Chima -Tysons Corner Ratings and Reviews
Me and my family love chima I been going to chima for the past 5 years almost every week. I live in Mclean so it's convenient for me when my family/ guest come to visit me from overseas I like to bring them to chima because of the food. But the past one year I stopped going because of a bad service of the front disk people unprofessional service. They are very rude and not welcoming at all. One year I been going to fogo which they have excellent front disk people.
My husband and I made reservations for a busy night, Valentines Day. We have had horrible experiences in the past during this holiday with other restaurants being that it can be so busy, crowded, and overwhelming for staff which ultimately leads to a lack in customer service. We didn't experience that here. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. The staff and waiters were very accommodating and wanted to assure we had a great Valentines date despite being a busy night. I praise those servers and staff who go above and beyond to ensure their guests are being taken care of, despite being a busy night for the Valentines occasion. We will definitely return. Not to mention the food was spectacular!
We went on valentines day so of course waiters and waitresses were extremely busy. I guess you could say we were forgotten for about 30 min but upon requesting our waitress, she was there in less than 2 min. Overall, definitely loved eating here . Everyone from the hostess to the dudes with the meats, were an absolute pleasure. Will be going back for sure!
I am happy with the food; however I did feel like we were forgotten many times. We went to celebrate my husband's birthday and it was nice for the server to bring us a desert with a candle in it however, we were told someone will come to light up the candle and that person never showed up. I also felt like we were waiting too long for the men to make their rounds to our table. On a positive note, our picture turned out nice and it was a nice memory to receive.
Unfortunately not the best experience. We got stuck sitting at a very bad table location and the service just didn't seem as on point as expected. Also went on February 10th which happens to be during a promotion and never received the promised dinner card for future visit.
Overall disappointing. I’ve enjoyed Fogo and Texas De brazil much more for ambiance and quality of food. The lamb shank was way too salty and the pork and chicken were both terribly dry. The beef ribs were outstanding, but I can get those at Mission BBQ for way less. The drinks were only mediocre for the price. Worst of all, the salad bar was so lackluster compared to the other restaurants of this type. Even the sides were off and left at our seats without explanation. The servers were helpful when they came by, but that was much too infrequent and my water only got filled once when I asked. We won’t come here again.
Had eaten here before and enjoyed it. This experience was not as good. The meat servers rarely came to our table, at other similar restaurants I usually can’t keep up with them but here had to request them multiple times before they came over. Not worth the price.
We were there to celebrate one of our friends’ birthday dinner. I suggested going there because I had been to this location once before and I had a great experience all around. However, this time, the experience was far from perfect. A few minutes after arriving, I noticed that the lamb chop server kept passing us (I love lamb chops). I signaled him to come to our table. Once he did, he handed me a completely raw lamb chop when I asked for a medium temperature one. That’s not really an issue since I know it can be hard to tell sometimes. But, I couldn’t eat it because it was absolutely raw. When I asked for another one, he had the nerve to call me out and point out the one I had not eaten. I explained that it was completely raw. Not until I showed him the rawness did he actually hand me another one. There were a couple of other things that happened which I will not delve into. Main point being that all my friends remembered that particular server giving me a hard time over a single lamb chop. I have been to Fogo de Chao easily more than a dozen times within the past year and I have never had such experience. I really wanted to like this one and make it my regular upper class dinner stop. I’m reconsidering.
We had never come for dinner after 6pm at Chima's but this night we came at 8:15. The restaurant was packed and the waiters and servers were slow because of how many people were dining. We love Chima's so needless to say we'll be back but we'll stick to our early dinners.
I was a little disapointed this time (3rd time). Food was excellent, but the service wasn't. It took them 50 minutes to bring us a second type of meat, which was frustrating. I understand the restaurant was busy at that time and it was the last day for 'Restaurant Week' deal, but my family and I were just sitting there waiting the entire time. We didn't want to get too full with the salad bar, so we just sat and waited patiently. Usually, they bring a different type of meat every 2 minutes or so based on my previous experience. Hope it doesn't happen again!
I have been in Chima several times before and it was always the best but last Friday. . I had a horrible experience we had to wait for meet 15 min every time they only brought it twice. The quality of the meat. was very poor. Very very bad experience on my birthday. So sorry that I picked Chima.
I’ve made reservations through the app and reminded the hostess that it’s my wife’s birthday. When seating us, I reminded our waiter that it’s my wife’s birthday. After the meal, he just came over and gave us the check. I’ve hosted our corporate dinners for the holidays and occasionally friends’ birthdays for the last 5 years at this location. Never had I been treated this way and rushed out so quick. They didn’t even give us our cake or picture. We just wanted to leave at this point. Don’t think we’ll visit again and we’ll be moving our corporate dinner some place else but at least the food was great as usual.
I reserved a table for sunday dinner at 7:45 pm. When I arrived with my wife I was told by the front hostess that they were running behind on there reservations. Why have a reservation then if you have to wait anyway when you get to the resturant. 20 mins later we were seated. We went for resturant week so the menu was limited of how much meat you can have. I asked one of the Waiters if I could try the fish, he said yes I can. While waiting for the fish another waiter had a plank full of fish and was servicing it to the table next to me. I asked the server can I have some fish. He turned back to me and said no pay no fish. Another waiter who was at my table asked him to put some fish on my plate he told him no pay no fish. The other waiter then told me he was new and didnt know that the fish was not part of the resturant week menu. My wife made fun of me all night saying "NO Pay No Fish". The food is good, the service was not. If your looking for great food and decor and outstanding services, I would highly recommend Texas De Brazil restaurant.
The food and overall dining experience was wonderful, however, our initial seating experience was very disappointing. After booking a reservation and confirming via phone earlier in the day, we arrived at the restaurant 5-10 minutes before our 6:45 reservation. We were informed they were still sitting the 6:30 reservations and it would be a few minutes. Completely understanding, we had a seat at the bar to wait for our name to be called. After many other groups were called and 40 minutes later, we decided to approach the host where we were informed our name was not on the list. I understand that timing can be pushed back (especially in the circumstance of restaurant week) but the fact that I confirmed out reservation, checked in, and then was told we were not on the list was more than frustrating. Had we not checked on the status, we would have been left waiting in the bar area with no intention of seating us. After we were seated (around 7:25 although the reservation was for 6:45) the service and food was phenomenal. Too bad the initial experience left a bad taste in our mouths.
We enjoyed a leisurely Sunday lunch during Restaurant Week. First the unpleasant stuff. We were led to believe that our lunch would cost $22, as was the case at other restaurants . However when we got our bill, we saw a charge of $35 per person, significantly higher than advertised. We inquired and were told that in fine print online, they stated the $22 only applied to lunches, Monday through Friday. Shame, Chima should then have advertised their special as a weekday, not weeklong promotion. The good stuff: this is a beautiful spacious restaurant with elegant touches. The appetizers were unusual; fried plantain and beef croquettes were tasty. The salad bar was extensive with lovely items like heart of palm, tabbouleh, and roasted eggplant-all very good. As for the meat dishes, the tastiest for me were the garlic sirloin and the leg of lamb. My spouse said the chicken was dry and the pork likewise. The chocolate mousse was the best part of our meal; it was splendid.
