   We had booked a table for 2 well ahead and were placed at the very back of the restaurant near an exit. We ordered the fish platter for 2 to share. The fish was a bit overcooked and cold. The potatoes were hot and there was a lovely salad as well. The serving was generous. We mentioned that it was cold and were given a complimentary glass of wine each. I think a bottle was warranted to be honest. Wouldn't return for dinner again based on this meal unfortunately.

   Unusual menu. Starter / entre items too similar to the main courses and not suitable for sharing. Quite expensive for what the menu offers.

   This restaurant promised more than it delivered. The staff were obliging, but the service was slow. The menu was more sophisticated in print than in reality. I do, however, credit Chifley’s Bar and Grill as one of a handful of restaurants open on a Monday public holiday.

    The initial service was excellent and th e main course arrived very quickly But the potatoes were very hot and the unexpected vegetables were only luke warm. The confit de canard was stringy and tough. There were two marylands but quantity is no substitute for quality. When we had eaten our mains we waited and then tried to attract the attention of a waiter, but they were all “too busy”. After 15 mins I finally called for service with a hand clap. The pavlova was far too large and lacked sufficient fresh fruit. In short, a great disappointment from a hotel with a fine history.

    Had to find staff to even get a menu. That seemed like a hassle as they were all stuffed away. Then had to wait ages to order. Disappointed that you’ve also taken way the three course lunch special

    The best thing was the service which very polite and friendly. They obviously wanted us to have things just how we wanted them. My wife and Mum liked their salmon salads. My steak was pretty good though though not revelatory and quite dear for what it was. The coffee was okay though the cups were very small. The ambience is a matter of taste. I chose to book to dine there because of its historical associations. There are certainly pictures of past Prime Ministers about the place. However the renovations have gone for a generic hotel ambience. It would in my view have been preferable to retain more of the look of the place as it would have been in the olden days even if it were a bit rough around the edges. But that’s just my opinion. Some might prefer the slick modern hotel look.

    When we arrived for our confirmed reservation we discovered that the venue was closed for a private function so we were relocated to a small room within the hotel that had been set up for the night to cater for the restaurant bookings. We would have preferred that they had not accepted online reservations or had at least informed us that we would not be dining in the actual bar/dining area. Staff in the makeshift dining area were friendly but service was very slow and food was average. Had to wait a long time between courses. I think their main focus was on the private function in the bar/restaurant

    We ordered the mixed grill. The meat was cooked perfectly. The sauces were delicious. Accompanied by a very fresh and tasty salad and kilpler potatoes which were yummy.

    The name perhaps hides the surprise that awaits you. "Bar & Grill" doesn't do this justice. It was first-class service with a great atmosphere. Good size meals. We left feeling full, happy and keen to return for our next special event. Thanks to the warm and attentive staff who made the night unforgettable.

    My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at Chifley’s Restaurant on 6 October 2022. The service and dinner exceeded our expectation. The food presentation was perfect, and the service from the staff simply outstanding, it’s lovely to see the staff actually enjoying their work.     We enjoyed the ambiance of the dining room except a bit cold in temp. We were disappointed with the actual meal, the presentation, timeliness & freshness. Plus the third plate of steamed vegetables arrived too late to appreciate. However 5 stars for the desserts.

    I very much enjoyed the restaurant, ambience and food was good. Table service only in the dining room but a few steps away in the verandah was no service. This needed to be told on arrival as I felt I was chasing staff for service

    A great setting and very well presented meal, but the experience was seriously marred by the 'muzak' (cannot call it music) which was boring and plainly stupid. We would not go again because of that. We commented to waiter and was told the sound runs for the whole hotel. Pity the guests.

    Everything was lovely but the service was quite slow, we waited 30minutes for our cocktails before the meal. However, staff shortages may have contributed to this. The staff were polite and friendly. Otherwise, all was good.

    I took my wife for lunch at the Chifley and both her and I enjoyed the ambience, setting and the quality of the place a lot. The food was outstanding and we really appreciate the complementary flute of sparkling wine we got because we were celebrating my wife’s birthday. I highly recommend this place.

    Both my husband and I ordered lamb shanks expecting melt in your mouth falling off the bone lamb..unfortunately not the case, all the flavours where there just not what I expected... desert was spot on though and service was wonderful

    I love coming to Chifley's for lunch because of the combination of great food (the chicken Caesar salad is the best) and ambience. I was so disappointed when they were closed for an extended period once COVID lockdown had been lifted. If you want to go somewhere sophisticated where you can hear your guests speak and have lovely food delivered promptly Chifley's is the place to come whether you are staying in house at Hotel Kurrajong or not

    Chifley’s Bar and Grill is an oasis in the Barton precinct. It provides wonderful ambience, well spaced tables, good access to fresh air, garden views and easy parking. The service is second to none and the menu and wine selections are excellent.
