Early dinner , and so the restaurant was pretty quiet.
But a great place.
Interesting & varied menu. Not 'classical' Mexican, but very innovative range, which was very enjoyable.
Excellent cocktails also!
Would recommend. Good value for money.
Oh My God! First time and the food was far beyond my expectations! It was bomb!
We went on a Sunday for brunch which felt more like a club on Friday night. There is a DJ on Sunday who on this particular Sunday played the music too loud for our taste. The bass was off the charts creating high jarring vibration sound. We could hardly hear each other let alone the soft spoken server. When I asked if there was anyway the music could be turned down the server said that there was a 99% chance that it could not be as the DJ was hired to play loud music. I’m sure we would have enjoyed our meal more if we weren’t subjected to the deafening music. This might appeal to others but not our scene especially for Sunday brunch.
Thank you so much to the chef for working with my dietary restrictions.
Just walking in was a chore. The hostess said that my table I reserved wasn’t going to be ready for another hour or so... so I spoke to the manager and he took care of it right away and sat us down... the drinks were sub par and they took a really long time to bring them to us... we waited an hour for food and when it came out it was cold. I spoke to the manger agin told him that I’m sorry I’m such a bother but the last straw was my food being cold.
Great location near the comedy club and cool atmosphere
Drinks were good, service was decent. Haven't been to a Mexican place in a long time where chips and salsa aren't included as part of your meal and was surprised to learn you have to pay for them. Was a long while between our appetizer ( we did end up paying for salsa & chips) and entrees. At one point server even came and apologized for the long wait. When meals did finally did come out, they were both cold. As we had time constraints, opted to not say anything to our server. May have enjoyed food more if it wasn't cold - with the number of great choices for Mexican, I'd think twice about visiting again.
The food was delicious. Our server was just moving too fast and kept leaving before we could get her. Great atmosphere. Would definitely go back
Great drinks, good service, and fresh food. I will definitely go again!
It was trash. My food came out cold. They didn’t offer to take it off the bill. Unfortunately it was a business meeting over dinner and I convinced my partners to come to Chico instead of Toca or The Henry, which was a big mistake. Presentation was cool but other than that, the vibe from the staff was below par and I’ll probably only spend my money at Toca from now on. But I’ll give them another shot to redeem themselves.
Thank you for joining us, I'm sending you a private note to gather some more information about your experience.
The server was great.
Good food but the service was slow the entire night. Had to wait over 30 minutes to get our food.
I loved the vibe especially the Spanish music. Super recommended
The entire menu is amazing, but hands down the best dish is the cauliflower
Great Service, Great Food, Great Atmosphere...would definitely recommend a visit!
We had a great time at Chico Malo. Our server Luis was awesome. He made sure everyone in our party was taken care of. Great job!Chiliaquiles are the best!
The food wasn't as tasty as it appeared in the descriptions. The biggest issue was the lack of seasoning. To the chefs, your food is amazing, but if not seasoned properly tastes VERY bland, including the most boring guacomole I have ever eaten. Because the service and the ambiance were so awesome we would come again.
Decent happy hour and tasty Palomas. The happy hour shrimp cocktail was a bit small though.
Great food and great drinks. The carne asada was cooked perfectly.
Excellent sevice, the staff went above and beyond to help make our anniversary dinner a memorable one. The elote, pozole and shrimp diablo were delicious. Thank you.
Chicken with green Chile was by far the most tender and tasteful dish I've had in awhile. The green Chile had no kick to it and was delicious. The chicken was so tender and shred easily. I highly recommend this place.
Good environment.. Food & service could be better!
Our server was super nice, attentive, and helpful! Ambiance is great and the presentation of the food via box (don’t know how else to explain it) is incredibly unique. We loved it. Only slight negative is the duck tacos al pastor I had BUT I think it was just a personal preference as lots of people seem to love them. My wife and I thought they were nearly terrible, though edible with use of the salsas. Get the verde and roja salsas because they were great! Margaritas were great too! Would recommend just make sure you really like duck if you want to order it. I usually like it, for the record, but didn’t like there version.
We had a fantastic time since the moment we walked in we were greeted immediately it only took us a few minutes to get our table. our waitress was fantastic in explaining the menu. It was a Sunday brunch the DJ was playing some awesome music not too loud just loud enough to you have a good time. I would highly recommend this place!! Oh yeah I forgot to mention the $25 bottomless Mimosas and draft beer!!!
Place is good for people looking for drinks and partying but the food lacked flavor, steak was like chewing on a piece of old leather, and service was slow. Also everything was way overpriced. I guess your paying for the ambiance and not quality.
Coming from out of town and was able to book a last minute reservation for a table of 2. The booking stated that we would be sat at a high top table however when we arrived we were sat at a much larger table than expected which was amazing! Food, service, and drinks were top notch. Highly recommend!
Love this place. Staff is always super nice and friendly. Service is fast, drinks are great! Just a great atmosphere overall.
Love love loved this place! Must go and go during HH (3-6) and then continue on…, their elote corn is the best in the valley- we had 4 orders!! Only $5 a plate during HH. Coconut rice so yummy paired with the chicken enchiladas. House margaritas- perfect! And our sweet waitress was amazing making our anniversary so much fun and memorable - can’t wait to come back!
Oh and def finish your dinner off with their chocolate pudding (their name is fancier) + the churro dessert! Dip those babies in the chocolate. Heaven!!!
Caesar salad was all white part of romaine......grilled shrimp was god. 1/2 brick chicken was not really half......Brest and thigh. Side was horrible.
Always a favorite when I visit Phoenix! Excellent food, great ambiance, centrally located, and the margaritas are outstanding, especially the Mezcal ones. The staff are always nice here and there are plenty of yummy food choices. This time I went for the carne asada which was prepared with a side of tortillas with beans and veggies on the plate as well as a sauce that was smoking hot! There was a bouquet of flavors between the sauce, beans, veggies, that made the whole dish mouth watering. The only thing I didn't like was the smoked char on the Carne Asada, it gave it kind of a burnt grill taste that I'm not a big fan of but the meat itself was cooked perfectly.
Love the enchiladas!
Service was slow, server never asked us how we were doing or if we needed anything.
The food was fantastic, especially the blue crab tostadas! Wish the salsa was spicy. I would highly recommend Eating here.
Great food and great flavor. That ribeye with the shrimp worth every penny and the full flavor of the carne asada with the smoked beans was definitely a delight
Love this place. However, the DJ was really loud, but after a couple of beers, it was fun.
They almost made me spill my yack ~
Dark, loud, cool and hip...great food!!
It was just ok. The food was served in a way that made it hard to eat chili Colorado and the duck especially. A friend had the smoked Carne and it was far too Smokey. The place was so dark you couldn’t see the menu and the music was so loud you couldn’t really talk without shouting. The drinks were good, I’ll give them that!
The food came out cold after waiting over a hour and the service was very poor.
The food and service were so amazing. Can’t wait to go back. The blue crab tostadas and shrimp ceviche were soooooo good 😁
