upon herself to make sure we had a special dessert that was on the house. The manager even came by to check on us. Oops, I forgot to mention the main course which were also DELICIOUS! I had elk and my wife had the halibut. Go look at their menu and tell me you don't want to eat there now. If you ever go to Park City, this is the place to eat. I can't remember when I last fell so full. And it was just about the same $$$ as Grappa (about $260 with tip for two drinks, two appies, two entrées and a comped dessert) but so much better. This is what a meal that costs that much should be like. One I will remember for quite a while.
We eat here about 2x a year, and the food is consistently very good. This past weekend, we had the ceviche app for the first time - it was beautifully flavored and I'd recommend to anyone. Scallop, elk, and duck dishes and sangria never disappoint. We enjoy the ambiance of the place - it's low-lit, cozy, and comfortable.
My favorite park city restaurant for years. Consistent and amazing high quality food, service, drinks and atmosphere. The food is creative, but solid, and the wait staff are professionals. Every time I have been here, I am highly satisfied with the entire evening, from drinks to dessert. Makes me look good when entertaining friends.
We had the dine-about meals as well as a ceviche appetizer. However everything tasted almost the same (except for the corn chowder). All the food was heavily seasoned with the same chili powder and did not let the real flavors come through.
We were very disappointed and will likely NOT return for quite some time (if ever). This is sad because this used to be a go-to place for us.
Great menu! We were there during the Park City Dine around and each of us 6 had a three course meal for $40. Well worth it, delicious food and layers of flavors. The drink menu was also extensive and varied. The mushroom quesadilla was delicious as was the salmon, the halibut and corn popper!
Our experience was mixed. The food was OK not great, the food styling was weirdly reminiscent of the early 90s (towering plates with spiky inedible garnishes) and it just felt like the kitchen wasn't trying.....and even for Main Street, the pricing is ridiculously high. ($49 for ribs, really??!) I would probably be less critical if the prices were more in line with the quality that's being offered. I hate to say this, but this has been generally our recent experience at Bill White's restaurants. I know they can do better!
However, our server was adorable and efficient, and the Santa Fe-ish atmosphere is warm and festive.
the downstairs searing really detracts from the experience. it's cramped, dark, and there is very little space. constantly being bumped by waiters and patrons. the food was disappointing. I've eaten at chimayo many times and always had a good experience before so maybe it was just an off night, but the ribs were dry and bland. the calimari was tasteless.
Food presentation and taste was on point! The calamari was the most tender calamari we've ever had. The elk London broil was amazing. The mussels were large and in charge. Crab and corn chowder is delicious, but heavy. The salmon was also great We'd skip the elk app next time.
I've eaten at this restaurant numerous times and must say it can always compete for being the top restaurant in Park City. Great unique Utah dishes such as Elk , Bison, or trout (among other great options) with an upscale southwest flare. Hard to go wrong with anything on the menu and truly one of the very best and most unique restaurants in park city. Julie and the rest of the Chimayo crew are always very friendly and welcoming. If you find yourself in Park City looking for a fantastic authentic meal don't miss Chimayo!
Another great dinner at Chimayo! Everyone of our party of six had a great dinner. We had several different appetizers or salads and entrées. Everything was outstanding. The Crab and Corn Chowder was exceptional. I enjoyed the Duck Enchilada. Prices are consistent with the better Park City restaurants and using the Bill White two for one coupons made the price very reasonable, again for Park City.
