Chicago q Ratings and Reviews
Seated 30 minutes after reservation at a table that was covered in crumbs.... the table was wobbly, a huge spider crawled up my back (seriously), and awful service (the server did not check on us for thirty minutes as she helped one table the entire time). Beyond awful. Will definitely never come back.
We arrived in the last seating and were able to sit in a booth. Our server Mario was fantastic. He was patient and answered all of our questions. There were 6 ladies and most had questions as it was their first time and he took time to answer them all.
The food in the other hand was fantastic, the portions were generous no small plates here. It was a great experience.
Came here for 1st night of restaurant week with a 9 person group. Restaurant week menu was exceptional, and the food delivered as always. That said, think it took a toll on the staff as it took my friend 45 minutes to get a glass of wine. Price was unbelievably low for the group size so definitely a great value.
This was my second time at Chicago q. The first time I went about 2 years ago it was great. This time, my reservation was forgotten for 45 minutes. When we arrived we notified the hosts and they said it would still be a few minutes for our table so we sat at the bar and had a drink while we waited. After about half an hour we went to see why we were still waiting and they said they forgot we were there. Once seated our server forgot to bring a glass of wine I had ordered when reminded twice and then forgot to bring one of the sides we ordered. We were still charged for the side even after notifying him that it never came and had to ask for it to be removed from the bill. The food was still great but I wouldn't go back again due to poor service. Hopefully just an off night.
I don’t know how a place gets any better than the Q. The competition ribs are unmatched- so meaty and delicious. The brisket meatballs? Out of this world. And the service is spectacular. Can get a little loud but you won’t mind after the first bite. Amazing. And the cocktails are superb.
We discovered Chicago Q through Open Table and were very pleased! The decor is simple and comfortable, the service is friendly and very knowledgeable, the drinks were fun as well as good bourbon and wine choices. We loved every food item we ordered from the alligator appetizer to main courses of mac-n-cheese and barbecue plates. We will be back for sure!!!
We were "celebrating" a birthday. When we walked in, I was taken by the lovely ambiance. However, despite the restaurant being half empty, with no one waiting, they rushed us through our meal to the point that we did not enjoy being there. While we were eating the appetizers, they asked more than once if they could take our plates (there was still food on them!). We had not finished our salad when they plopped our main course in the middle of the table. We had not finished our main course before they asked if we wanted our food boxed to take home and we were given the check before they even asked if we wanted coffee. They did give my son (adult) son a complementary dessert for his birthday, but he loves carrot cake and I had planned to order a slice, but they did not ask if we wanted to order anything else for dessert, just brought the check.
We felt unwelcome and rushed throughout the experience. What could have been delicious food, had it been savored and enjoyed ended up being an accompaniment to an annoyance. I told the waiter more than once, "we are not in a hurry," but he just seemed to want to get us out of there. I would not recommend this place to anyone. There are too many restaurants in Chicago that actually WELCOME patrons. This is not one of them.
Super cute, homey place - think of the decor as Magnolia Homes/Joanna Gaines style. House made BBQ potato chips and sweet pickles given to each table were absolutely delicious. Brisket, pulled pork and French fries were our favorites. Service, though, was so-so - not as warm and welcoming as the look and feel would suggest.
Service is great! Love the ambiance of this place. Simple. The pulled chicken sandwich is wonderful! Would just get the pulled chicken plate next time. Husband had the steak salad. It was wonderful. Son had a great burger. Our teens enjoyed it. Will return! Simple food done well!
The food flavours were great, but the service was slower than expected (20+ mins after being seated before any waiter came to our table to take a drink order). Food came out room temperature, nearly 40+ minutes after ordering entree. When addressed, manager seemed intoxicated and gave food vouchers which we won’t likely use.
