   Dined here twice. First experience earned a return visit. Second experience was less impressive. Food quality was not as high. We ordered the same spicy Margarita which came out made differently and this time way too spicy.

   It was my first experience at this restaurant, Chicheria. I was expecting a fresh and tasty experience, it was lack luster. The food was meh... we had shrimp fajitas, Tres playas, and carne asade tacos. The tres plays was tasty, but marketed as sharable. Each item of salsa, queso and guacamole was a single serving and for 2 ppl sharing barely enough. The fajitas shrimp didn't appear grilled, rather boiled, very pale devoid of obvious seasoning. The carne asada tacos were good, but the blue corn tortilla, of which there was no other option, overpowered the flavor at times. The sides were also petite but somewhat tasty. We tried the tropical margaritas, which were not very flavorful or sweet even with a sugared rime and we couldn't get the frozen option as the machine was down. Considering all of the tasty choices around for Mexican fare, I don't think we would try it again. I also noted that much of the staff was minimally engaged with guests. For $130 it was a bust... save your money, go somewhere else. I would be surprised if this restaurant was still here in 1 year from this review.

   We arrived for our 11:00 reservation and accidentally came in through the side entrance instead of the main door by the host stand. It looked like they were having a team meeting or chatting amongst themselves. We awkwardly stood next to the sign by the door as everyone turned and looked at us then went back to what they were doing. Several staff members glanced back at us with death stares. Finally someone approached from the front of the restaurant and sat us. I apologized for coming in from the side entrance. It felt uncomfortable sitting there getting glares from the staff hanging by the bar. The saving grace was the amazing food and our server, a really nice Black woman with braids. I also liked that the restaurant was family friendly. Even though the food was outstanding I don’t think I would return. They could have simply greeted us and told us to go through the other entrance. I would imagine that ppl come in through that entrance all the time since it’s right off the parking lot. I don’t want to feel like I’m inconveniencing people when I go out to eat.

That said, we’re really sorry for how the visit started. Coming in through the side entrance shouldn’t have resulted in confusion or discomfort, and you absolutely should have been greeted warmly regardless of how you entered. We completely understand how awkward that must have felt, and we sincerely apologize. You're right—many guests do come in from the lot side, and it’s clear we need to improve the way we welcome people from any entrance.    Disappointed at 1:30pm only option was strictly Brunch menu until 3pm. Did not get to order what we came for. First time I have ever had to have a margarita taken off my bill because it was undrinkable. (Sour mix or something was off- tasted extremely sour and of perfume- it was the "limited edition" prickly pear, appears NOT to be one of their daily items but was told a customer favorite..

    The service here was great. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive even though she was also working the walk-up window. The restaurant is now completely gluten free, which is why my wife wanted to go. She would tell you that you can't even tell it's gluten free. She had the crispy fish taco and the coconut shrimp taco. She usually cannot have these because of gluten, but she absolutely loved them. I would recommend this place to anyone.
